"Sebastian says hi."
Kiyara Gayle spoke as she entered her family home in Nice, in the south of France, her arms full of bags that contained the grocery shopping since she had gone out early in the morning for a run, only to decide to go shopping whilst she was out of the house.
The young woman smiled as her brother moved towards her in order to grab most of the bags from her to give her a helping hand, his head nodding at her in silent agreement.
Their mother laid perfectly still on the sofa in the living room of the house, her eyes concentrating solely on the television in front of her since it held an episode of one of her favorite shows on.
"I knew that you had met him, he sent me a random text with about thirty emoji's. It was so weird."
Kemar Gayle grinned as he helped his younger sister unload all the shopping, placing all the items away in cupboards or in the fridge, deliberately nudging his sister as she was emptying a new packet of rice in to the containers that they used, making it spill all over the kitchen counter.
The Jamaican man chuckled to himself as he stepped towards the fridge, hearing his sister curse repeatedly as she tried to tidy it all up, a glare being sent his way which he returned instantly.
They were adults, but they still liked to annoy each other, they had done ever since Kiyana could walk, infact her first steps came to a halt when a young Kemar had ran over to push her down.
Since then, it only ever got worse.
"You're such a dick." Kiyana chuckled as she cleaned up the mess, a smile on her features since she knew that they only really had one another lately.
The only time that there was humor within the house, was when it was caused by them.
It was like all the fun had been sucked out of the home over time, getting worse when they had lost their father because it caused their already fragile and unstable mother to have a complete mental breakdown.
"Thankyou."
Kimona Gayle mumbled quietly as she was handed a cup of decaf coffee by her daughter, with the young woman also pressing a soft kiss to her mothers cheek just like she always did though she received no response for that.
The two siblings stared at one another as they silently held a conversation, their minds being so similar that they were almost telepathic.
They always did as such whenever they needed to have conversations about their mothers health and mental health but didn't want her to overhear, so they just communicated with their facial expressions and eyes.
It was how they had communicated about such things for the past fifteen years, so they were now experts in it.
"How was Sebastian?" Kimona spoke up at least two hours later, her eyes only briefly meeting that of her children before they returned once again to the television.
"He's good, he asked if we could babysit the girls next week so I said yes, that okay?" Kiyana questioned her mother with caution evident within her tone, since she didn't want to put too much pressure on her mum in case that she would snap by accident in front of the young Vettel girls.
Kemar's eyes widened slightly, patiently waiting for a response.
"Yes, as long as they're quiet." The elder Gayle spoke with no emotion within her voice, almost sounding like a robot.
"They're kids, mum. They can't be silent all the time. It's not fair on them." Kemar spoke up, knowing that whilst the daughters of Sebastian Vettel were very good in behavior, that they wouldn't be able to stay silent.
They had tried the last time that they were here but they had ended up arguing over which one of them got the tub of chocolate ice cream, which had caused their mother to have a small breakdown.
"I'll be asleep upstairs then."
The siblings eyes met as they simultaneously rolled backwards, the pair of them both knowing that they would have to come up with something that would involve not stressing out their mum.
Maybe they would take them for a day out at the beach.
Kiyara Gayle released a small gasp as an idea came to mind that would make sure that her mum was okay whilst also meaning that the girls would be able to have fun and not be super silent.
Her hand rapidly reached in to the pocket of her jeans in order to send a text message, her caramel skin glowing not only from her skincare routine but also with happiness since she knew that her idea would be perfect.
Her dark brown eyes sparkled with joy as she received an answer in only a matter of seconds since she knew that her best friend was always very quick with responding to her text messages.
Mainly because they were almost always emergencies, but also because he loved his best friend and was always upset that they barely got to hang out anymore due to the fact that Kiyara was always caring for her mother.
"We'll take the girls for a day out with Zhou, he says that he'll pick us up at the same time that Seb drops the girls off here." Kiyara grinned at her brother, seeing a smile light up his face, his skin glowing at being able to get out of the house to spend time with friends.
Usually, at least one of them had to stay with Kimona since she would often have severe moods swings, and episodes or sometimes even hallucinations, which meant that they always tried to stay with her to make sure that she was okay and not in danger in any way.
They were always trying to find solutions but they knew that their mum's issues couldn't just be fixed instantly with a single pill. It would take a lot of time, and determination.
They knew that it wouldn't ever be fixed, they just hoped that it would become manageable for the three of them so that they could all go out in to the world and live, because they were lucky to be alive.
So many others didn't have that, so many people that deserved to live, hadn't, so they just wanted to enjoy the world and their lives whilst they could.
But their mum came first, she always did. She was their priority.
"Tell him that he still owes me that basketball game rematch because it wasn't my fault that the hoop snapped, I need to kick his ass." Kemar laughed, wrinkles forming around his chocolate brown eyes as he smiled, his brain flashing back to the wheeze that had left the lips of both him and Zhou as the basketball hoop that they were using had snapped in half after a dunk.
They had bought thought that they were dying in that moment since they could barely breathe. He wanted more of those moments to happen, but he had to look after his mum, she had birthed him, raised him to the best that she could amongst her struggles, he owed it to her.
After all, if he hadn't been born, maybe his mum would be happy in her life.
Maybe, just maybe, he was the cause of it.
