Part 1

The fairy looked at the imposing giant towering over her. She'd heard the tales of the violent giants, and she realized that in her weakened state, she would not survive. He bent down, fully shadowing over her. The instinct to run would've saved her any other day, but she'd pulled a muscle in her wing, and the best she could do was inch backwards. He showed his teeth, and in a booming voice, said something she could not decipher. She curled into a ball, hoping that the death would be quick and as painless as possible. She closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable pain that would signal the very end of her life. When it did not come, she looked up at the monstrous being. He blinked huge eyes at her, and she used some of the last of her depleted magic to translate. He spoke again, and the booming voice was finally something she could understand.

"It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you." He sounded worried.

She couldn't reply, considering that he did not understand her tongue, and she was not sure what to say either way.

He opened his mouth again and she got ready to be eaten, but he only talked again.

"Do you understand me?"

She nodded her head.

"Are you hurt?" He sounded genuinely concerned, but she still did not trust him.

She nodded again, figuring that there was nothing she could do if he decided to kill her.

"Where are you hurt?"

She gently touched her pulled wing, and winced as the light pressure spiked into pain.

He nodded, and in a sudden movement, his face got a lot closer.

She immediately shrunk away, sharply inhaling as she moved her wing.

He backed up a few inches at her reaction, but his eyes scanned her wing.

"Can I take care of you?"

About a month and a half later, the fairy was healed. Ever since Thomas, the giant being, had begun to take care of her, she was amazed and his kindness. As she had healed, her magic had begun to regenerate, and she had a token of appreciation for him. She had noticed how troubled he was. He usually appeared worried, and she saw how much his brain could hurt him. She planned to take away his pain, and alleviate his pain. She knew that there was something just slightly off in his brain, and knew that it was well within her abilities to fix the emotional and chemical imbalance. She figured that such a small gift may be enough to repay some of the large debt she owed him. She would leave soon, and when she did, Thomas's anxiety would be no more.
