Cutting Ties

A day passed.

And then, two.

And three.

And four

and...

...

A cold, limp object laid shivering in the darkest corner of the basement. Her eyes were barely opened, as she let out small, shallow breaths every once in a while. She was starving; her stomach taunting her with growls that echoed in the darkness. Sharp pains stabbed through her stomach every minute or so, and at first, she rolled around in agony, wailing at the ceiling.

But no one could hear.

And the pain? Well, she's paralyzed from the dreadful feeling of emptiness, as well as the low temperature. She just couldn't feel much.

On the night of the second day, her voice perished. No matter how much she let tears squeeze out of her eyes, nothing, not even a gentle whimper, could escape her lips.

Now, she was just parched. Her throat itched for just a drop of water, but there was nothing she could do. No matter how much she thrashed, scratched, yelled and cried,

Nothing would change.

She could feel death crawl on her, slowly letting its arms reach around Pin, and give her a slow embrace. Her entire body felt numb; her throat felt like a desert. The rag didn't help at all either, making her mouth even dryer than it would've been without it.

How many days could an object make it without food?

Water?

Heat?

Pin let these thoughts sway in her head, since no other thoughts could shine through. Her eyes were cloudy and death-like, as she stared at the dark corner of this basement, or, in her case, a prison. She couldn't do much of anything anymore.

Her hopes eventually gave out as she realized that no one would be coming for her. The muffled voices that would grow louder and louder as they walked by, teased her as they began to fade away, growing quieter and quieter and, soon? Silence.

She could feel it; she could practically feel her body giving into the embrace of death. She doesn't care anymore; too much has happened. She swam too deep into the river; and it was far too late to return back to shore.

She let her eyes close once more, as she let out a shudder. If she was gonna die, she'd rather die away in her sleep.

Silence filled the room once more, as she slowly began to drift away.

Her thoughts, her reality, her mindset, was crippling away, but...

Whatever.

.....

"....?"

.....

alliance, remember?~

Pin's eyes shot open as she panted heavily. Beads of ooze slid down her face, as she looked around once more.

Same room.

But...

"I KNOW SHE'S ALIVE! I KNOW HER! NONE OF YOU KNOW HER LIKE I DO!"

A yell made Pin jump up. That was Coiny's voice; he was close! He was by the door! This was her chance for escape!
Alright, alright, collect yourself. She had to act. NOW.

She thought for a moment; before a lightbulb went off in her mind. She swung a bit, and fell back, grunting in pain. She shook it off, and soon began to roll over towards the door. She rolled quickly, and slammed herself onto the door. A loud thud broke the silence, and she shut her eyes in pain. She quieted down, and listened.

"Wait; did you hear that..?!"

"Coiny, please, calm down. You're going through grief; you just have to accept that-"

"NO! I-I swear I heard something.." His voice began to fade away.

"Coiny! Just get over it!" Golf Ball's voice bitterly responded.

"You know what she did; we ALL know what she did with Woody! Accept it and MOVE ON!"

Pin's eyes widened in disbelief.

They...told him.

They told him a lie.

Her eyes filled with fury, as she began to shift her body. She positioned herself, and took a sharp breath in.
And with all of her might, she began to slam her feet against the door, each kick creating a loud thud, loud enough to vibrate through the room.

"There it is!"
Footsteps began to grow louder and quicker, before the knob of the door began to wiggle.

"Wh-Who's in there?!" Coiny's voice cracked out.

This was it.

"M-...." Pin shook her head. Her voice was nearly gone. She shook her head as she repeatedly slammed her feet against the door, the kicking growing more and more frantic.

"WHO'S THERE?! TELL US WHO YOU ARE!" Golf Ball screeched out.

"M-MmM!" Pin grunted out.

""Mgfgmm!!"

Silence.

Pin's eyes shut, as she shook her head. Where did they go?! Where were they?!
They were just there!

Her breaths became more shallow and frightened. Was this all just a hallucination?!
These thoughts swirled in Pin's mind, before a loud bang snapped her out of it. She looked at the door, shock and confusion pouring into her chest.

"To Whoever is in there; you better MOVE!" Shouted Tennis Ball.

Pin's eyes widened in alarm as she turned, and quickly rolled towards the right wall. She squeezed her eyes shut, preparing for the impact. A few seconds passed, and then suddenly, a loud crash made Pin jump. She slowly made her body roll around, and squinted at the sudden light that poured into the room.

Tennis Ball bounced a bit, shaking his head from the impact. Golf Ball, Needle and Coiny quickly ran down the steps and looked around.

"Mmgf!! MM!" She began to roll towards them. Coiny gasped as he suddenly ran over, and tackled Pin. Pin grunted from the sudden pain, but it faded away as she felt the warmth of Coiny's body. He looked down, tears of joy spilling down his pale, exhausted face.

"PIN!" He cried out happily, hugging her close. She flinched, but soon relaxed as she began to melt into his arms.

"Coiny; don't just hug her! Untie her!" Needle's high pitch voice grew louder with annoyance. Coiny sniffed, and let go of Pin, putting a hand on her cheek.

"I-I was so sure...I thought...I'm..." Coiny croaked out. Pin shook her head, as she muffled out a few words. Coiny then slowly took the rag out of her mouth, and waited as she began to cough and adjust to the air. She took a deep breath, and looked up at him.

"D-..Don't blame yourself." She smiled weakly. Coiny shook his head, and wrapped his arms around her once more.

"Alright Pin, let me help you out." Golf Ball walked behind the two, and began to untie the ropes that held Pin's wrists together. It took her a bit, but when the ropes collapsed onto the ground, Pin wrapped her arms around Coiny, her eyes dim, yet filled with relief. Golf Ball sighed.

"This is Freesmart's basement." Tennis Ball walked up to the group, sighing.

"What makes you say that?" Needle asked.

"Simple." Tennis Ball held up a small, empty container, labeled 'Peanuts' in bold, green letters.

"I'm pretty sure we know who could eat an entire jar of these in less than two seconds."

Golf Ball examined the jar, and looked around the basement.

"But why did they do this? Are they the murderers?!" Golf Ball's voice began to grow with anger.

"Because if they are, THEY WILL BE EXECUTED! THEY HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE!" She cried out angrily. Tennis Ball quickly put the jar down, and began to pat her back in comfort.

"Hey, hey, calm down..." He whispered. Golf Ball panted, as she looked up at him, her eyes starting to shine with tears. She sniffed angrily, as she wiped her eyes.

"Sorry." She muttered. TB nodded, as he gave her a hug. Usually, Golf Ball would refuse, but today...

She just stayed in his embrace.

"Alright, you lovebirds, lets go. We have a team to question, and we gotta get Pin something to eat, she looks terrible." Needle sneered. Golf Ball's eyes widened as she quickly fell out of his embrace, clearing her throat.

"Y-Yes, I agree. Lets get out of here." She stuttered.

Coiny stood up, and helped Pin onto her feet. He wrapped her arm over his shoulder, and began to help her walk. He took a step forward, before Pin suddenly yelped and toppled over Coiny, both landing face-flat onto the pavement. Golf Ball gasped.

"Ack! Sorry Pin, I forgot to untie your legs.." She laughed nervously. Pin rolled her eyes, but waved her hand towards her, smiling a bit.

"It's fine, don't worry about it."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"OW!"

"Be careful, its really hot! Should've warned you earlier, heh..."

Pin slowly took a sip from the yoyle-stew Coiny had whipped up for her. She was instructed to eat, but to eat small portions, since her stomach has shrunken a bit over the five days she was stuck in the basement. She shuddered a bit, before slowly turning her spoon in the bright, purple liquid.

Coiny was kind enough to let her stay over his place; it was small, yet it was comfortable, and perfect for him. She gazed over at the window, where the Yoyle Needy was seen in the distance, standing high off of the ground. Pin began to space out, as the memories soon began to trickle back.

All of this was happening too quickly;

how long has it been since Firey died?

"Pin, eat, your stew is gonna go cold."
The sudden stern tone in Coiny's voice sent chills up Pin. She stared back down, and dipped her spoon into the liquid, watching it run inside of the spoon. She sighed, as she lifted the spoon.

'I remember our alliance. Why don't you?'

A hand trailed down by back, and soon went back up and rested on my shoulder.

I felt goosebumps grow on my body as I felt the hand rub my shoulder.

'Remember me, Pin.'

Why do I want to remember you. You're the one who betrayed all of us.

'Oh, am I?~ Why don't you ask Woody? Or Rocky? Or even, Firey..about who really betrayed everyone here.'

Stop it.

'How about Coiny? You sure had some fun with Woody, didn't you?'

STOP IT.

'It would be a shame if Coiny was...killed....~'

"NO!"

Her spoon flung across the room, the purple liquid splattering all over the sheets and the floor.

"Pin!" Coiny quickly walked over to her, and sat down beside her. Pin breathed heavily, as she looked at Coiny, her eyes blood-shot. He sighed.

"Pin, it's okay, calm down.." he looked down. Pin shook her head, and gulped.

"R-Right, I'm sorry..." she stuttered.

She put a hand on her head, and sighed, ooze starting to go down her face.

Why does she keep remembering...her....

"Pin."

Pin's eyes opened as she looked over at Coiny. She sat up, wincing a bit from her sore sides.

"Yes?"

"Is it true."

Pin tilted her head to the side. Is what true..? What did he mean by that..?

"Uh, what do you..mean.." she asked softly, confusion getting the best of her. Coiny shook his head.

"Pin, don't play innocent. You know what I mean." He responded gravely. This made Pin turn cold; she has never seen Coiny act this way.

"Coiny, seriously, what do you mean?" She asked nervously.

"I don't know what you mean by that, I swear.."

Coiny looked up at her.

"Did you really make out and....do some stuff..with Woody..?" His voice began to fade away.

Pin's eyes widened.

"C-...Coiny, why would you believe that? Of course I didn't, I never even LIKED Woody to begin with..!" Her voice began to tremble. Coiny glared at her, anger and betrayal in his eyes.

"Then why did Ice Cube see you two doing some stuff then." He mumbled angrily. Pin stared at him in disbelief.

"Are you seriously believing the FREESMARTERS?!" She yelled. Coiny jumped back, before recollecting himself.

"Pin, I don't know who to believe here. They, saw you. But here you are, telling me you didn't...I don't know who to trust.." he put a hand on his head.

"Are you KIDDING ME."  Pin slammed her hands down, the bowl of Yoyle-Stew nearly spilling its contents.

"I NEVER LIKED WOODY! HELL, I'VE NEVER EVEN DONE ANYTHING LIKE THAT!"

It was too late for her to realize that tears were starting to pour down her face.

"COINY, PLEASE, BELIEVE ME! I..I LOVE YOU!"

Coiny gave her a blank stare. His eyes filled with tears, as he looked down.

"I..." he went silent.

That was enough.

"Alright; you don't believe me? Fine." She stood up, and grabbed a blanket.

"I'm leaving."

"Pin, Pin Wait.." Coiny's voice began to shake, but Pin didn't notice. She walked over to the door, and opened it, letting the cool breeze embrace her.

"I'm done."

And with that, she slammed the door behind her, leaving Coiny, and the stew, behind.
