Prayer and Confessions pt. 3
James 5:19-20
"Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converters the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
Other references: none.
Vs 19: "Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converters the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
"Strayed" this is talking about someone who has walked away from something. Someone that has willingly decided to leave.
Okay, these two verses- whoo! They pack a punch. Translated in a more modern way it shows a picture, of sorts, about a man who has "strayed" from the truth (the truth of Jesus Christ). And when a Believer of the truth- someone who has made the decision to believe the truth- finds this man and converts him to the truth. He tells this man- now a new believer- that God has saved his soul from Hell and Destruction, and God has taken his sins from him! He had lifted that weight that we talked about in part 2!
And this gives the believer- the man who converted the new-believer, a purpose. He is doing what God has placed us on this earth to do. And that is amazing.
And that concludes our three part devotion! Stay tuned for next week when we take a trip through Romans! "Results and Justifications by Faith," I can't wait to show you how reassuring this passage is!
