Feel| Chapter 3
* * *
We were going to do it. We found their hideout, we were going to raid it and settle this matter; stop them from freeing the ancient spirit. I had to, so that the ones who lost their lives did not in vain.
So my brother did not- no. I have to concentrate on this now.
I wiped my tears on my sleeve and composed myself. This was it. I had nothing left to loose.
Abruptly, I looked to my left. There was movement there. Leading the group of warriors in the coven to where I saw the movement from, and pushed open the iron door. I blinked at the sudden attack of light, and saw that over a hundred people were on the other side, all with similar black markings up and down their arms and legs. In the centre, there was a man with greying hair, sitting on a throne surrounded with gold and jewels. Seeing my arrival, he smirked.
"We've been waiting, dear. We knew you'd come to avenge your precious brother." He spoke in a gravelly, scratchy voice that gave me shivers down my spine. My brother... how dare he!
Suddenly, all sorts of feelings were thrown at me, and I soon realised that it was the feelings of the people around me. It was getting too much. From the corner of my eye, I saw a bald man with black markings all over his chest throw a piece of glass at our general direction. Someone on our side threw it back, and slowly, this chain reaction set off a full blown fight.
I wrestled with my head as the feelings of the two hundred or so people kept trying to weasel their way in, trying to escape the fight, when the man who had been sitting on the throne approached.
"You have finally come, my dear. Now all the members are complete, and we can do the ritual. We'll have all the power in the world... why won't you join me?" he reached a hand toward me, but I let out a scream and stumbled backwards.
What should I do? In this situation... and I don't even know how to use my power... wait, my power...
I felt the feelings and emotions of everyone in the room growing brighter and brighter, and suddenly, I couldn't stand anymore. I sank to the floor, holding my chest in my hands. It... hurt. The burn of hundreds of feelings...
The man that had been on the throne thought that meant that I had agreed to his terms. He took a step towards me, but he was not fast enough. The light that was burning so bright suddenly erupted out of my chest, and spreading tendrils of light around the room, making everyone turn my way, but they then gasped and covered their eyes. It was so bright.
Somewhere in my mind I registered that the tendrils were going around the room, on by one, and dissolving the black tattoos that the other coven had, leaving them to fall onto the ground. The light, when completing its task, slowly faded leaving me out of breath, and exhausted. Through my half-closed eyes, I saw that the members of the other coven were slowly regaining consciousness, and scratching their head, a little disoriented. Eventually their eyes regained focus and their expression became that of fury.
"You tricked us!" someone shouted, and eventually more and more shouts joined in. the man that had once been surrounded with hundreds of followers, now had none, and tried to escape, but he was surrounded by people who did not want that to happen. A woman broke free of the crowd and came up to me.
"Thank you; you have done a good deed. I now remember that the black markings he gave us were what he used to twist our will, and control us. You have set us all free and, come; I will give you a present in thanks, from all of us." She turned around and led me to a small hallway. I glanced to the people staring curiously and gestured for them to follow me. Unlocking the door, she turned to me with a smile.
"Here, it's all yours."
I pushed open the door, and was almost blinded by the brightness that reflected off the lantern light. It was no wonder, as the inside of the room was filled with jewels, gold, silver and all other types of jewellery and coins. My eyes darted around the room, as I spied everything from emeralds, to rubies, to sapphires. This was a treasure house! To think of all the things I could by with these riches!
But...
This wasn't for me. It would be selfish of me to keep all this to myself. Turning to the crowd that had gathered behind me, I took a deep breath.
"All of these, in this very room are something that I will share with all of you. This is too much for one person, and truthfully I would have no need for all of this. Use it to rebuild your home, and I will be happy, but do not be selfish! Use it for the good of others, and donate the jewellery to museums. This coven needs a new image!" I threw my fist in the air; beaming to the people I now called my family. All around me people cheered and shouted 'Ay!' for the loss of their homes and family would not be in vain.
Deep in my heart, I knew that this would be a chance for a new start.
