Chapter 9: I am NOT wearing that thing
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed and excited for school today. I took a little extra time getting ready for school. I straightened my hair, put on a little bit of makeup, and even wore a skirt.
It wasn't anything super fancy, but it made me feel even better. For some odd reason, I had a really good feeling about today.
I skipped down stairs and grabbed a granola bar to munch on before I left for school.
My parents were already down there, dressed and making coffee. "Hey mom?" "Yes honey?" she replied. "When is Austin coming home?" My brother had been away for the last month at college. He came home to see me on my first day of senior year, but left shortly after I did.
"He's going to be coming home for your birthday party." That's good. Although he was only gone for a month, I missed him so much. Granted we did always argue like an old married couple, but I still loved him.
I wonder what he'll bring home this time. This must be a good omen if my brother is coming home earlier than expected.
I sat down on a stool and pulled out my phone.
As I was scrolling through my phone, I got a notification that my favorite athletic store was having a sale.
Yes! I've been needing some new tennis shoes and tank tops to work out in. I made sure to screenshot the coupon they had on their website before heading outside. It was sunny, but not to hot out. The slight breeze cooled the heat from the sun.
Even the weather was perfect today. Something amazing was going to happen.
---
Okay, so I was wrong. Today turned out to be the crappiest day ever. It all started when I was on my way to school. I was minding my own business, singing along to the radio as one does when they drive alone, when suddenly a thought struck me.
Well, more like a car.
Someone rear-ended me. I was stopped at a red light and they weren't paying attention and didn't stop in time. Luckily, nobody was hurt. I got their information and sent it to my mom after telling her what happened.
It wasn't too bad, just a couple of dents and scratches, but still, this little accident caused me to be late to school. My teacher wasn't happy with me, even thought I explained to him 10 times that I got in a car accident that wasn't my fault.
And to add more insult to injury, when I sat down I fell out of my chair leaving me with a bruise on my side. I swore that one of my stitches popped. Luckily, I'll get them out Saturday so it shouldn't be too big of a deal.
A few minutes after I finally got settled in, someone tapped me on the shoulder. "Uhm, excuse me?"
"What do you want?" I snapped. My good mood from this morning was ruined at this point. Only a shred was left. "You're bleeding on your back."
And there goes that last shred. "Ugh! Could this day get any worse?" I twisted in my seat, but I wasn't a fucking owl that could turn my head all the way around. Since I wasn't able to see it, I had the kid from behind me take a picture of it.
My white shirt was now soaked with a blood stain the size of my fist. Why do all my white shirts end up ruined? I raised my hand to notify the teacher. That's when things got even worse.
When he saw the blood, he fainted. Like his eyes rolled back in his head and everything. The class all rushed up to see if he was okay. I managed to slip out of the classroom amidst all the chaos.
Standing outside my class was Parker. He looked like he was chewing on something. "Parker. What are you doing here?" He jumped at the sound of my voice. The thing he was chewing on flew out of his hand. Upon further inspection I noticed it was a vape.
"Vaping? Really? That's so bad for you," I scolded him. He was an athlete, he should know better than to do something like that. "Yeah well I just needed a break from school," he scowled at me.
"Needed a break? Parker it's barely 9 am. What could possibly have you stressed that bad?"
"Nothing. It's just something he told me before school is all."
"What did he tell you?" I asked. "That if I don't get at least a C on my next math test than I can't come to practice until I'm passing. What are you even doing out here anyways?"
"Yeah, about that. I need you to take me to the nurse."
"What? Why?" his voice trailed off as I turned around to show him what happened.
"What the fuck?" he exclaimed. "How did this even happen?" he shouted at me. "I fell out of my chair and popped one of the stitches. I thought I was fine so I ignored it, but then the kid behind me noticed that I was bleeding quite a bit. So, I told the teacher but he fainted when I showed him so I just left and was going to go on my own."
He stared at me in shock. Yeah I know, the story was a little crazy, and I hadn't even told him about my car accident this morning.
"Let me take you to the nurse. I may not like you, but I'm not going to just abandon a bleeding girl." He squatted down and looked up at me.
Meanwhile, I looked down at him in confusion. What did he think he was doing? "Parker I can still walk." He got up, embarrassed.
"Well, let's go then."
We walked in silence to the nurse's office. There was an awkward silence wrapped around us. It felt weird that Parker was the one helping me. Normally he doesn't help me. I could tell from the look on his face that he was as uncomfortable as me while doing this.
We arrived after an eternity of silence, and told the nurse what happened. She made Parker turn around so I could take off my shirt so she could access the damage. I heard a little gasp when she saw my stitches.
"Well, it looks like almost half of your stitches came out. There's also some bruising near your neck. Any idea what that's from?" She asked me. "Well I got in a small car accident this morning so it's probably from my seat belt stopping me from flying forward."
I saw her and Parker's face look more shocked than before. "Don't worry, I'm not an accident magnet or anything, I'm just having an off day today."
"The first thing I'm going to do is clean the wound and take out your old stitches. Then I will put in new ones. It looks like it was almost healed but because of today, you will most likely have to have them in for another 2 weeks."
"What?" I shrieked sitting up. I momentarily forgot that I was only in a bra. I covered my chest with my arms an looked at the nurse. "How am I supposed to have my pool party this weekend?"
"You can't. Unless you don't go swimming."
"Great," grumbled as I laid back down. The nurse spoke again, but this time it wasn't directed at me. "Parker can you clean off her wound while I prepare the tools? Be careful to not touch her remaining stitches. You don't want to pull those ones out too."
"What?!"
"WHAT?!" We both shouted at the same time.
"I don't want his dirty hands on me."
"I don't want to touch her. That's disgusting. It's like touching a pig that rolled around in mud and horse shit."
In my head I was stabbing him with daggers, but in reality it was just me giving him the meanest look I can muster right now. "You didn't have to go that far. I don't want you to touch me either, but I didn't call you a pig, you dickhead."
"No, but you did just call me a dickhead," he smirked. "Oh for heavens sake, stop bickering. Parker you will clean her wound or else I will give you detention."
"Can you even do that?" he scoffed. "No, but I can tell your teacher you skipped class to vape. Don't think I can't smell it on you."
He grumbled something, but I couldn't make out what it was. Much to our reluctance, the school nurse handed him a wet cloth to clean up the dried blood.
I shivered a little when the cloth came into contact with my skin. "Didn't know me touching you would cause such a reaction Anders."
"Oh shut up. I shivered because the cloth is cold. Now hurry up and clean me."
"Yes your majesty." I rolled my eyes at him.
Once that was done, the nurse put numbing spray on my back and began to work. Halfway through the process, the bell rang.
I saw Parker get up to leave but the nursed yelled at him. "STOP!" He slowly turned around, with an annoyed look. "What now?" he whined. "You will not leave here until I'm done, and then you will escort this young lady to her next class. You got it?"
"But-"
"No buts," she interrupted, "You got it?"
"Yes," he mumbled. "What was that?" "I said yes!" he exclaimed with a huff. She finished up the rest of the stitches fairly quick and put a bandage over them and instructions on how to take care of them.
Once she was done, I stormed out of her office and took my next class. "Blaze?"
I turned around with an angry look on my face. "What?" I snapped. I was really tired and annoyed right now and it was only 9:30. "Your shirt still has the blood on it. As funny as it would be to see you walk around like that, I think the nurse would skin me alive if she saw that."
"Your point being?" I scoffed. I was aware that I had a giant red stain on the back of my shirt but I didn't bring a change of clothes so I was forced to wear this for the rest of the day. "I'm saying that you can wear my hoodie. I don't really like it that much, so it doesn't bother me if it's being worn by a pig." He smiled like he had done something worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.
"No thanks, I'll just borrow something from Sophia. I am NOT wearing that thing."
I turned away and kept walking but someone pulled me back. "What-" a piece of fabric was slipped over my head and Parker slipped my arms through the sleeves. "Is this really necessary?" I grumbled.
"Yes," he whispered, "the nurse is watching us. Now keep it on until we get to your class." I glanced over his shoulder and saw the nurse staring at us intently. We both walked to class as quickly as we could.
Soon, it was once again time for lunch. I was in a mood from this morning and didn't feel like eating so the only thing I grabbed was an apple. I sat down at my usual table and waited for Sophia to come.
Right when I was about to bite into my apple, I saw a girl approaching me. She looked vaguely familiar. "What do you think you are doing slut?" she screeched in my ear. "What the hell? Who are you calling a slut?" I exclaimed jumping up from my seat.
I took a good look at her face and slowly remembered who she was. Her name was Apple, ironic I know, and she was willing to sleep with any guy in this school. It's kind of sad that she thought she needed to sleep around to become popular.
I think she might've slept with Parker a couple years ago or something. From what I recall, she had a big hissy fit when Parker rejected her in front of everyone. It was one of the only times I've ever admired him.
Back to the situation at hand. Apple was staring at me fuming. I swear if I squinted hard enough I could see steam coming out of her ears.
"Why are you wearing my boyfriend's hoodie? He would never sleep with someone like you, so why do you have it?" she spat in disgust.
"Excuse me? Someone like me? What the fuck does that even mean?" I looked at her and was prepared to slap the shit out of her if she said one more bad thing about me. "You know, a disgusting pig who can only afford things from the thrift stores," she sneered in my face.
That's it. Before I registered it, my fist was coming into contact with her left cheek. "Shut up!" I yelled. "You know nothing about me. I may not have as much money as you, but I'm sure as hell not poor just because I don't go around wearing designer clothes. Now shut your mouth before I punch you and you have to get another new nose."
"You bitch!" she screamed. I saw her lunge for me, but I ducked under her arms and grabbed her arm, flipping her onto the table. "Do. Not. Mess. With. Me."
I stormed out of the cafeteria, leaving everyone in shock. Today was getting worse and worse. The only safe space now was the bathroom.
I slammed the door open, scaring the freshman girl doing their makeup. They all scurried out when they saw the look on my face. I could care less.
"AHHHHH!" I screamed kicking the wall. I was so angry right now I could hardly think. My fist was shaking and hot tears were streaming down my face. I hate being called a slut or bitch, especially from someone like Apple.
She has no right to talk to me like that. I ripped off the hoodie and threw it in the trash, letting out another scream before I slid to the ground in a pile of angry tears.
"Blaze? Are you in here?"
I looked up at the door. "Blaze is not here right now, leave a message after the beep. Beep." I muttered sarcastically.
"Blaze, come on. Open the door. I want to help you." Sighing, I crawled over to the door and opened it.
"Scottie?"
"Hey," he said.
"How did you know I was in here?" In my anger, I didn't bother to look at the people watching mine and Apple's fight.
"Park- I mean I saw you run in here and you looked hurt so I thought I would come check up on you. What happened in there?" he asked. His eyebrows were furrowed together in concern.
"It was nothing. Apple was just being a bitch."
"Tell me about it," he joked. "Ever since Parker rejected her 2 years ago, she's been clinging on to him trying to get him back. She's a complete psycho. We can't seem to get rid of her."
I let out a small laugh. "That is pretty pathetic. He already rejected her, now she's just desperate."
He laughed a little and looked away at the door. "I texted Parker before I came and he said he would find Sophia and bring her here."
"Thank you," I stated.
"No problem."

This chapter only took me an hour to right and I'm kind of shook. Normally it takes me at least 2-3 hours to write this much. Anyways, I hoped you guys liked this drama filled chapter.
