Chapter 26

LanternBearer PhantomDimGrim and LycaShairu9 here you three go.

This is going to be interesting.

Time was not sure what she expected to happen the next day at the school.

That fact alone grated on her nerves.

First, she made sure to be careful as she entered the school, double-checking every single person around her. Not spotting any glazed eyes or signs of mind manipulation, she relaxed and opened her locker.

Then proceeded to glare at the arm that forcefully shut it in her face.

"SHADE SAID THEY ARRIVED!" Fear shouted from next to the culprit, grabbing her arm and dragging her back to the entrance. Shade smirked and nodded to Jee, who was the culprit. Jee motioned for Shade to go on ahead of her.

Time let her feet drag on the floor, her mind swirling.

Standing outside of the school, however, was a lone figure. The boy had night blue hair, the sole telling factor of it's true colour being the sunlight shining on it. He wore a casual jacket and jeans, but they were tidy. His purple eyes, however, showed pure irritation as he quickly typed something on his phone.

"I'm pretty sure you said 'they' arrived. I see no 'they', only 'he'," Shade momentarily released Time, only to march down the steps to face the boy.

"Which one is that, again?" Fear leaned into her ear to whisper, eyes focused on the crowd that seemed to grow behind them.

"If my files are accurate, that is Confidence," What he was doing here was their question.

Especially since she was very certain that he was not on their list. It was only Jees' group and Emotion. No one else.

But where were they?

"Con said that Jee's group slept in, and since they were supposed to pick up Dr. Psycho, they're all late," Shade huffed out before coming to a stop in front of them, Con following behind looking steamed.

"I told them to set an alarm. Humans have a stricter schedule and track time in minutes, not centuries," Jee only chuckled at the statement.

"Well, might as well head back in, then," Jee headed to the front door, only for Con to open it for them.

"Common courtesy," was the response to her stare. Fear just marched through the door, muttering while glaring at everyone nearby. Jee just followed with a shrug, offering a polite nod of thanks to Con for holding the door. Time mimicked Jee's response before entering.

After a bit, she noticed the lack of both Shade and Con in the hallway. Sighing as she watched Jee drag Fear to vent outside since "You are getting on my nerves and I already have a group that is good at that", she walked back to the entrance.

It was quite the sight. Girls were giggling in cliques as they entered, while boys were still outside. Standing there, still holding the door open and with the dead expression of one who has given up, was Con. Shade stood right next to him, an ever-growing smirk wide on her face as she watched him.

"Are you both quite finished?" Shade just walked in without another glance back. Con sighed before finally letting go of the door, entering the school. Time sighed.

Today would definitely be a long day.

"Uhhh, Professor? The new students have arrived," the student on office duty stuck his head into the classroom, only to be pulled out by a leather-gloved hand.

It appeared that Jee's group had arrived.

Chase breezed into the classroom, hands casually in his pockets with a smirk light on his face. He had on his favourite leather jacket and jeans, with glittery purple shoes to match (A/N: In case you didn't spot it yet, he really loves glitter. Especially in this timeframe). Glittery purple hair (A/N: Did I mention he loved glitter) and violet eyes that slid over everyone in the room, before landing on Jee.

Who happened to be holding a pencil with an evil glint in her eye.

Time wished the poor boy luck for whatever had happened to cause that look.

Following close behind him were some of the others from Jee's group, each not even trying to look normal. One even had his hair on fire (though she was not surprised). Luckily the teacher seemed to not care much and just gestured for them to take a seat, which they happily complied with.

Everything was settling down when Emotion walked in, dragging in someone else.

This classroom is starting to make me feel claustrophobic...

Emotion had raven black hair with a purple streak, with styled bangs covering her left eye. Her right eye was the bright electric purple of contact lenses, though whether that was her natural eye colour remained a mystery. She wore a spiked choker and a leather jacket, only where Chase's was form-fitting, hers was looser. She wore a black mini-skirt with a grey stripe, pulled down until it partially covered her thighs. Knee-high spiked leather boots completed the "emo phase" look.

Of course, that was the way she crafted her outfit.

Her friend, on the other hand, had a cheery pastel pink shirt on, with a clean pixie cut showing off her decisively white hair. Standing next to Emotion, she looked like a giant. Compared to most students, actually, she would be fairly taller. Her Amber eyes glowed with what most would assume to be laughter. Time at least hoped it was. At the rate they were going, it appeared that beyond Con next to her, all of the people here would be crazy enough to warrant a visit to the mental asylum.

Judging by Shade's excitement, however, she was clearly hoping for something impossible.

"I apologise for our being late. Our designated carpooler had an incident, then my friend here had decided to attempt to skip her first day of school. Finally, she tried to lock herself in the bathroom cubicle," Emotion stated in her normal dead voice.

"BLAKE, YOU HAVE TO SIT HERE," Shade gestured to the seat next to her. It was vacant after the student requested a class transfer, thanks to Shade. No one knew what she said to the student to make him so eager to leave.

Blake happily launched herself over the desk, much to the anger of the professor, before seating herself behind it. She launched into a conversation with Shade immediately, neither even trying to be discreet about their discussion, though no one knew what they were talking about in the first place.

Throughout all of this, Fear had yet to lift his head off the table, but Time had expected that. She was happy with the small form of constant in the day, only to immediately lose the happiness when Blake flipped the table in laughter.

A long day, indeed.

A/N: (*rises from the grave to offer you a grape*)

I LIIIIIVVVVVVEEEEE.

(*falls back into the grave without a sound*)

Whether that is a hallucination caused by the grape you're holding or it actually happened is for you to decide 😁.

Anyway, I've clearly been procrastinating on this chapter for far too long, so here you all go.

Enjoy.

Now go read something else.

Denograde out ;)
