Ghostly Treats

A few hours passed, and the sun was high in the air. The air was cool and refreshing, as sunlight permeated through the city. Everyone was now off doing their own thing; some were exploring, while others were simply resting, taking a break from the chaos that had unfolded earlier.

Book walked alongside Ruby, as the two traveled around the city. The team was in need for more food, so Book decided to go along and get some, and Ruby hesitantly volunteered to go along with her. The two walked in silence, as they walked by the abandoned science museum, expecting to see a certain someone there. Book looked up, and raised her hand to wave towards Needle, who usually-

Oh.

Book slowly put her hand down, as she looked away from the empty area. Ruby shot a glance towards her, before she cleared her throat.

"So..." She whispered.

"How's life...?"

Ruby mentally winced at the terrible conversation starter, but, hey, it was a shot. She just wanted to break the silence. Book blinked, before she looked down at Ruby, shrugging.

"Life's...weird."

Ruby nodded in agreement, as she looked down at her hands, slowly clasping them together.

"Life's just been all over the place. It's like it doesn't want us to relax in a way..." Ruby let out a weak chuckle. Book's eyebrows furrowed together, as she looked down.

"Honestly, this is all just chaos. I want it to end..." She looked away. Ruby nodded, as she looked ahead.

"It was hard. I've...never seen Teardrop that way."

"How was she...after..." Book uttered. Ruby rubbed her arm.

"Uh...Not so good. She was like me; she didn't want to see anyone, she was sobbing, angrily pacing around, snapping...It took me a while to calm her down."

A small smile grew on her face.

"But..I managed to do it. I helped calm her down, and we just...talked. Cried, laughed, talked...It felt..."

"Refreshing?" Book smiled. Ruby nodded in agreement, as she put a hand on Book's arm.

"Refreshing."

The two smiled, Ruby's face filled with a little bit more life than before, but the bags were still beneath her eyes. The two continued to make their way down the street, continuing to look for a nearby store that they'd always go to.

That is, until Book froze.

Ruby looked back, confusion clearly painted on her face.

Why did she stop?

"Book...?" Ruby called out. Book didn't respond; her face was growing pale, as she slowly wrapped her arms around herself. Her eyes darted around the area, as she slowly began to back away. Ruby looked around, confused as to what Book was freaking out about, and why it had this much of an effect on her.

She looked around, until it suddenly hit her.

Hard.

"Oh gosh, Book..." she cautiously put her hand on her shoulder, and looked into her eyes.

"Book, breathe, it's okay..." she mumbled, as she slowly led Book away from the area. Book was still out of it; letting out incoherent mumbles and gasps of fear.

Ruby...has never seen her like this.

But it should be understandable...

She could've died back there when it happened.

"Breathe Book..." Ruby gently moved her hands into Book's, squeezing them gently. Book broke out of her small, anxious state and looked into Ruby's eyes, tears prickling at the corners of her eyes. Ruby took a deep breath in, and slowly exhaled, nodding towards Book.

After a few seconds, Book finally caught onto what she was doing, and began to take slow, deep breaths. Ruby led her towards the opposite direction, cautiously making sure she didn't look back.

Because not only was that the "area" where it happened...

But she was nearby, too.

———————————————————

"Are you sure you're okay, Pin? They didn't hit you, or try to..."

"Coiny, I'm okay. I promise..."

Pin leaned in, and gave him a soft peck in the lips. Coiny lifted his hand up, and slowly stroked her cheek, sighing.

"If you say so..." he whispered. Pin smiled, slowly cupping her hand over his. They stayed that way for a moment, before the two broke apart and began to walk back into the city.

Pin looked up, and felt her smile curl downwards into a frown, as she slowly looked around the nearly-abandoned city.

"Things are so...different now..." Pin uttered, letting her eyes well up with tears.

Well..."fake" tears.

Coiny looked over at her, and then looked at the sky. He felt his heart sink a little, as he could no longer see the large, metal cage that dangled freely in the air.

Things were so much...

Quieter?

Without him...

He didn't like it. At all.

He sighed, as they walked past the entrance of the Yoyle Needy, by a familiar scene...

She.

"Wha...?" Coiny blinked, as he quickly looked around in alarm. That...

That was a voice...

His..

"Are...you okay?" Pin looked over at him, squeezing his hand gently. Coiny looked around once more, before nodding slowly.

"Y-..Yeah, I just.." he coughed a bit.

"I thought I heard something..."

Oh! This is a perfect time to act, Pin!

Pin let her eyes widen as she quickly looked around as well.

"What did you hear..?!" She whispered fearfully. Coiny shrugged slightly, before he looked around once more, holding Pin close to him.

SHE.

Suddenly, everything around Coiny quickly melted into darkness. A sharp, icy pain jolted through his body, as he no longer felt...

Anything.

His eyes widened in panic.

Why couldn't he move..?!

He shut his eyes in fear, as the small voice began to get louder, reverberating through his head and shaking him to the core.

SHE.

RUN.

DIE.

GET HER!

REVENGE!

Suddenly...

Get in here, Coiny!

I like COINY more!

Bleh!!

Ehhhh..!

Out of my way, Coiny!

Coiny!

Coiny!!

Coiny..

Coiny.

"COINY!"

Coiny winced as another sharp jolt stabbed through his body, but quickly began to subsede.

"W-Wha...?"  He mumbled dizzily, as he slowly began to adjust to his surroundings. He looked around slowly, and then looked down.

His eyes widened.

He was on top op Pin, her eyes slowly dimming as she let out weakened gasps and coughs. Her hand was on his, which were slowly sliding off.

They were wrapped around Pin's neck, and he was..

"PIN!" He cried out in alarm, as he managed to snatch his hands away from her neck. She rolled to her side, holding her neck in pain, and gasping for air. The air that filled her lungs stung, but it was a relief to her.

Coiny held his hands close, as he watched her fearfully. The color returned to her face, as she finally managed to look up, and look at him, exhaustion and fear gleaming in her eyes.

"P-Pin, I'm so sorry, I didn't- I wasn't-" Coiny tried to find a way to explain what had happened..

But, he didn't know.

He didn't know what just happened.

Pin put a hand on her head, as she moved away from him.

"Why..." She rasped out. Coiny shook his head, moving closer to her.

"Pin, Pin I didn't mean to- I didn't do it-" he felt his eyes water. Pin shook her head, wrapping herself with her arms.

"I didn't do it.." she whispered.

"I didn't kill them.."

Coiny's eyes widened. Why...did she say that.

"Pin..." he knelt down, and slowly put a hand on her cheek. She flinched, but looked up slowly.

"I know you didn't Pin, I know you didn't. You're a sweet, loving and charismatic leader...and girlfriend.." he added.

"And I know you would never do something so...inhumane to them. But I need you to understand, that I don't know what happened to me. One moment I was talking to you, and the next, I see that I was-" he paused.

Pin looked back at the area, and back at Coiny.

"I wasn't in control of myself.."

Her eyes looked down.
Something had taken control of him.

When he was strangling her, his eyes...

They were almost...

Grey..?

Then black...then orange...then pink...then..

"Possessed." She whispered.

Coiny looked up at her.

"What..?"

"Oh, u-uh...I don't know..."

Coiny nodded and looked away. Pin grunted as she tried to stand back up, but suddenly fell back down. Coiny gasped, and quickly helped her back up, maintaining her balance. She smiled weakly.

"Th-Thanks, Coiny..."

He nodded, as he looked around, leading the way back towards their place.

"Let's just head home.."

Well done Pin! You didn't even need my help, you're getting the hang of it, aren't ya?

Now, how about we try something a bit...different?

-

"Gelatin! Stop it!"

"I'm hungry Fries! Can't I just have one?! Or maybe-"

"No! I'm so close to finishing them, I'm so close to saving my life for taters sake!"

Gelatin stood up, as he reached out towards the last fry that dangled from Fries's container. He wrapped his fingers around the fry, and began to tug.

This made Fries twitch. With all of his strength, he swiftly turned around and slapped his hand away.

"STOP!" His voice broke.

Gelatin jumped back, his eyes widened in shock. He watched as Fries stumbled over towards the fence, leaning on it for support. His face was slowly losing its color, as he reached up and touched his fry.

It soon hit Gelatin.

That fry wasn't just a...fry.

It was basically his life....system?

He watched, as Fries began to shove it towards the side, wincing from the pain that had risen from the movements. He took slow, deep breaths, as he let his eyes close. The color soon began to return to his face, and, soon enough, he managed to stand back up.

"I-I'm...uh..." Gelatin's voice was quiet. He didn't really know what to say...

"I-I'm, sorry-"

"Hey."

Fries walked over towards him, patting his head. This made the jello...jiggle. He looked up, and saw that Fries was giving him a sympathetic smile.

"Its okay."

Gelatin nodded, as he stared back at the ground. Fries chuckled, before he made his way into the garden, looking over each of the tall, green plants.

The two stayed in silence, until...

"Hey Fries! Gelatin!"

The voice made the two look up, as they saw Coiny walking their way, Pin beside him. Her head was on his shoulder, as she gave them a small wave. Fries waved back, as Gelatin...

Simply stared.

Pin looked away, as Coiny ran up towards the fence, looking at all of the plants.

"Fries, these look great! When will they be ready?" His eyes sparkled in adoration. Fries walked towards him, sighing.

"If everything goes smoothly, I suppose...in a few weeks. Two, maybe even three." He smiled, as he looked back. Coiny raised his fist in the air, triumphantly.

"YES! Soon we'll all be getting some REAL food around here!!!!"

Pin laughed a bit, as she walked closer towards the group. Gelatin still didn't take his eyes off of her, and it was a bit...

concerning.

" You..okay?" She smiled towards him, her voice still soft and hoarse. Gelatin raised his eyebrow.

"What's up with your neck?"

She winced at the question, as she looked down at the ground.

"Its...a long story."

"Well, I have the time." He crossed his arms. Pin's eyebrows furrowed together, as she saw the sudden change in his attitude.

Why was he acting this way?

Pin sighed, as she shook her head.

"Well, I'm gonna head back. I have to see TD, so..." She turned around, and began to walk away, rubbing her arms.

She didn't need to look back; she could still feel his eyes on her.

"Teardrop?"

Pin knocked on the door, holding a small basket in her hands. A few seconds passed, before a small click was heard, and the door slowly creaked open. Teardrop peeked through the crack, her eyes darkened and wet.

She had been crying...

"Mind if I...come in..?" Pin gave her a smile, holding up her basket.

"I brought you some treats..."

Teardrop looked down at the basket, and back up at Pin, slowly nodding as she opened the door. Pin smiled, as she walked in, placing the basket on a small table. Teardrop closed the door, and turned back towards Pin, sighing.

'Sorry about the mess. I haven't been able to clean up, I just don't feel well.'

Pin shook her head.

"No, don't apologize TD, I understand." She smiled.

Teardrop walked over to the couch, and patted a cushion, as she sat down. Pin sat down beside her, as she fiddled with her thumbs. A silence hung over the two, as none of them dared to speak a word.

Ever since her death, they haven't spoken much.

TD blaming Pin...

Pin trying to explain...

Thats why she was here.

She looked around at the darkened house, admiring the light blue walls, and the soft colors of all of the furniture. Things were scattered around the floor, sheets, pillows, papers..

Her eyes trailed back towards the small table in front of them, and her eyes came across...

Needle.

Photographs of her were scattered on the table, photographs with other objects, Teardrop, and Needle. A scrapbook sat, opened to a blank page out of the filled pages it already had. Pin tilted her head, as she noticed that one of the pictures had...

Her.

Pin was smiling in the picture, one arm around her co-captain, and the other around...

Needle.

On the bottom of the picture, in a bright, bubbly font, were the words:

TEAM W.O.A.H BUNCH, EPISODE 3

'You remember that day, don't you?' Teardrop signed towards Pin, smiling a bit. Pin nodded, as she picked the photograph up.

"That was when Coiny...forced Needle onto our team.." She laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head.

"If she didn't switch, he'd call her you-know-what three times,"

'In a row.' TD signed back, smiling a bit. Pin nodded, looking back down at the photo.

"Good times..."

The silence returned. Pin rubbed her neck, tracing her fingers over the red marks that Coiny had left. Teardrop looked at her, and her eyes widened.

'Are you okay?' She signed, a bit frantically. Pin noticed, and waved her hands towards her nonchalantly.

"I-I'm fine, it was just..." She looked down.

"Something happened earlier."

Teardrop nodded, as she looked over at the basket that sat on the table, away from the photographs. She tilted her head, as she got up and walked over towards it. Pin noticed, and a smile grew on her face.

"I figured I'd bring some treats for you...since you haven't been feeling well.."

Teardrop took the small cloth off of the covering of the basket, and her eyes gleamed for the first time in days.

There, in the basket, were an array of cupcakes, small cakes, and muffins; all having bright colors and wacky designs to them. A smile grew on Teardrop's face, as she carefully held up two of the cupcakes. The one she had chosen had magenta-colored frosting, small sugar pearls covering them. The wrappers were bright green, and the cupcake itself was a vanilla-cupcake, with small blotches of purple inside of it.

A good yoyle-berry cupcake, Pin's specialty.

The one that she reached out to give to Pin, had white, fluffy frosting that ended in a swirl on the top. Red sprinkles were scattered over the frosting, and the wrapper was white. The cupcake itself was red, and Pin licked her lips.

Her very own, red-velvet.

She thanked Teardrop, as she took the cupcake, gently peeling off the wrapper on it. Teardrop did the same thing, before she licked her lips, and took a large bite out of it. This made Pin giggle, as Teardrop's eyes began to sparkle even more.

'Pin! This is so good! When did you make them? How?' She quickly signed, licking the purple frosting off of her lips. Pin looked away bashfully, before she answered.

"I made them...not too long ago? I think it was the day before...'that' happened..." She looked up.

"But I didn't want them to go to waste, so I brought them here, to give to you.."

Teardrop took another bite, nodding happily. She put the cupcake down, before leaning in and wrapping her arms around Pin. Pin jumped a bit, before she slowly let her arms wrap around Teardrop, as they stayed in that hug for a bit.

"I'm...sorry about not being able to save her. I did everything I could, but..." Pin weakly lamented. Teardrop slowly broke free from the hug, as she looked up.

"But Leafy... I was far from where it had happened.."

Teardrop frowned, her eyes darkening once more.

"I managed to break Leafy away, but...it was too-"

A hand suddenly grabbed Pin's wrist. Pin looked up, and her heart sank as she saw Teardrop.

Her eyes were fixated on the ground, her face growing dangerously pale. A drop of blood trickled down her chin, as she tightened the grip on Pin's wrist.

"T-Teardrop?" Pin made her voice shake. Teardrop let out a horrible, raspy wheeze, as she collapsed onto the floor. More blood began to pour out of her mouth, as she let out guttered screams and cries, clutching her stomach. Pin stood up; her heart racing, and her mind swirling with panicked thoughts.

Now, don't try to comfort her. Don't make this hard for yourself.

Thats what you do.

I make it easier.

Pin felt her body grow stiff, as she stood over Teardrop, watching her let out disgusting sobs of pain, blood drooling out of her mouth.

You have to learn how to NOT get so attached to them, especially when they're going to die.

You just have to get it done.

Do what you have to do.

And then? You have your result.

Teardrop's limbs were trembling, as she turned onto her back, wheezing painfully. Her eyes trailed over to Pin, who stood over her, silently. A sudden burst of rage exploded in her chest, as she weakly lifted her arms and signed,

'He won't forgive you.'

Pin felt tears sting at the edges of her eyes. But a smile grew on her face.

"Oh, he won't, won't he?"

Teardrop's arms collapsed, as the room suddenly began to grow more fuzzy, and light. Her eyes squeezed shut as she coughed harshly, more blood spewing out of her mouth. The pain was growing more and more unbearable, until...

'Teardrop..?'

She weakly opened her eyes, and the room was glowing more and more, as she saw a familiar figure coming down towards her.

'T-Teardrop, its...its you! I-It's me...'

"N-....Needle....?" Teardrop croaked out, her voice soft and hoarse. Pin's eyes widened as she heard her say that, a tear making its way down her cheek.

A few more seconds passed, before Teardrop's eyes suddenly gazed away, her limbs finally coming to a rest. One final sigh escaped from her mouth before....

Silence.

"Teardrop..!"

She wrapped her arms around the smaller figure, letting tears pour down her pale cheeks.

"I missed you, I missed you so so much love...."
