I was looking through a lot of my older graphics today after not being able to find them in the depths of my computer and was surprised with how far I have come over the last couple of years!  So I wanted to create a little graphic evolution of my skills so far. I have seen a lot of people do this but I don't quite know who did it first but if you do please let me know.

And without further ado here we go! 

2016 - 2019

The Canva Era

Actually think this cover might have been made on Wattpad using the old Make a Cover function but it's still bad anyway. The heading you can hardly read, the title in general, my old username, and the image with no relevance to the story  - there's a lot to dislike about this one. 

A period of time called 'Amelia uses the Canva Book Cover Templates to try and to pretend she can make book covers'. They aren't bad covers just very generic and a bit boring. 

Oooh, Amelia works out how to use an app other than Canva! But the watermark though? Can't believe I actually used this for my book at one point. 

An unpublished book so thank god that this cover never quite saw the light of day, until today...       But there's a lot to dislike about this - why did I practically write the entire blurb on the cover?

Amelia's first three attempts at making a cover theme! Was very proud at the time but also didn't have as many books to make a cover theme of so it was a lot easier back then! 

Early 2020 to Early 2021

The Picsart Era

First time using PNGs and textures! Still reverting back to Canva for text though. But yes all of my covers at the time had that weird filter that I thought was really cool at the time...

Got a better understanding of how to use Picsart and finally learnt how to download fonts and use them so I didn't have to keep using Canva fonts! Don't know why I cut off the top of her head so that it was flat though??

First two attempts at trying to do a glow around a PNG. Not too bad the first time, but got a little overzealous on the second attempt! 

Working on a more subtle glow as well as playing around with multiple PNGs at once! Gaining more confidence in my Picsart abilities.

Early 2021 to Present

The Photoshop Era

First-ever Photoshop cover! A lot of drama with this cover including when Photoshop crashed halfway through when I hadn't saved but a pretty good first attempt, although the highlights on the face are a bit too obvious!

The two covers I made for remuslupout 's graphic contest a couple of months ago! Started to gain more confidence on Photoshop by playing around with different textures and my hair drawing skills got a little better! 

I have always struggled with simpler covers but played around a lot with Photoshop's text functions to make this cover! 

My latest photoshop cover! Very simple once more but I'm in love with the spiderweb detailing. Also played around with different fonts and styles. 

And that's it! Will maybe do an updated one of these in a couple of months but we will see!
