Feel| Chapter 1
~Okay, this is a short story I did on a whim... Just thought I should get this out there; post more stuff, lol. Tell me what you think! And feel free to share it with others! :)
I gasped as I spun out of the way, turning around and scaling brick wall. I knew I couldn't stay here for long, but I didn't know that they'd find me that quickly.
"COME BACK HERE YOU- YOU IMPOSTER!"
I snuck a glance behind me as I was running, almost losing my balance on the narrow ledge and saw that they were approaching me. Groaning, I pulled my hood over my head, leapt off the wall and sprinted into a dark alleyway. Dashing behind a dumpster, I peeked around it to make sure that they weren't following me. After seeing that they were not, I breathed a sigh of relief.
That was a narrow escape! I have to stop getting into these situations, I muttered.
Suddenly a hand clamped over my mouth. I tried to scream, but I heard a soft 'sorry' and was promptly kneed in the gut. I groaned as I fell to the floor, feeling a blindfold fall over my eyes.
"Welcome back home," a voice whispered in my ear, before I felt a prick of a syringe and everything turned black.
* * *
I opened my eyes, blinking a bit, before moaning and clutching my head when the painful feeling of a headache formed. Where was I? What has happened? All I remember was... I gasped as it all came flooding back to me. I had been caught by unknown people, and apparently I had a family? It didn't make sense. I had always been the unnoticed one, even as I grew up. So what was it about the family? Did that mean that I belonged somewhere? I was so trapped in my thoughts that I didn't notice the door opening.
"Ah, so you're finally awake! We were a little worried that we misjudged your age and gave you a bit too much of the sleeping drug. I know you might have questions and we will answer them, but would you first like some water?"
I looked at the man that came in. He was quite young, in his late teens or early twenties, with straight brown hair that went just past his chin. His hair at the back was tied into a small pony tail with an elastic band. For some reason, I felt as if I had seen him before... but where? Glancing at the cup of water in his outstretched hand, I wondered if it was safe to drink, after all they did knock me out...
Deciding to take my chances, I grasped the cup and gulped down the cool water, soothing my parched throat. While I did that, the man, who was my older brother told me that I had disappeared one night as a young baby, and they had been trying to find me ever since. My 'family' was a part of a coven and every second generation, there was a child born who possessed powers. Seemingly that was me, and when they figured it out, they were frantic looking for me. They had finally located me in the dingy orphanage, but when they went to retrieve me, the found out that I had already escaped, and was somewhere in the city. They had then seen me, pretending to be a famous idol to try and survive, and finally brought me back home- if I could call this place home. I wasn't sure if I could trust them and their story yet.
The reason why they were so desperate to find the one who possessed the powers, was because they were at 'war' with another coven, which was trying to kidnap all the 'chosen ones' to perform a ritual to awaken an ancient spirit which would, in turn, destroy the world. Knowing they could do something about it, they couldn't let that happen. Their only ray of hope was a prophecy that foretold that 'a girl with midnight black hair, and deep indigo eyes would settle the conflict, at the time of great sacrifice,' and as I was the only one who fit the description, and possessed powers, they were desperate to get me back.
"We have lost many to this war between our groups, so please sister, believe me and help settle this once and for all. They will follow you, just lead the way. We need to stop this, we have lost way too many." He looked away, and for a second I swore I saw tears in his eyes. That was when I decided. Brother or not, people were suffering, and someone like me, who grew up in a disgusting place that couldn't even be called an orphanage definitely understood the meaning of it. If there was something I could do, then I would try.
