Ch.2

"Haha! Nice water trick, Cass!" David laughed as he and the other kids sat at the beach.

Cassandra grinned, "why, thank you, David." "No fair!" Alexis exclaimed with a pout, "you're Poseidon's Succesor! You control water!"

"I'm not his only Successor, Alex," Cassandra chuckled. "And yet he treats you like his favorites," Angelina said with a smirk.

Cassandra rolled her eyes and the others snickered. She looked towards the sunset and smiled.

"I want this to last," she said softly.

Cassandra slowly opened her eyes and she felt her face was wet with tears. She sat up and rubbed her face, sniffling a little.

"Get a grip," she said softly, "you're gonna be okay." She got up and walked into the kitchen.

She decided to turn on the tv as she made herself some breakfast.

"In other news, there have been incidents of teenagers disappearing," the reporter said, "either during a thunderstorm or in the middle of the night. Police are investigating as best as they can."

Cassandra frowned as she made pancakes and scrambled eggs. She didn't want to think about it. She really didn't.

She closed her eyes and took a breath before she let it out. She fiddled with a necklace. It was a Trident.

She hadn't taken it off since she left Olympus.

Once she finished making breakfast, she made herself a plate and started eating as she changed the channel.

Whatever was playing served as white noise as she continued eating.

She looked through her phone again but after a few moments, she set it down and she set her plate aside. She bounced her leg, clasping her hands together.

Cassandra didn't know why yesterday was near the front of her mind. She didn't know why Silas had suddenly shown up but she dreaded the fact that it was about her.

She gripped her pant legs, her eyes glinting sea green. She glanced at the sink as she heard the pipes creak.

She narrowed her eyes before she closed them and exhaled as her tense shoulders slowly relaxed.

There was a knock at the door and she tensed up. She looked at the door and stared at it.

She sure as hell wasn't expecting anyone, let alone a package.

She slowly got up.

"Cassandra."

She felt her blood turn cold as she recognized Silas's voice. She silently but quickly hurried into her bedroom.

She pulled open her drawers and hurriedly through the clothes before she pulled out a light gray and white sword.

She put it in the scabbard and grabbed a backpack. She had filled it with clothes and food that she needed in case she would take a long needed trip.

'Thank gods I thought this through before,' she thought. She quickly opened the window and climbed out onto the staircase.

The door broke open as Silas and two other teenagers, Markos Xenidis and Iosif Siskou, stormed into the room.

Silas narrowed his eyes and he looked at his companions, "search the room. She could be hiding."

The two nodded and went to the bedroom.

Markos looked around before he noticed the open window and he cursed. "Silas, she went out the window!"

Silas growled, "let's go!"

Cassandra ran down the street, panting heavily. She didn't know where she was going at first but she knew she had to get away from the Successors of Ares.

"Out of the way!" "Move!"

Out the corner of her eye, she saw Silas, Markos and Iosif.

Looking forward, she sped up her gait and turned thr corner. She quickly climbed up the fence.

"Cassandra!"

She whipped her head to see Silas, Markos and Iosif slowly coming towards her.

'Keep running! Don't stop! RUN!' A voice screamed in her mind. She narrowed her eyes.

"What do you want?" She growled.

"Well... it's not what we want," Silas said, "but it's what Zeus wants. And what he wants is for you to come home."

"Zeus can kiss my ass," Cassandra snapped and Iosif nearly tensed when thunder rumbled in the distance. Markos frowned at the girl, "don't make this difficult."

Cassandra's eyes glowed sea green and water slammed into Silas, sending him flying into Iosif.

Cassandra jumped down on the other side and took off running. But she didn't get very far when a searing pain rushed through her leg. She stumbled forward and looked at her leg. There was a cut on the side of it. Blood ran down her leg and she saw a golden spear.

"Bullseye," Markos smirked. Cassandra growled before she looked around and she quickly limped out into another part of the city.

She exhaled sharply and she hurried over to a nearby car.

She hid behind it and gripped at her leg. She felt tears sting her eyes and she gritted her teeth. She knew she wasn't going to get anywhere unless she needed to use her powers.

Cassandra looked at her hands before she pushed herself to her feet and ran forward. She ran into an alleyway and held her breath. The sounds of cars rushing by filled her ears and she clenched her eyes shut tight.

She slowly opened her eyes, darkness filling the edges of her vision. The last thing she saw was a nineteen year old boy coming towards her.

A ten year old Cassandra sat on the steps, fiddling with a small dagger. Footsteps walked up beside her.

"You should not be playing with that," a voice said and she looked up at Poseidon.

He had ivory skin, raven black hair and bright sea green eyes. He wore a silk robe decorated with golden and sea green swirls that reminded Cassandra of the waves of the sea.

"Sorry but I wasn't playing," Cassandra said. The God sat down beside her, "did one of Athena's Successors give that to you?"

"Mmmaybe?" She said with a nervous smile. Poseidon raised an eyebrow and he held his hand out to her.

She pouted and delicately placed the dagger in his palm.

"How am I supposed to defend myself if you won't let me train like the Successors of Ares or Artemis?" She asked.

"Your time will come when you reach the age of nineteen, Cassandra," Poseidon said in a fatherly tone and he gently rubbed her head.

"Trust me," he said.

Cassandra slowly came to and her eyes scanned the room. It was a living room. She sat up and saw the nineteen year old boy in the kitchen.

She tensed up as she watched him. He had blonde hair and porcelain skin.

He paused and glanced at her. "If I was going to hurt you, I would have left you in that alleyway, Cass," he said.

Cassandra frowned, "Zacharias." He smiled, his blue eyes glinting in the light.

"How long has it been since you left?" He asked as he walked over and sat down.

"Two years," she replied quickly, looking away. She couldn't meet his eyes. Or rather... she didn't want to.

Zacharias Gianeas was one of Apollo's best Successors. And he was an incredibly devoted healer. He had learned from the God of Healing himself and most of the Successors back on Olympus envied him.

Especially Hermione Stamoti, Successor of Artemis.

While Cassandra had been around, she had known that the two rarely got along. They were always seen glaring at each other. And it was strange, seeing them despise each other considering they were the Successors of the two Godly Twins.

Zacharias looked at Cassandra, "...more will come. I told Alexis and the others."

Cassandra looked at him in shock.

"They miss you a lot," he said softly. Cassandra stared at him before she looked away and wiped her eyes, trying to stop the tears from falling.

It hurt now, to remember the ones she had made a home with. The ones who were always there with her in every moment.

She lowered her head, feeling the guilt settle in her chest. Zacharias reached out and placed his hand over hers.

"They don't blame you for anything in the slightest," he said, "they're worried about you."

Cassandra looked at him before she hugged him tightly, burying her face into his chest.

He hugged her back.

She felt tears roll down her cheeks as she clutched at him. She didn't want to let go.

'Why...? Why am I crying? I don't have the right,' she thought bitterly as she sobbed against his chest, 'I left... I left.'

Zacharias rubbed her back in comfort before he looked at the door as there was a knock. Cassandra looked at it, her shoulders tensing up.

"Zacharias?"

The blonde walked over and opened it. David looked at Cassandra and he smiled, "hey, you."
