Aera turned to him, "Hey, Kook! I missed you so much! This week has been so boring without you at home to trouble!"
Jungkook smiled, "I missed you too, Rere!"
As they continued chatting, most of the staff and other people left, leaving only a few in the place. Jennie was engaged in a conversation with Taehyung now. As Aera noticed she and Jungkook were alone and had privacy, her face turned serious. She held Jungkook's hand and asked, "Kook... Are you really okay? He didn't hurt you, did he? He didn't force himself on you or hit you, right? Because if he did, please tell me... Please don't bear it... I'll help you."
Jungkook smiled as he placed his hand over Aera's, squeezing it reassuringly. "No, Rere, he isn't hurting me at all. He's a great guy. I feel a lot happier than I was at home. His family is really amazing too."
Aera's eyes softened, but she still looked skeptical. "Are you sure, Kook? You don't have to put on a brave face for me."
Jungkook shook his head, " No... I am really very happy there."
Aera nodded, a smile appearing on her face, " So... How is your relationship with Taehyung? like he doesn't hurt you, but are you on good terms? or do you ignore each other? is he kind and nice? or is he rude and cold like the news articles say about him?"
Jungkook smiled warmly, his eyes lighting up with genuine affection. "He is nothing like those news articles. Well, maybe he was like that before, but he wants to give this marriage a genuine chance and is trying very hard. It's actually kind of amazing."
Aera looked at him intently, her skepticism giving way to curiosity. "Really? Tell me more. What's he like?"
Jungkook looked into nothingness as he spoke, a dreamy smile on his face, "It's only been two weeks since our marriage but he has done so much for me. He took me out on a few dates to cafés, restaurants, places like that. We went on a long walk together and spent an entire day at Ji-eun noona's café, just reading. He doesn't read much and isn't very fond of it, but he spent the whole day reading just to be with me. And when I went on a rant about the book I was reading, he listened without getting bored."
Aera's expression softened as she listened. "That sounds really sweet."
Jungkook nodded, his smile growing. "It is. And it's not just that. He smiled instead of getting angry when I told him I can't cook, and then he cooked dinner himself. He always holds the door for me. He cuddles me when I can't sleep, just to make me feel safe and comforted. He's incredibly honest with me, answering all my questions truthfully without any hesitation. It's like he's genuinely trying to be the best husband he can be."
Aera smiled, squeezing Jungkook's hand. "I'm really happy to hear that, Kook. It sounds like you're in good hands."
Jungkook's eyes sparkled with emotion. "I am, Rere. He's really great. He makes me feel these little butterflies in my stomach whenever I look at him, or when he talks to me, or when he smiles at me. It's... it's like he's becoming my everything."
Aera smiled but asked, sadly, "So... you're not in love with BamBam anymore?"
Jungkook chuckled softly, his eyes reflecting a mix of nostalgia and newfound clarity. "I... I thought I was in love with BamBam, but it turns out I wasn't. Despite writing so many love stories, I didn't really know what being in love truly means. If I had, it wouldn't have been so easy to let Taehyung in. Besides, why should I settle for BamBam, who couldn't even stand up for us, when I have Taehyung, who's trying his best to make me happy?"
Aera nodded slowly, understanding dawning in her eyes. "I see what you mean. It sounds like Taehyung really cares about you."
Jungkook's smile widened, his face glowing with happiness. "He does, Rere. He really does. Taehyung is always there for me, making me feel valued and loved. BamBam never did that. With Taehyung, I feel like I'm finally experiencing what true love is supposed to be."
Aera squeezed his hand gently, her eyes softening with affection. "I'm so glad you found that, Kook. You deserve nothing less."
They both hugged tightly, savoring the moment. Jungkook felt a wave of gratitude for Aera's unwavering support. As they pulled away from the hug, they knew it was time to go home.
Jungkook walked over to Taehyung, who was still deep in conversation with Jennie. When Taehyung saw Jungkook approaching, he smiled warmly.
Jungkook asked, "Ready to go?"
Taehyung nodded, a tender look in his eyes. "Absolutely." He held out his hand for Jungkook, who gladly took it, their fingers intertwining naturally.
As they walked out of the venue toward their car, Taehyung opened the door for Jungkook, who slid in with a smile. Taehyung then walked around to the driver's side and got in. They exchanged a look that spoke volumes, filled with unspoken words and deep connection.
Aera watched them from a distance, a genuine smile on her face. She felt a warmth in her heart, seeing her brother so happy and cherished.
As Jungkook and Taehyung drove home, the car was filled with a comfortable silence. They didn't need to speak; their presence alone was enough. The city lights flickered outside the windows, casting a soft glow inside the car.
Taehyung turned to Jungkook while still driving. "You were so great on stage today! You were so natural and amazing!"
Jungkook smiled, a warmth spreading across his cheeks. "Thank you. I love my readers and interacting with them. It naturally boosts my confidence and makes it easy to connect with them."
Taehyung's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, glancing at Jungkook. "Still, it was amazing to see you like that! By the way, I was thinking... Did you really mean all that you said while quoting the Obsessed series? The things you said about love and what it really means?"
Jungkook looked out the window for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "Yes, I did. Damon Sokolov's character and his journey have always been close to my heart. His love for Alex, the sacrifices he made... it resonates with me on a deep level."
Taehyung's grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly as he processed Jungkook's words. "It's incredible how you can pour so much emotion into your writing. It feels so real."
Jungkook turned to face him, his expression earnest. "That's because, in a way, it is real. When I talk about Damon's devotion and his willingness to go to extremes, it reflects a human desire for unconditional love. True love isn't about grand gestures or romantic moments, but about the willingness to do whatever it takes to protect the one you love, even if it means losing everything in the process."
Taehyung's eyes softened as he listened intently. "So, when you talk about Damon's devotion, you're talking about the kind of love you want in your own life?"
Jungkook nodded slowly. "Exactly. Damon's selflessness and the way he loves Alex, it's profound. It shows that beneath his rough exterior and dangerous persona, there's a man capable of deep love and sacrifice. It's a love willing to face death, to give up everything, just to ensure the happiness and safety of another. And I think that's something we all long for—a love that is unconditional and all-encompassing."
Taehyung took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving the road. "I understand now. It's not just a story for you; it's a reflection of your hopes and dreams."
Jungkook's voice softened. "Yes, it is. And I hope that maybe, just maybe, we can find that kind of love together. I know we didn't choose this marriage, but I want to give it a real chance. I want to build something meaningful with you."
Taehyung smiled, a genuine warmth in his eyes. "I want that too, Jungkook. I really do. Hearing you talk about love like this makes me want to be the person who can give you that."
Jungkook's eyes teared up, hearing that. No one had ever made him feel so wanted, so loved. No one had ever tried so much to be in his life and fulfill his dreams. He looked outside, wiping the silent tear that slid across his cheek. Despite the tears, there was a genuine smile on his face.
"Thank you, Taehyung," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "I never thought I'd find someone who would care this much."
Taehyung squeezed Jungkook's hand gently. "You deserve it, Jungkook. And I want to be that person for you."
Jungkook turned to Taehyung, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I believe you. And I'm willing to give this everything I've got."
Taehyung's smile widened, his heart swelling with affection. "We're in this together. We'll make it work, one step at a time."
