THE TWO SHADOWHUNTERS – WHO ISAAC LEARNED THE NAMES OF TO BE JACE AND ISABELLE – HAD DRAGGED HIM TO THE NEW YORK INSTITUTE. Along the way, Isaac had somewhat managed to annoy the crap out of the pair – which in a way made Isaac smile. However, what seemed to distract Isaac was the talk about a red-head and her mundane friend, with how this red-head seemed to see them and her friend joining them to the City of Bones to only wined up missing. As much as Isaac wanted to question about it this red head was Clary, he kept quiet thinking that it might be best if he stayed that way.

The doors of the Institute had opened when Jace had placed his hand on the door – asking to come in. The corridor of which Isaac got dragged down seemed old like the church's outward appearance but had that modern touch to it; the corridor had then widened into the main centre of the Institute where a pale blue light was all that lit up the surroundings while Shadowhunters were rushing around doing various jobs on either demon attacks or searching for anything they've been instructed to do.

"Jace!" A female voice called out. It was one of which seemed to familiar yet seemed to change quite a bit. The person who the voice belonged to looked so much like her mother that it had honestly confused the old vampire.

"Jocelyn?" Isaac questioned as he stared at the red head. The red head in return had gave him a confused look in return though it was filled with wanting to question.

The red head had tried her best to ignore the vamps' comment as she turned her attention to Jace. "How long is this going to take? Simon–"

Jace had then let out a small sigh. "It won't take long; we'll try and hurry this along so that we can get Simon from the Dumont."

"You won't be able to get into the Dumont without the vamps smelling your blood from outside." Isaac commented as he stared forward. His eyes seemed to dart around the room while his lips were in a straight line as his fangs grew. He was hungry, that was for sure, if potentially had the chance to eat, then he would've.

"Who is this again?" The red-head – Clary – asked. Isaac had tried to ignore the comment as Isaac tried to think about why this person seemed so familiar to him, yet he couldn't pinpoint it.

"Isaac Parker – vampire." Isabelle responded with a slight smirk as she then took his arm making him walk further into the Institute.

Clary seemed to follow after Izzy, Jace and Isaac. "If he's a vampire then he must know how to save Simon and get into the Dumont."

Jace had let out a sigh as he broke away from Izzy and Isaac. "Clary, this vamp is a lead to a dead Shadowhunter – more specifically a circle member. We'll get to Simon once we finish up interrogating the vamp, okay?"

Isaac's head seemed to snap towards Jace as he went to break away from Isabelle's grasp. "Clarissa Fray? As in Jocelyn Fray's daughter?"

Clary seemed to give him a look, one of which was filled with question. "You know who I am? What do you know about my mother?"

"More than you know," Isaac responded, "your mother would often come to me to ask to keep an eye on you when you were younger. If you're here, and your aware of what your mother tried to hide–" it was then that Isaac's eyes widened as it seemed like the air escaped his lungs, "Valentine found you."

The three Shadowhunters around the vampire had shared a small look with each other as they seemed to have some form of conversation between them. They all seemed to have an unspoken conversation between each other which had bugged Isaac in a way, there was just that small part of him which wanted to know what they were saying - more importantly he wanted to know what they were going to do to him.

"Is this him? Isaac Parker?" a British voice questioned as the owner of the voice came trotting over. He had blonde hair which seemed to somewhat messy, runes covered him while he seemed to give Isaac a glare.

"No, it's Peter Parker," Isaac sarcastically remarked as he rolled his eyes. If there was one thing of which Isaac knew it was the fact that it would be a long, long day or night filled with them bombarding him with questions.

"Great, dealing with another Jace," Michael spoke with irritant in his voice, "a sarcastic pain in my ass."

Isaac seemed to pull a face. "Me? Sarcastic? Never heard of it. Pain in the ass, now I've heard that way too many times to count for."

It was then that Jace had shoved Isaac into walking, which in a way made him jump with the sudden motion. Isaac seemed to glare at Jace as Michael seemed to somewhat guide them to where they'd question him - from what Isaac could presume anyway. The walls were pale white with runes which covered most of the walls and some of the floor, there was a table in the middle of the room with three chairs placed around it – two chairs one side and another opposite.

"If I wanted to be Interrogated by the police, I would've went to the police station, Shadowhunters." Isaac commented as he was then forced to sit into one of the chairs while Jace had then chained Isaac's hands to be either side of him while the chain lead straight to the ground.

"Forgive us for being a little cautious," Jace spoke with a grin as he then sat cross legged on the opposing chair on the other side of the table. Beside him sat Michael who seemed to somewhat smirk slightly as he stared at the vampire.

"It would be quicker if we got this over and done with, I have things to do and plus I don't think you'd want a vampire overstaying their welcome in the Institute," Isaac said as he seemed to stare blankly between the two blonds and to the wall behind them both.

"Then you answer the questions with as little sarcasm as possible, then maybe you won't French fry in the sun light." Jace told with a hint of sarcasm.

"Enough!" Michael snapped. He had then turned his attention to Isaac. "Do you know why we brought you in?"

Isaac nodded. "Yeah, because you found a dead former – or still – circle member a few blocks away from where I live, and considering that you know that I'm one of the few vampires to live in that area, you assumed that it was me."

"Are vampires always smartasses?" Jace questioned as he seemed to smirk slightly.

"Are Shadowhunters always assholes?" Isaac shot back raising a brow.

Before Jace could snap back, Michael had spoken first; "That is correct. All we want to know is if you done it. You can tell the truth, or you lie, and we won't hesitate to force the truth out of you."

Isaac had lent forward slightly, staring down both Shadowhunters in front of him. "If you want the truth that bad, ask away."

Jace and Michael had shared a look with each other before Michael had gestured towards the other, indicating for him to ask whatever question came to mind. Jace seemed to somewhat pause for a moment, thinking of a question to which could potentially lead one step further in knowing who killed the Circle member.

"Why'd you do it?" Jace asked. "If you knew that you would be answering to either us or the Clave – which would also mean getting shoved into the Gard, why'd you do it?"

"Straight to the point, damn," Isaac muttered. "I'm not going to lie because I value my life unlike the members of the Circle and Valentine himself. It was self-defence, which might seem like a lie considering that you Shadowhunters are already aware of what kind of trouble I get into on a nightly-bases."

Michael had then lent forward slightly, leaning his arms against the table. "Why would you need to defend yourself from a Circle member – who might've protected himself because of your lust for blood?"

Isaac scoffed slightly. "If a Circle member needed to protect themself from me after breaking into my house then it would clearly mean that they were attacking me."

"Why was he in your apartment?" Jace asked. "No mission included the help from a vampire like yourself."

Isaac had smiled suddenly as a bitter laugh came from his mouth. "Maybe because Valentine was with them. He knows that I keep myself to myself while not fully part of the New York clan, it's easier to signalise one vampire than walk straight into the heart of the Dumort where there's no chance of survival. Angle blood is too sweet to not resist, all vampires know that–"

"So, you admit that you couldn't resist the urge to drain a Shadowhunter of his blood, all because its 'too sweet'?" Michael asked, pointing a finger towards the vampire.

Isaac had pulled a face. "Did you just skip the entire part where I mention that Valentine Morgenstern – the dude who attempted to kill all Downworlders – was in my apartment? Jesus, I'm with deaf Shadowhunters."

"Okay, just answer the question." Jace spoke as he let out a huff.

"No, I did not drain his blood because of temptation, it was an honest accident," Isaac responded, he went to cross his arms but realised that he couldn't which made his pout slightly.

"The how you accidently drain someone of their blood?" Jace asked, "Surely you should've realised that you should've stopped."

"It's difficult to stop when you haven't had fresh blood in over one hundred years," Isaac snapped.

Michael had released a sigh. "Tell us about what Valentine wanted. You mentioned that Valentine was in your apartment, did he say why he was there?"

"He wanted me to join his side, saying how no one would expect a vampire to be aiding him with his bidding. When I refused, he then wanted my blood to potentially continue with his experimentations. He pulled out a syringe and I hate needles as a whole, and that's when I – when it happened." Isaac explained, not looking at either one as he spoke.

As Isaac spoke, he had Magnus' voice running through his head telling him that it's better to tell the truth rather than lie and come off worse. As much as Isaac believed it to be self-defence, he had a feeling that those who thought themselves as the superior race wouldn't see it as such and would cast it off as a vampire with a phobia who was being overdramatic to lie to them.

There was a small silence between the three of them which had made Isaac worry even more. It worried him knowing that they were silent, it had made his mind race with so many thoughts which seemed to make everything worse. Isaac had then managed to look up towards both Jace and Michael to see that they seemed to stare at each other, having a conversation with their eyes, which stressed and annoyed the vampire more. He wanted to know what they were seemingly talking about.

"You're going to send me to the Gard, aren't you?" Isaac asked in a low whisper. If he dared to speak any louder he feared that everything might show itself, if he dared to speak loud enough the demon hunters would see how much this tormented the vampire.

Michael and Jace had looked towards the vampire then back to each other, they knew that there was a chance that Valentine was back with how each species – Vampire, them, and any other demon blooded creature who want the cup for themselves. It was only a matter of time until Valentine had begun trying to recruit either more Shadowhunters whether it was former Circle members or anyone else who felt the Clave rules to be wrong, or even starting to recruit anyone who was willing whether they had demon-blood or not.

"We – uh, have little to no proof that Valentine is back, but we know that vampires, possibly werewolves, anyone with demon-blood would want to get their hands on the Mortal Cup. With that being said, it could also be a reason for why Valentine has returned – for the Cup so that he can create more Shadowhunters and control demons." Michael informed.

Isaac had gave the British Shadowhunter a look of confusion for what he just said didn't seem to answer his question. Jace had noticed the look far too quickly for anyone's liking.

"In other words, there's a chance that we could sway the Clave that your punishment could be to serve and aid us instead of being thrown into the Gard," Jace explained, "after all, you could be useful."

"What like helping Clarissa get her friend back from the Hotel Dumort?" Isaac asked.

Jace had nodded slightly while Michael had put his thumb up. "That, and you're one of the few people who seem to be aware of Clay's existence as a Shadowhunter, therefore you might know more things about where the Mortal Cup is and how we can help Clary get her mother back."

Before Isaac could respond to make this as a possible arrangement, another Shadowhunter had come stalking into the room. He had short blackish hair as a rune was clearly visible on his neck, he seemed to shoot both Jace and Michael a look as if they weren't meant to be doing this. His jaw was somewhat clenched as his hands were in fists, and if Isaac had to be honest he found this Shadowhunter to be quite attractive.

"What the hell is going on?" the Shadowhunter demanded. "I got a report saying how you and Izzy went after the suspect who murdered the Circle member."

"Alec, it's fine," Jace responded. Isaac still seemed to watch the Shadowhunter – Alec – while he stared between Jace, Michael, and him. "We've just questioned the suspect of the case, Isaac Parker, he admitted the actions and has made us believe that Valentine is attempting to recruit anyone who might want to turn on the Clave and the Accords."

"And what? You believe that he's telling the truth?" Alec questioned, "What if it's all a trick?"

"You seriously think that I would want to join the side of a mass murder who wants to kill my kind?" Isaac shot back as he seemed to give Alec some sort of smile. "Even if I did join his side, why would I willingly come here and explain that Valentine wanted to recruit me to do his bidding only for the offer to be denied, causing me to flip off when he pulled out a really long needle?"

Alec stared at him for a brief moment, not knowing what to say. "Vampires can lie, you've lived long enough to know how to play mind games, to trick us into thinking that what your saying is true."

"Really? I may be old, but Shadowhunters have prevented me from making the mistake I just made last night, I try and distant myself from places that feed on mundane's, or any clan that break the Accords. I have tried so hard since I was turned to follow the Accords, even when I was unsure on what they were," Isaac informed anger seemed to rise in his voice. "I might be someone who gets into fights with my own kind a lot, but I have never once broken the Accords from the day that I turned until yesterday, so if you would rather chain me to a roof and watch me burn in the sun then I will so happily follow. I don't care what you do to me, but know that I may be the closest lead into knowing why Clarissa Fairchild's memories have been taken from her and I might be the only one who can help you find that best friend of Clary's."

The three Shadowhunters seemed to be somewhat taken back by the sudden outburst of the vampire. They had been told on how sarcastic he was by Hodge, but they never told on how quickly the vampire seemed to snap. In a way it somewhat made sense on why the vampire had gotten into so many fights, Isaac seemed to always snap when another says something which might be controversial to the vampire's personality and what he is.

It was Jace who spoke as he turned to Alec. "Look, Alec, we could inform the Clave that we've come to an agreement of which was deemed comfortable for both parties. Isaac could stay here and be made to help us whether it's something like the Mortal Cup or whatever else. As I offered to Isaac, we could sway the Clave into his punishment being that he helps us with things that might be hard for us to do. Like getting into places where Shadowhunters aren't welcome. He can serve and aid us."

Alec had let out a sigh as he shook his head, he didn't say anything in response to what Jace said. There was just that small part of the Lightwood male which didn't know what to say for he had always preferred to stick by the rules rather than break them – though since Clary arrived considering the rules seemed irrelevant. There was just a small part of him which thought that considering that the vampire confessed, that it would be best to send him to the Clave where it'll be their choice in what happens.

"Fine, I'll inform the Clave of what was spoken today, and maybe from then they'll agree to it," Alec spoke after a moment.

It was by hearing those words that had made Isaac feel relieved with a part of himself, it had put his mind at ease knowing that he wasn't going to the Gard. Isaac seemed to smile to himself for a brief moment until he noticed the way that Alec seemed to turn to him.

"Don't expect me to not watch you, if you slip up then the deals off," Alec spoke somewhat bitterly.

Isaac seemed to somewhat smirk. There was a part of him which thought that the bossy and somewhat demandingness of Alec was attractive, yet he didn't know why, there was something that was somewhat hidden behind the way that Alec acted which made Isaac wanting to know what he was actually like. "I'll be counting on it."

Isaac Parker saw a challenge of getting to know Alec whether it was annoying the crap out of him or using this punishment as a way to warm up to him. Either way Isaac wanted to know what kind of person Alec Lightwood is behind the highly built walls
