Chapter 39: Oh, it's on!

Parker and I were currently in his kitchen attempting to make waffles from scratch. Key word being attempted.

Neither one of us knows how to make them, and I'm not the best person to work with in the kitchen. Last time I made eggs I burned them, I don't know how, but I did.

Anyways, Parker has been trying to convince me for the last 10 minutes to give up on the waffles and just watch a movie while we cuddle on the couch together. He wiggled his eyebrows all stupidly at me, and I rolled my eyes when I realized what he was hinting at.

He said if I didn't at least watch the movie with him, I wouldn't get any more chicken nuggets from him, which I think should get him placed in jail for attempted murder by deprivation of chicken nuggets.

"Come on you can't do that! It's not fair!"

"Want to bet?" Parker smirked at me as he slowly walked forward, cornering me against the kitchen counter. He put his hands on the counter on either side of me, effectively trapping me in.

I tried wiggling out, but he was pressed up against me, so it was impossible to move. It also doesn't help that he's over a foot taller than me. He was still smirking down at me like he knew he was going to win, but I had noticed something when I was trying to find an escape.

An open cartoon of eggs laid only a few inches from my fingers, and if I stretched my fingers enough, I was able to reach them.

In order to distract Parker, I did the only thing I could think of: I kissed him.

Whatever he was planning on doing, he immediately abandoned that idea and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling us even closer. I wrapped one of my hands around strands of his hair and tugged a little, causing him to moan into my mouth.

I shudder wrecked through me, and it took all the self control I had to stay focused on the task at hand. When he bit my bottom lip asking for permission, I knew I had him right where I wanted.

Without any warning, I pulled away and smashed the egg on top of his head, where I had just been playing with his hair.

Parker's eyes widened the tiniest bit as he looked up at me trying to look mad. His mouth kept twitching up at the corners, a dead give away that he wasn't actually mad. In fact, his eyes had a hint of pride in them.

It was cute that he tried to hide it.

A smile made it's way onto my lips as I stared Parker down. God, I missed this. Arguing, or rather fake arguing, with Parker gives me life, as weird as that sounds. It's never boring when I'm with him.

While he was distracted by the egg, I grabbed another one, smashed it across his cheek, and took off running, and ran right up the stairs. "Oh, it's on!" I heard him shout after me. Since I knew he was way faster than me, I hid in the first place I found, which was behind the couch in his living room.

And I kid you not, I had to hold back the loudest snort/laugh combination, because Parker ran by my spot not once, not twice, but five times looking for me. He was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.

My stomach was clenching from holding in my laughter, my knees were starting to hurt from crouching for so long, and I had the sudden urge to go pee.

How come whenever I hid from someone I always had the urge to go pee? Oh, whatever, that's not important right now.

At one point, he slipped on the tile floor near the front door, and banged his elbow on the ground. I felt a little bad, but it was so funny that I started laughing, and couldn't control it anymore.

He must've heard me laughing, because his head snapped up and he started looking around for me. Since Parker already looked sad enough, I decided to put the poor boy out of his misery. I stood up from my spot and walked over to the sad excuse for a boy, clapping and laughing at the same time.

"Parker, Parker, Parker. Are you really that blind? You ran past me like 5 times." I smirked down at the frowning boy. I put my hand out to help him up, but that was a mistake.

He took the chance to tug on my arm, making me topple on him. Instead of frowning, he was now smirking from the position we were in. My legs were straddling him and my hands were on either side of his head, keeping myself propped up so I wouldn't fall on top of him.

I could see the look in his eyes; it was the same look he gave me right before he kissed me. I saw him lean in slightly, but backed away.

"Nope! You aren't getting any more kisses from me until you go get cleaned up."

"Ugh, really?" Parker exclaimed. I gave him a flat look. "Yes, really," I said. "Now go shower and then come help me finish cleaning the kitchen."

"Yes, ma'am!" he exclaimed, jumping up and running into his bathroom. I chuckled as Parker raced up the stairs. God, he was such an idiot, but he was my idiot, so it was okay.

By the time I got the area where Parker and I fell cleaned spotless, Parker had already managed to finish showering and ran downstairs with his hair sopping wet, leaving a trail of small water puddles behind.

"So when are your parents going to be home?" I asked as I sprayed some disinfectant on the counter and started wiping it down.

"My mom texted me an hour ago and said that they were going to be staying the night with some friends, because apparently they drank too much and don't want to drive home."

"At least they were being responsible," I replied, tossing him a rag. He looked up at me. "What about you're parents? Aren't they wondering where you are?"

I had already thought this through when I came over here in the first place. I know our parents get along now and everything, but I didn't feel like telling them where I was going, so I told them I would be spending the night at Sophia's.

"I said I was spending the night at Sophia's. And before you say anything, yes, I'm aware I'm lying to my parents."

Parker's smirk dropped and he had this sad puppy-dog look on his face. "No fair, you knew what I was going to say before I even said it." He was whining like a little kid right now.

"That's because I know you too well." I loved the fact that despite how much we used to hate each other, we still knew every last detail about the other person, down to which ways they preferred to tie the laces on their shoes. I stood on my toes and placed a quick kiss on his cheek and walked away.

"I'm going to go watch a movie, but you can join me if you like," I shouted over my shoulder.

Parker ran up next to me with a shit-eating grin on his face and shouted all seriously, even saluting me, "Yes ma'am!"

I laughed at his stupidity. I can't believe this was the guy I'm in love with.

The following Monday was very interesting for 2 reasons: one, people at the school found out Parker and I were now a thing, and two, apparently Stephen and Andrew made their relationship public.

The news of me and Parker dating wasn't as surprising to people, because I think most of them thought we were already dating anyways. Which isn't completely wrong now that I think about it. There were times where we acted like an old married couple.

Stephen and Andrew, however took everyone by surprise. Since neither one of them had ever had a boyfriend before, only girlfriends, no one thought they were gay.

Shockingly enough, everyone at the school was supportive of it. People are coming up to them in the hallways congratulating them, giving them high-fives, and some girls even came up to Andrew and said they wanted to be invited to their wedding.

Even the football team was supportive, which was a little odd because we all thought they were homophobic, but hey, it's a good thing they aren't.

It just came as a shock to me, because we live in a small conservative city, so I would've thought more people would be against. Andrew's mom, however, is another story.

All that time ago when Andrew told me his mom kicked him out and he had been living with Stephen and his family, and his mother still hadn't apologized or taken him back. He was still living with his boyfriend's family.

As the weeks dragged by, Andrew (and Stephen) both got more anxious about the situation with his mom. Andrew's dad was still in that house, and from the looks of it, things weren't getting any better. Now that Andrew is gone, his dad only became a bigger target.

We've tried coming up with plans, but it's hard. His dad doesn't have enough money saved up to get a divorce, or even to move out. We thought we could get Parker's parents to pay for it, but Andrew refuses to take their money.

He said it would make him feel like a charity case. And that's totally understandable, but I just wish there was something else we could do for him. I hate seeing Andrew stress over this, and knowing his dad is trapped in that toxic marriage is heart breaking.

Which is why today during last period, we were all sitting in the furthest corner of the library trying to think of ways we could get his father out of there instead of being in class.

We weren't very successful, so in the end, we went our separate ways back to class. When Parker and I arrived in history, Mr. Ford raised his eyebrow at us and said "And why are you two late?"

Parker had the audacity to say, "Sorry, Mr. Ford. You see, me and my girlfriend here were just so horny that we couldn't control ourselves and had to go have wild sex in the janitor's closet. But don't worry, we used protection."

As soon as those words left his mouth, I elbowed him as hard as I could in the stomach, earning me a satisfying grunt of pain from Parker. The teacher turned to me with a scowl on his face. "Is this true Ms. Anderson?"

"No, it's not. We were busy working on a project for English and we lost track of time. I am so sorry, it won't happen again."

He deemed that a worthy excuse and let us head to our seats at the back of the class. When we sat down, I made a face as my eyes quickly glanced to the front of the room and then to the idiot sitting next to me.

"He's eating a pack of cheese, AGAIN."

"Does that really surprise you?" Parker whispered in my ear. We spent the rest of class throwing comebacks at the other to see who could come up with the best one. I spent most of the time scowling at how stupid Parker's comebacks were, while he kept grinning at me the entire time.

Right as the bell was about to ring allowing us to run to our freedom, or more commonly known as the end of the day, Mr. Ford stopped all of us. "Now, I know winter break is coming up in two weeks, but I would just like to say that I still expect you guys to complete the homework packet I will be giving you guys."

"It is due the day you guys come back. I will be handing it out next week so those of you who want to can get a jump start on it," he said right as the bell rang.

I sprung out of my seat, not wanting to listen to his monotone voice any longer, with Parker trailing behind me. We were going to go to the mall together after school today, but we had to stop by our lockers first to drop off some books.

Since his locker was closer, we stopped at Parker's locker first. He, however, didn't let me look inside his locker. He insisted it was because it was a mess, but I knew there was something else he was hiding.

"Come on, just let me have one little peak!" I whined.

"NO!" he almost shouted at me. "It's a mess in here right now, and I don't want you to see that." There was now a slight pink tinge to his cheeks. Oh come on, whatever he was hiding couldn't be that bad.

"Hey Parker." For a split second, Parker turned around to see who had called his name, and I took this as my opportunity to reach over and open his locker door wider so I could see inside.

Let's just say what was on the inside was not what I was expecting.

I know this chapter is shorter than normal, but we are getting to the end of this story. There will be a max of 45 chapters, but there could be less. It'll most likely end around 42-ish chapters, depending on what I write.
