Chapter 9.....
I was feeling pretty damn good right now, not gonna lie. The seven margaritas we had were finally kicking in, making me feel like I was on cloud nine.
"God this sand feels so good." I moaned, wiggling my toes deeper in the wet sand. Grabbing hand fulls I started piling some on my legs. When I was little I would try and cover every inch of my skin in wet sand regardless of how hard it was to get rid of later on.
No doubt I'd be regretting this later but right now my mind didn't care.
"It's like an exfoliant." Beside me Josie followed my lead, putting sand on her skin.
"We should bottle this up and take it home with us."
"We could make a business!"
"We need a badass name!" I shouted, although I had no clue why.
While Josie and I were playing in the sand, Lydia was snoring away on her chair spread out unladylike. And Sydni was busy texting on her phone, although judging from the look on her face it was very inappropriate texting.
"Coochie Sand." Josie suddenly said, looking right at me with a serious expression.
"Coochie Sand." I repeated. Seconds later the two of us burst into loud laughter. Cackling so hard I fell over to the side into Josie.
We held onto each other as we laughed our asses off at what she just said. Every time we glanced at each other it only made us laugh that much harder.
"Coochie Sand." I wheezed.
"There you guys are." A new voice suddenly spoke over our laughter. Josie and I were both laying on our backs, as the sound of feet came our way. Leaning my head all the way back I found a pair of upside down legs right in front of me.
"Why are you on the sky?" I blurted. "Did you know your boyfriend can walk on clouds?" I elbowed Josie.
"That's so damn cool." She breathed.
"What are you two talking about?" The world was starting to whirl as I leaned my head further back to see who was now talking.
"TREVOR!" I yelled once I caught sight of his face. He stood above me, staring down at me with raised eyebrows. "What are you doing here!"
Beside me Josie reached out and grabbed Wyatt's ankle.
"Don't worry I'll keep you down on Earth."
"Oh shit don't float away." My own arm shot out to grab Trevor's leg. "I got you!" An image of Trevor floating up into space suddenly appeared in my head making me giggle.
"You guys are drunk aren't you." Trevor said, barely hearing him over my own giggling.
"No." In responded at the same time Josie said, "Coochie Sand."
Once again setting off a round of laughter.
"Yeah their drunk." I briefly heard Wyatt say. Josie and I rolled around in the sand laughing as Trevor and Wyatt watched us.
"How much did you guys drink?" Wyatt asked once our laughter died down a bit.
"We only had seven margaritas." Josie replied.
"Yeah wasn't a lot."
"Uh huh." Wyatt and Trevor shared a look.
"Lets get you girls up and cleaned off." With little to no effort on their part, both Wyatt and Trevor reached for us, hauling us up off the sand.
"But I'm having fun." I whined as Trevor put me on my feet. He dropped his hands only to put them back on my waist when I stumbled to the side. Woah maybe I have drank a lot.
Glancing around I saw Josie climbing on Wyatt's back, Sydni kissing Bryton like her life depended on it, and Lydia was being cradled in the arms of Landon.
"I think you girls have had enough fun. Come on." With his hands on my bare waist, Trevor maneuvered me towards my stuff. I could feel the calluses on his hands against my skin and it made me shiver. His hands were so big they spanned around my waist. Immediately inappropriate thoughts came to mind.
"You have big hands." My mouth suddenly blurted, the alcohol controlling the things coming out of my mouth.
"Do I?" Trevor kept walking us forward but I could see the corner of his mouth tilted up.
"Yeah very manly hands." I was definitely going to regret what I was saying right now when I sobered up. "Bet you know how to use them." If I wasn't drunk I would be bright red right now. But drunk me had no filter.
"Wow you are way drunker than I thought." We stopped beside the lounger that held my stuff. "Think you can stand on your own for a second?" I nodded despite the world turning around me.
I watched, fascinated, a Trevor picked up my beach bag and put all my things in it. My eyes were glued to his hands. Hands that were making me think things I shouldn't.
"Here you go." He held the shawl I wore over my bikini. I shook my head.
"I don't want to."
"You're not walking around the hotel in that." Trevor shook his head. He came over and held it open for my arms. I wouldn't say the see-through shawl covered anything more but the look on his face had me doing as he asked.
Once Trevor was satisfied that I was covered, he grabbed my beach bag and held out his hand for me to grab.
"Lets get you cleaned up." I didn't even hesitate in placing my hand in his. It was weird to think someone could feel something just from a hand but even in my drunk fog I felt the tingle that went up my arm. The way my hand seemed to fit perfectly in his as he wrapped his fingers over mine.
I was vaguely aware of the others around us as we slowly made our way back to the hotel. At least it wasn't a long walk but my feet coordination was slightly off, making Trevor tighten his hold on me.
"Drunk on our first day on vacation...why am I not surprised?" Trevor teased.
"Hey Sydni was the one ordering all the drinks." I defended myself. "Who am I to say no." Who passes up free alcohol?
"Hm."
"Don't be jealous." I patted his arm. A very nice arm that is. "I can get you some. I know a guy." I even went as far as to send him a wink. The non-drunk side of me wanting to face-palm so hard at myself.
"I'll keep that in mind." I could tell Trevor was trying not to laugh as we got up to the hotel.
"Party baby!" Josie suddenly yelled beside me. I glanced over to see her waving her arm in the air as she was being carried on Wyatt's back. The look on Wyatt's face made me giggle. A mix of annoyance and amusement. Josie was an interesting drunk.
"Woo!" I echoed just as loudly. No doubt a few heads turning to stare at us as we walked by. I saw Wyatt and Trevor share a look before shaking their heads. I had no clue where Sydni or Lydia ended up but I was too busy trying to ignore the feeling of Trevor pressed against me. Between him and the alcohol I wasn't sure which was making my head swirl.
We passed by someone that must work at the hotel, carrying a tray of drinks. Trevor quickly flagged him down.
"Can we get a couple of water bottles by chance?" Even drunk I could tell the guy recognized Trevor for he quickly nodded his head and handed Trevor and Wyatt a bottle without a word. "Thanks man."
I stood there watching, not fully registering anything, as Trevor graciously helped Wyatt open the water and hand it to Josie before turning to me.
"Drink this." I stared at the water bottle in his hand like it was a snake.
"Why?" I scrunched my nose up. A margarita sounded better.
"Tash drink." My eyes widened at the tone he used on me. A tone that made my entire body shiver, not with fear no it was all excitement. Looking up at his face I found him staring down at me with those gorgeous green eyes, his jaw clenched, clearly not budging.
"Tasha." He warned. My hand snapped out and grabbed the bottle, downing half of it in one go. "There you go." The praise did something weird to my chest and stomach.
I just stood there silently staring up at him, water bottle now clenched in my hands. With the damn alcohol I couldn't quite grasp the feelings that were brewing inside of me, nor the feelings clearly written on Trevor's face.
"Lets go get cleaned up, yeah." All I could do was nod as he put his arm back around my waist and started for the front doors of the hotel. Josie and Wyatt ahead of us.
With each sip of the water I started to feel a bit better, my head clearing slightly. Which was probably a good thing. I already knew I embarrassed myself to no end in front of Trevor. Although it really wasn't my fault. They were strong ass margaritas...and I hadn't eaten much before.
The ride up to the elevator was slightly awkward. Josie and Wyatt stood off to the side, Josie now wrapped around his front like a koala bear. The two of them whispering something to each other making me look away. I glanced down at my feet only just realizing I was barefoot.
Trevor stayed pressed against my side, arm around my waist still, as if he was afraid I would topple over any minute. I wasn't going to complain. Drunk me more than happy to have his arms around me. Something sober me would never admit out loud.
I didn't say a word as the elevator slowly made its way up to our floor. I didn't trust what would come out of my mouth right now. Not when my stomach was fluttering like crazy.
Thankfully the doors opened a moment later, cutting through the weird silence that enveloped Trevor and I. This was the closest we have been since that night months ago. The closest I have let us be.
"Think you'll be okay to go to the bonfire in a few hours?" Trevor finally spoke when we reached my room, right across from his. I hadn't realized the time or how long we had been on the beach. Didn't help my body was still off from the time difference.
"Yeah I'll be good." I just needed a good long shower and maybe some food. Standing there I could feel the sand on my skin. The grainy feeling all over and in places it probably shouldn't be. The irritating itch starting.
Trevor looked a bit doubtful but gave me a small nod after a minute. Handing me my bag he finally took a step back, the warmth from his body suddenly gone, making me shiver. I shifted under his gaze not sure what to say.
Needing something to do with my hands I fumbled in my bag for my room key. Trevor watching my every move. He seemed to relax a bit when I finally got the door open.
"I'll see you in a bit." It came out more as a question but I found myself nodding to him. Needing to get away from him before I did something stupid, I quickly turned and entered my room shutting the door behind me.
What is going on with me? When I'm around Trevor I tend to lose the tight grip I had on myself. It was like one look from him disarmed all my walls. Didn't help my slightly drunk self was more than happy to drop those walls.
With a sigh I headed for my room. I needed a shower to help clear my head before I saw Trevor again.
I wasted no time in heading straight for the shower, the itchy dry sand starting to irritate my skin. As soon as the warm water hit my skin I let out a groan. I stood there under the water for what felt like ages, letting it was away all the sand and the little buzz I now had. With every minute my head was starting to clear making me feel a bit better.
I wasn't sure how long I spent in the shower but by time I stepped out, the bathroom was filled with steam and my skin had a slight red hue to it. My wet hair clung to my shoulders as I wrapped a towel around my body. A hot shower was exactly what I needed to feel better.
I bet Josie was doing the exact same thing as me right now. I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up to this bonfire thing feeling like shit. I guess we had it coming when we drank like 7 margaritas in a span of an hour. Probably not our brightest idea. What's ironic is it wasn't even my idea this time.
I sat on the edge of the bed wrapped in my towel. I was half tempted to lay down but I knew if I did I wouldn't make it to the bonfire. The time change was a bitch but I wanted to go and see the island tomorrow so that meant staying up even though all I wanted to do was take a nap.
Forcing myself to get up off the bed I made my way to my suitcase. A headache was starting to form but I knew if I didn't show up tonight Josie would come and get me, even if she was feeling sick.
Not bothering to put much effort, seeing as it was getting dark out, I grabbed one of the twenty something dresses I brought for the trip. No such thing as packing too many clothing. What if one dress got dirty or what if the Queen of England suddenly asked me to come to dinner. I needed options.
Slipping on a cute summer-y dress, that was more casual than anything, I went to dry my hair. Seeing as I wasn't feeling the absolute greatest I didn't put much effort into my appearance. Keeping my hair down, the humidity already making it start to curl, I put on a little bit of lip gloss and called it good.
Finding my flip-flops in my bag, curtesy of Trevor, I quickly slid them on and grabbed my phone. Coming out of my room I glanced over at Lydia's but the door was shut. When I last saw her she was being carried in Landon's arms, which I doubt went over very well when she woke up.
Expecting to hear from Josie any minute I slowly made my way down to the lobby, not entirely sure where I was going anyway. The hotel lobby was surprisingly busy, making me dodge people just to get to the front doors.
I had yet to see any of my friends as I lingered near the doorway. I was pretty sure I was on time but as the minutes passed I still didn't see anyone. Shifting on my feet I tried to not look out of place.
Sending Josie a text asking where she was, I pretend I was busy on my phone so I didn't look like a complete loser standing there alone.
"Feeling better?" My head snapped to the side at the voice. Relief washed over me at the sight of Trevor. Finally someone I knew.
"Where have you been?" I found myself asking, ignoring his question.
"Did someone miss me?" His eyebrow raised as his lip quirked up in a smirk.
"You wish." I rolled my eyes, even though a small voice in my head told me yes. "Where is everyone?"
"Not entirely sure. Landon was in his room getting ready last I saw. Haven't heard from the others." Trevor shrugged. Unconsciously I found myself looking him over. Noting that he was wearing board shorts and a light jacket on top.
"I texted Josie but she hasn't replied." I worried my bottom lip between my teeth.
"Probably still getting ready. Wanna head to the beach and wait?" As soon as the words left his mouth someone shoved past me, hitting my arm and making my stumble right into Trevor. His hand grabbed my arm as my hand landed on his chest. I peered up at him from under my lashes. The smell of his cologne hitting my nose. God he smelled good.
"You okay?" Swallowing thickly I nodded, stepping out of his hold. "Lets get out of here." Trevor gently steered me out of the hotel and towards the beach, his hand lingering on my back before he dropped it. I had to force myself not to grab it and put it back.
We walked in silence for a bit, following quite a few people in what I assumed was the right direction. As the silence grew I knew I had to say something.
"Thanks for earlier." He didn't have to help me back to the hotel and to my room but he did.
"Just glad you guys didn't do anything stupid."
"Excuse me, stupid? We are smart drunks for your information."
"Josie told us about the swimming pool incident in college. Not sure I'd say that was smart."
"First off....I didn't know you knew that story. And second, we got away with it so." I shrugged.
"Let me take a while guess that it was your idea?" He looked over at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Of course. Who else would have come up with such a good idea." The corner of my lip tilted up. Trevor just shook his head at me. "You can't tell me you didn't do something stupid in college."
Out of Wyatt, Bryton and Trevor I knew he was the troublemaker. Probably the guy who went to tons of parties and slept around.
"I mean everyone did, it was college." Trevor answered but didn't elaborate. I wasn't letting him off the hook though, not when he already knew one of my college stories.
"And? Not gonna share?" I nudged him with my shoulder.
We reached the sand a moment later, the sight of the bonfire a bit ahead. Waiting for him to answer I slipped off my flip-flops and held them in my hand.
"Okay fine." Trevor finally relented. Together the two of us walked side by side in the sand, heading in the direction of the fire. "It was my sophomore year and we just won our 10th straight game. We all decided to go out and celebrate."
I listened intently as he spoke. This was the closest and the longest we've been around each other and I didn't really want it to end. His presence next to me made me feel oddly safe.
"Long story short I got super drunk, drunk enough I barely remembered anything the next morning. The next morning Wyatt showed me his phone and told me what I did. I apparently thought it would be a good idea to strip butt naked and run down the street singing at the top of my lungs. The entire time Wyatt was recording."
I couldn't help but laugh at the story. The thought of Trevor running down the street naked and singing like an idiot, making me cackle.
"Oh there's more." The grin on my face somehow got wider. "On the video you can see me running down the street...at the same time a family of four was walking by with their kids." I lost it.
Bending over my whole body shook with laughter. He ran naked in front of an entire family. I shook my head as I laughed so hard no noise was coming out.
"Tasha." Trevor said but I couldn't stop. "Its not that funny."
"Y-yes." I barely got out. I looked up with tears in my eyes to find him giving me a flat look, which just made me laugh that much harder.
"Uh huh keep laughing."
"Oh god." I wheezed, hands on my waist as I tried to calm down. "Sorry that was just."
"I shouldn't have told you that story."
"Oh no you definitely should have. Does Wyatt still have the video?" I wiped at my cheeks.
"Like I'm going to tell you that."
"Why not?"
"Knowing you, you will send it to yourself and everyone else."
"I..." He sent me a look. "Okay fine I would."
"Thought so."
"I'm sorry that's too funny. You scarred those poor kids." I could just imagine the poor kids seeing Trevor running naked and drunk. "They probably never recovered."
"Gee thanks." I sent him a wide grin in return.
Sorry for not updating yesterday like usual. I had to get my blood drawn and seeing as i HATE needles with a passion it was not a fun experience :D But here is a super cute Tasha and Trevor moment. Their banter is just perfection. I need to find me a Trevor....so if anyone knows any hot single hockey players hit me up :P
