What is it?
The Featured Author Contest allows young, up and coming authors to get a little extra exposure here on Wattpad and on my website. If you enter, you have the chance to be featured on Shay Writes Smiles for a month. This month happening to be December.

How long will I be featured if I win?
For a month. After winning, I'll do a sort of Q+A with you, and put the information up here, and on my Website, for everyone to get a chance to know you better.

How can I enter?
You must be a member of the Wattpad community, and must be following me. To enter, PLEASE include what contest you are entering - but, after that, simply comment your submission here on this chapter!

What should my submission include?
Your submission should include your name (both your username, and/or the alias you choose to potentially show), the title of your most popular book, and why you think you should be considered. For the reasons as to why you should be considered, dig a little deeper. I'm looking for dedicated authors, or dedicated fanfiction authors, who have worked hard to get to where they are today.
If I feel you deserve to be featured for the month, I will contact you directly.

Submission period?
The submission period will run for three weeks.
This submission period begins today November 1st, 2017, and will run until the last week in November.

If I've been picked, when will I know?
During that last week I'll look over the submissions, to which I will contact the winning author.
I will then reveal November's Featured Author on December 1st, 2017.

What is it?
The Featured Author Contest has allowed for young, up and coming authors to get a little extra exposure here on Wattpad and on my website. Since it's founding in June of 2016 - nearly twenty aspiring authors have been picked, and each have been honored for their amazing talents.

The purpose of this contest is to find the author that has truly outdone themselves this year - both before and after their features - and sees to it that they will receive the exposure they deserve.

What will I receive if I am picked?
You will be featured for a total of 1 year (January 2018 - December 2018).

You will receive a sticker, a published interview within next year's contest book/on my blog, and a winners' picture (much like the one included in your monthly feature).

Each month you will receive a shout-out on my Wattpad and many social media profiles (Twitter, Tumblr, potentially Instagram).

This author will have their stories featured in my public reading lists, and will receive a glowing review of one or more of their books on my blog!
(Potentially more prizes to come!)

Again - this contest is ONLY available to the featured authors of 2017!

If I would like to participate - what should I do?
Simply comment below with the phrase 'I'm In!' and I will take care of the rest! I will add you to the 'official' list of nominees and conduct an extra exciting interview with you in mid-December. From there, I will decide the winning author!

If I've been picked, when will I know?
The winning author will be revealed on January 1st, 2018! You will then begin to receive your prizes!

S O M E T H I N G.  U N E X P E C T E D.  C O N T E S T.

Something Real follows Scarlett Blaine as she unexpectedly finds a real relationship with her step-brother, Hayden Pennington. Though their relationship has hit many bumps in the road - one of which being Hayden's ex friend/mention, Axel Reynolds, they know deep down that there is more to their relationship than meets the eye.

What is it?
This contest is for my Something Real fans - as they have been so loyal and amazing to me as of late.

There has been question as to what happened between Axel and Scarlett in New York four years ago. Something More has raised those questions, and I know better than anyone what really happened.

Though as fun as it is to know myself, I want to hear what you think happened.

What will I need to do?
Use context clues within both Something Real and any chapters posted within Something More to gather intel - then, write a one-shot detailing what went on that scandalous New York night.

One-shot requirements?
Feel free to enter as many entries as you like!

There are no requirements, but there is a deadline. However, below I will list the general outline of a Something Real chapter:

•Each chapter is around 1,500 - 2,000 words

•Almost every chapter starts out with a simple sentence detailing what happened previously, or explaining Scarlett's thoughts on what's happening at the moment

•As SR follows many characters - you will be allowed to write from the point of view of your choosing.
Scarlett/Axel would be the primaries to choose from, as the 'event' occurred 'between them';
But feel free to detail Hayden, Wren, Eddy, Zane, Josie/Sarah, or even Angel/Elias 'finding out' about what happened.

How will I submit?
Please pay close attention to the following:

1. You will create a new work on your profile (or a new chapter within a book for contests).

2. Feel free to get creative with the title.

3. Once finished, please publish this work, copy the link, and comment below with both the link and the title of your story.

4. Tag it #SomethingUnexpectedContest

5. You will know that you have been entered with either a comment back from me, or by seeing your story added to an entries reading list on my profile.

6. The deadline is December 31st!

If my one-shot has been picked, how will I know?
On January 7th I will announce the winning entry on my profile!

What will I win if picked?
You will win a follow from me, a promotion of your winning entry on my profile, and your one-shot will be featured alongside mine in Something More for all to see! Also, one of your personal stories will be featured in one of my public reading lists!
