Chapter 2
Time
Time is quietly seated long before the other students even get to their desks, her golden-brown hair hiding her face from her class. She adjusts the fleece of her school uniform, seeming to shrink further into her seat, dodging all of her classmates stares. The tingling in her hand increased, and she fought the rising swirl of emotions inside of her. She knew Fear was now in her school, but for what, she didn't know. Hopefully he won't try to seek her out again. He always goes on a mad dash searching for her through the feeling alone. As his senior, she could summon him at will, while he can only sense when she's nearby. But for him, it's enough.
"Everybody, can I have your attention, please?" the teacher called from the front of the class.
Everyone stopped and stared at the teacher and the boy next to her in a silence so still Time's ears nearly popped from the pressure. She slowly looked up and saw Fear staring quietly at her, his eyes a mask that never betrayed his inner workings. He slowly pretended to survey the class with mock disinterest, but she knew he knew.
He always did.
"This is our new student, Nicholas Denoveli. Nicholas, this is your new class."
He wore his trademark black sleeveless jacket with a bright red t-shirt inside, slightly torn jeans and black sneakers. Time could hear the girls gossiping over how rakish he looks with his "bedside" hair that they figure must have taken hours to perfect. Time knew better. After spending years in an office chair helping her sort through her cabinets nonstop for years on end, she knew that he genuinely did not care about how he looked anymore. He normally just put a brush through it to get rid of some of the tangles, but he mainly just left it to its own devices, which worked perfectly as, as an immortal, he did not need to style his hair as it simply falls into place on its own.
"So Nicholas," the teacher continued, unperturbed."Is there anything you want to tell the class about yourself?"
"How about that he and I are immortals and, according to the hierarchy system, I'm his boss." Time thought to herself, ducking her head lower so that her hair hides the small smile on her face. Judging by the slight uplift of the left side of his mouth, he knew exactly what she was thinking. He appeared to think for a bit, then looked slowly at the whole class before his dark chocolate eyes with gold rims rested on hers.
"Uhhhhh... Personal or commonplace?" He looked nervously at the ground in an attempt to appear shy. Time looked at him and smiled encouragingly.
"Either," replied the teacher with a soft smile, thinking that she understood his problem."But commonplace if it makes you feel better."
He smiled slightly in thanks, then continued so softly only the front rows and Time could hear him."I like reading. Mainly fantasy fiction, but occasionally fact as well."
The teacher smiled broadly at him. "Well, lucky for you, we have another student whom also loves to read. You can sit next to Claire, the girl with the honey-blonde hair. Claire, is it okay if Nicholas sits next to you? I know you love your space."
Time smiled gently, knowing poor Fear was hoping against hope that she would be okay with it and wanted to put him out of his misery."I don't mind."
// A/N: alright, that's the next chapter. Please bear in mind that Time writes in third person because that's normally how she notes everything. Fear writes in First person because "It's a book on ME, hence I shall..."
Please comment on whether you want to be a student, entity, name, age and description, please.
Denograde out ;)
