Chapter 3....
"Everyone we need to be at the airport at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. That way if any of you are late we still have plenty of time." Josie said over FaceTime the night before our vacation started.
I half listened as I sat on my floor painting my toenails. I was in the middle of doing my nails when an incoming FaceTime came. When I hit answer I hadn't expected to see everyone as well. Josie had somehow gotten us all together on one call to go over what was going to happen tomorrow.
At least we had someone taking the lead with the vacation and making sure everyone was set to go. Knowing how our group is we'd have someone forget or do something stupid. It made Josie the perfect person to keep us all in line.
"Jo, our flight doesn't even leave until 9:30." Trevor said in a whiny voice. I resisted the urge to look up and see his expression on my phone. I already knew he was pouting at Josie for having to be up so early. Not that I blamed him. To be at the airport at 7 meant being up at 5 to shower and make sure I had everything packed.
"Trev we all know you're going to sleep through your alarm. This way you can still make it to the airport and not be late." Josie said, almost scolding him like a mother would. Out of everyone Trevor is definitely going to be the one late to the airport.
I dared a glance up at my phone, just in time to see Trevor rolling his eyes. He knew she was right though. Out of all the guys Trevor Hall, star winger of the Knights, was by far the most outgoing, carefree guy. Always joking about something.
"Anything else anyone wants to add?" Josie asked a minute later. I capped my nail polish and looked at the screen shaking my head. I knew our 'schedule' like the back of my hand, thanks to the many texts and calls from Josie.
All my bags were packed, aside from a few things I needed in the morning. All my patients at work had been told I'll be back in a week but if they needed something they can always call the office. I was all set and ready to go. I was already craving the feel of sand in between my toes and the smell of the ocean.
I could feel the excitement through the phone from everyone. Even the guys seemed excited to go. I knew having eight people going on vacation together was going to be hectic as hell but I was excited. Nothing like going on vacation with a bunch of your friends.
"Oh and remember your passports everyone!" Josie spoke loudly over the chatter of everyone. I couldn't stop a laugh from escaping my mouth at the chorus of 'yes mom' that came through the phone.
Josie pouted over the camera as Wyatt leaned in and kissed her cheek, whispering something in her ear to make her blush. Knowing them probably something dirty. I ignored the small pang in my chest at the sight and instead found my eyes drifting towards Trevor.
He was talking to Bryton about something, his eyes off to the side of his screen. I could only see the top half of him but it was enough to see how his t-shirt hugged his upper body like a glove, little peeks of tattoos showing by the sleeve of his shirt. His hair had gotten kinda long and was laying messily on his head and onto his forehead. My fingers itched to push it back.
Realizing that I was staring at him like a weirdo through the phone I went to look away only for his gaze to snap to mine. Through the phone it was hard to tell who was looking at who but I knew he was looking right at me. It was almost like the phone wasn't even there as we held each others gaze.
Feeling flustered from just a look I quickly glanced away. Stupid Tasha, getting flustered at a simple look! Get a hold of yourself! I mentally yelled at myself.
I tried to brush off the feel of his eyes on me as I listened to whatever Josie was saying, the words barely making it through the slight fog in my head. I dared another glance at the little box where he was and saw he was still looking. I quickly adverted my eyes again.
I had a feeling this was going to be an interesting vacation for sure.

"There you are! Where have you been?" Was the first thing Josie said the moment she saw me at the airport the next morning.
"Uh security?"
"It's 7:30!"
I sent a look over her shoulder over at Wyatt. He just shrugged and took a sip from his coffee. Asshole. I mouthed at him which only made him grin.
"There was a huge line at security." I said which actually wasn't a lie. For being so early you'd think there wouldn't be so many people but apparently not.
"Where's Sydni and Bryton?" Josie looked around me as if they would just suddenly appear.
"I saw them in line a few minutes ago. Syd said something about getting a coffee first." I held up my own coffee I stopped to get once I was through security. I was going to need a lot of caffeine today. "Where's the others?"
"Landon went to the bathroom and Lydia went to the gift shop I think." Wyatt said.
"Oh." I looked at Josie who gave me a nod. It was going to be an interesting vacation for the two of them.
"And Trevor texted me he was on his way twenty minutes ago."
"See this is why I said to get here early." Josie muttered under her breath. Poor Josie was going to have an aneurysm before our flight.
"Everything will be okay babe. Just relax." Wyatt wrapped his arm around her waist and tugged her back into him. I watched her relax in his hold. He was the only person on the planet who could tell her to relax without getting their head cut off.
I looked away from their display and reached to grab my phone. I had a feeling they were going to be overly lovey-dovey on this trip. Great.
"They are disgusting." A voice pipped up next to me. I laughed at the way Lydia said it. A mix of disgust and jealousy. I silently agreed with her though.
Wyatt and Josie were probably the cutest couple I've ever seen. The two of them just melded so well together and Wyatt literally worshiped the ground she walked on. I've never seen my best friend so happy and it was all because of Wyatt.
While I was happy for them there was still this flare of jealousy inside of me. Not because I wanted Wyatt for myself, no he was meant for Josie, I wanted someone to look at me like he did her; like she was the air he breathed. I've never had someone even remotely look at me like that.
But if anyone deserved that it was Josie. She deserved a man like Wyatt, who will put her first and love her until the end of time. There was no doubt in my mind they were it for life. Had known it when I saw them interact for the first time.
"At least I have you to get drunk with." Lydia nudged me with her hip.
"We'll probably need it." Especially since we are on a trip with two couples.
"As soon as we land I'm getting a drink." Lydia said before moving around me to go put her bag down by Josie and Wyatt's.
With plenty of time before our flight I let Josie know I was going to walk around for a few minutes. I didn't want to sit longer than I had to. Our flight was going to be brutal. Only Josie would pick the furthest place away from us to vacation at. Although I wasn't too mad about it.
Whitsunday Island in Australia was literally a dream place. It was an actual island in Australia with a resort you can only get to by boat. From the pictures Josie sent, and I later looked up, it had the bluest water I've ever seen. There looked to be two little towns further down the island that looked really cute and fun to look around. It was beyond gorgeous.
The only downside was the flight. We two layovers and the flight was close to 24hrs long. The itinerary literally said it takes a full day to get there. Definitely going to be brutal.
There were a few plus's about knowing Wyatt, Bryton and Trevor. Being who they are, we were able to get first class seats instead of being stuck in the back of the plane. At first I had been pissed at them for using their name to bump us up to first class but after realizing the flight was as long as it was I relented. Only because I wasn't going to look forward to sitting in a small cramped chair for 12+hours.
There was another, smaller, reason I wanted to walk around the airport for awhile. One person I wasn't too keen on seeing just yet, even though I would be stuck with him for the entire vacation.
I wasn't going to purposely avoid Trevor but every time I was around him I remembered the night from six months ago. The night Josie invited everyone over for games and ended up turning into a night I would rather forget. We haven't had an actual moment alone together since then, so we haven't spoken about it and I know he'll try and bring it up this week. I was just hoping I can avoid it for as long as possible.
Walking around the airport for about thirty minutes I finally made my way back to our gate. My body was itching with excitement to get the show on the road. Getting to the airport and having to wait was always the worst, especially when you get here hours before your even set to leave.
The area around our gate was a bit busier since I left making me weave in-between people and their luggage. I could see my group of friends huddled slightly off to the side near the windows. I didn't miss the way some people kept looking in their direction as I got closer. Being the three biggest hockey players in Toronto they all gained attention no matter where they went. I can tell you at least five people will come up to them before our flight is called.
I did feel bad for them, seeing first hand how intense the paparazzi and fans could be. There's been a few occasions when all of us are getting dinner and we come out to people taking photos of us. Of course I got it less than Josie or Sydni since they were dating Wyatt and Bryton.
Unfortunately I've had my picture taken quite a few times, thanks to my parents socialite parties, but having a camera shoved in your face is never fun or easy. I am proud of Josie for handling it as well as she does. The first time the press learned about her and Wyatt she freaked, as would anyone, but now she isn't bothered by it. Josie knew it came with the territory when dating the golden player of the Knights.
"I fully plan on sleeping the entire time." I caught the end of Bryton's sentence.
"Ask me again why we agreed to go some place so far away and 14 hours ahead of us?" Lydia questioned.
"It better be worth it." Landon muttered. My eyes looked at the pair. For two people that claimed to hate one another they stood awfully close. I noticed the way Landon kept glancing over at Lydia without her knowing. Just quick glances but enough to show he felt some sort of way about the fire cracker that is Lydia.
"I brought playing cards." Trevor's voice spoke up a second later. My eyes drifted to him reluctantly. Looking at him I had to stop myself from biting my lip. Clad in a pair of black joggers, a grey sweatshirt, and his brown hair mused, he looked like he just rolled out of bed. But despite that he still was the most attractive man I have ever met.
I hated that. Hated that he was attractive and a good guy. It's not often you find both in a guy, let alone a famous one. Trevor may be famous but it didn't seem like its gone to his head. It was clear he was a ladies man but from what I've seen over the past months he wasn't the cocky, fuck boy that you would think he is.
All of that just made it harder to suppress certain feelings.
"Don't let Tasha play you. You'll get your ass beat." Josie laughed. Trevor's eyes met mine. Ignoring the tingle that ran through me I let the corner of my lips tilt up in a smirk. Something close to surprise flitted across Trevor's face before he returned my smirk.
"We'll see about that." I didn't miss the competitive look on his face. Another thing I have learned about Trevor was he was super competitive. Our game nights have turned into more than a simple night having fun. Nope now it was basically war.
The look had me narrowing my eyes at him. He thought he could beat me at cards. My insane competitive side came forward, just like with our game nights.
"Oh it's on Trevor. It's on." No way was I going to let him win. Not when he'll hold it over my head till the end of time.
