Chapter 10
Ezra's P.O.V
My eyes shot open and I sat up with a gasp. I looked around to find myself on the Ghost and no one else in the room expect the snoring lasat under me. I sighed and hopped out of bed to get a glass of water.
I entered the kitchen and shakily grabbed a glass from the cupboard. I filled my glass then was about to drink it but my hands were so shaky that the cup accidentally slipped out of my hand. It shattered on the floor and I jumped back in surprise as a puddle of water grew on the floor. I quickly went over to the mess and forgot to slow down when picking up the glass.
I went to pick up a piece but it got caught in the palm of my hand. I hissed in pain and bit back a scream. I looked at the glass in my hand and took it out slowly which increased the pain. Once it was out I sighed in relief then took my glove off to get a better look. I stared at the cut for a moment and watched as the blood seeped through the wound.
'What does blood on my hands remind me of?' I thought then the memories hit me hard. I looked down at my bloody hands but it was not mine, it was my mother's, my Sith mother's blood. In the other hand was my lightsaber, the thing I used to kill her and blind Kanan.
I gasped in surprise and shot up to find myself in the med-bay. Did I pass out again? I saw that my hand was wrapped up in bandages and the pain was not there anymore.
What happened? I slung my legs over the side of the bed and stood up. I walked to the door of the med-bay and opened it. "Hello?" I called down the hall. "Ezra!" I heard a worried voice call. I glanced over my shoulder to se Kanan using the walls to guide himself to me. I walked over knowing that he probably wanted a hug.
"Hi," I said wrapping my arms around him. Kanan returned the gesture and asked, "What happened? One minute, Hera is walking into the kitchen, then the next, she is asking Zeb to help you to the med-bay."
"She's back," I mumbled scared and held onto Kanan tighter. "Don't worry," Kanan said, "She'll have to deal with us first." I smiled, Kanan always knew how to make me smile in a time like this. He was always there for me, not matter what the cause and I couldn't ask for a better master, the greatest father in the galaxy.
Kanan let go of me and asked, "I'm sure you're hungry. Do you want me to go get something to eat?" My stomach growled answering his question. I scratched the back of my neck with a sheepish smile. Kanan laughed a little, "I'll be right back." "Wait!" I said making him stop, "I got one question." "What is it?" He asked. "How long was I out for?" I asked. "Just a few hours," Kanan answered, "Get some rest and I'll be back with some breakfast."
"Ok," I said and laid back down in the bed as I watch Kanan leave the room. I played with the rim of the blanket and looked around every now and then, slowly getting bored of just laying in bed. "How long does it take to get food?" I questioned and getting really bored. I sighed and stood up carefully then made my way to the kitchen.
I entered the kitchen to find Kanan feeling around on the counter. He stopped and looked in my direction. "What are you doing out of bed?" He asked. "I wanted to see what you were doing," I said, "Do you need any help!" Kanan sighed, "Sure kid, I guess I am taking awhile. He smiled and I laughed a bit then walked over to get two energy bars.
"Thanks," he said and I handed him a bar. "No problem," I said and looked around, "Where is everyone?" "Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper went on a supply run and Hera went to go get something for your hand." "Ok," I said and sat on the couch, taking some bites from the bar. Kanan sat next to me then silence filled the room.
"So," he started, "You going to tell me what's going on?" I looked at then energy bar in my hands and didn't really want to answer. "I don't really want to talk about it," I said truthfully. "That's fine but you're going to have to spill sometime," he said. "Uh huh," I said gazing at the bar, feeling sleepy. "Get some sleep," Kanan said, "You need it." I laid my head on Kanan's shoulder and closed my eyes.
I felt him reposition himself and wrapped an arm around my shoulders to bring me in his embrace. I smiled and fell into a much needed sleep.
I woke up to feel a stinging pain shoot through my hand. "Ah!" I said and tried to move my hand away but someone kept it still. "Careful, Ezra!" I heard Hera's voice. My eyes adjusted to see the Twi'lek stitching up the cut. "Sorry, we didn't have anything for the pain," Kanan apologized. He rubbed my back to keep me calm and it was working.
"There, done!" Hera said admiring her work then bandaged my hand up. "This is just in case the stitches don't hold well," Hera said, "I'm not very good a stitching." "It's ok," I said, "You did your best." She smiled then messed with my short hair. "Hey!" I said and playfully pushed the hand away. "I need to go fix something," Hera said, "keep him out of trouble." "Yes ma'am," Kanan said saluting.
"I'm not that much trouble," I said offended. Hera stood in the door way and looked over her shoulder, "Your right." "Thank you!" I said then I saw her smirk. "You're always trouble," she said and walked off. Kanan stifled back his laughing and I elbowed him in the side. "Hey, that wasn't nice," Kanan said 'complaining.' "Well neither is laughing at me," I said folding my arms.
Suddenly, Kanan grabbed me in a head lock and started to give me a noogie. "What is up with everyone messing with my hair?!" I said trying to get out of the attack. Kanan stopped and laughed, "Cause it's fun making you mad." My lips curved into a smile then it fell when Kanan told me, "Let's talk in my room."
