Chapter 25: Are you seeing someone?

"Probably not, but it would get him out of the house and distracted. He probably just mopes around the house thinking about her, being all sad and depressed. We need to fix that."

"How do you know he'd be acting like that?" I've never in my life seen Parker mope around, but maybe this would be a first.

"For starters, I've been his best friend for 10 years, so I know everything about him. Plus, I'm a guy, it's what guys do when they get rejected by a girl. Well, it's either that or sleep with a bunch of other girls, but I liked to think Parker would go with the first option."

"But why not the second option? He's already a player, so that one would make more sense," I said.

"Maybe, but Parker is much different than he appears at school. For instance, he's actually very sensitive. I once caught him crying while watching the Notebook."

I snorted, but covered it up with a cough. "Parker watched the Notebook?"

"Yeah, and Titanic, and The Princess Bride. And he cried for all of them." We were both laughing our asses off. I was not expecting that from Parker. Something to tease him about later. Scottie just unknowingly added another weapon to my arsenal of comebacks against his best friend.

"Alright, I think I should get going. My mom's probably wondering where I am," Scottie stated. "You'll be at school tomorrow, right?" he asked me.

"Yup!" I exclaimed. He said goodbye and left.

This was very exciting. My first boyfriend, and he was a guy like Scottie. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect first boyfriend. It was even cuter considering we both had secret crushes on each other for years.

With a happy smile on my face, I walked into the kitchen to help only to find that the food was ready and everyone was sitting at the dining room table. "Finally," Parker grumbled.

Sighing, I sat down and everyone began to dig in. I guess they were all waiting for me to come back before they ate.

The dinner was very good, but everyone was very silent. Parker didn't even try teasing me. He must've been really hungry.

Once my plate was cleared, I helped wash the dishes with Parker's mother before leaving to go home. I was already stretching it by staying for dinner, and I didn't want my mom to had think they kidnapped me.

His parents were actually very nice, and I felt bad for the way things were between our grandparents. They seemed to be very genuine people, not hiding any emotions. They kept smiling and asking me questions about school and friends.

I wonder if I can parent trap my parents and Parker's to sit in one room with each other and talk out their differences. Maybe then they won't hate each other as much.

My mom informed me when I got home that Sophia and Stephen were up in my room waiting for me. Apparently they needed to talk to me about something.

OH! Sophia probably found out who he was dating and wanted to tell me together. Wait, but I thought she wanted to wait.

But, maybe she wants me to use this chance to ambush him and ask him who he's been texting this entire time with that stupid smile on his face.

Yeah, that's it.

The moment I walked in my room, my eyes landed on Stephen sitting on my bed looking a little annoyed. When they saw me walk in, Stephen shot up and walked over to me. This was it, this was my chance to ask.

"Are you seeing someone?"

"Are you seeing someone?"

We both looked at each other and shut up.

Wait, why was he asking me if I was seeing someone? I mean, I am, but it's very, very new. Like only 2 hours new.

"You first."

"Your first." I rolled my eyes at him.

"No you!"

"No you!"

"GUYS!" Sophia yelled over this. That got our attention. We both looked over at her to see her pointing at Stephen. "Stephen, you ask your question first."

"But that's not fair!" I whined.

"Shush, child. The queen has spoken, and Stephen get's to go first." Oh please, she was not a queen. Sophia always said this, just because her great-great grandma was the queens third-cousin twice removed.

She was very, very, VERY distantly related to the British throne, and always brought it up in arguments. Kind of annoying, if you asked me.

One time I made the excuse of not listening, and the next day my math notes I was using to study for my *very* important math test mysteriously disappeared.

"Are you seeing someone?" Stephen asked me.

"Maybe," I mumbled.

"HA! I knew it! You bitch! Why didn't you tell us?" Stephen exclaimed like a child opening presents on his birthday.

"Considering it just happened 2 hours ago, I thought you guys wouldn't know yet," I answered honestly.

"I knew it was going to happen soon," Stephen explained. "The way you're always talking and the way he looks at you, it was pretty obvious." Were we really that obvious?

"I second that. I'm surprised you and Parker didn't start dating sooner," Sophia cut in.

"Yeah, me- wait. Did you say Parker?"

They both nodded their heads. "Why would I be dating him?"

"You were just over at his house for a study date, and you're always laughing around him," they explained. Oh my god! These two and their stupid habit of jumping to conclusions.

"We are most definitely not dating. I was at his house strictly for studying and the only reason I laugh around him is when he does something stupid and I'm making fun of him for it." Geez, how blind must they have been to think I was dating Parker?

I may not hate the guy anymore, but that doesn't mean I would date him.

"Then who are you dating?" Stephen looked very confused. "Scottie..." I trailed, looking at them like they had just told me 2+2 equaled 7.

"Oh, I forgot you still liked him. When did this happen?"

"I was at Parker's house when he called me telling me he had something urgent to ask me, and Parker said it was okay if he came over so he did. He just asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend and I said yes, that's it."

"Cool, I guess." They didn't seem very happy. Odd.

"What about Stephen? Who are you seeing?" I questioned him. His eyes widened in fear. "I'm not s-seeing anyone," he fumbled out.

"Yeah, sure. I saw you texting someone with a heart emoji next to their name and you always have this dumb look on your face when you're texting them."

"Kind of like the dumb look Parker has on his face when he's looking at Blaze," Sophia butted in.

"HEY!" I exclaimed. "He does not look at me like that! He has a crush on someone else for your information, he told me so himself." Sophia chuckled.

"Oh, Blaze. When will you learn to stop lying to yourself? But that is a discussion for another day, right now is Stephen time."

"Yeah, it is. So, back to my question. Are you seeing someone?"

Stephen gulped and sat down on the edge of my bed, avoiding eye contact with us. "You little bitch!" Sophia screeched. Her had slapped him on his shoulder and he snapped his head up and glared at her for a second, but dropped it.

"Sophia, I don't think that's helping. We need to give him room to breathe and tell us himself." Much against her will, she backed down, but was still staring at Stephen waiting for an answer.

"Maybe," He mumbled under his breath.

"Why didn't you tell us?" I asked him, sitting down next to him. I didn't want to rush him or force him to tell us if he wasn't ready. I'm his best friend, I'll be here for him even if he doesn't want to tell us who it is.

"Because, I was scared." Why would he be scared? There's nothing to be scared of. I'm not going to judge him for who he is dating.

"Because, they're not someone I would normally go for. And I was scared to tell you guys because I didn't want you guys to judge me. Plus, if other people found out, they would make fun of me and I'm not ready for that."

"Oh, Stephen," Sophia sighed," We would never make fun of you for who you were dating. You know better than that. We'll be here for you no matter what. And I swear on my dead cat's grave that we won't tell anyone unless you want us to."

"Are you sure?" he seemed genuinely scared right now, and it was making me feel really worried. I mean, how bad must they be for him to be this worried about people finding out. We both nodded our heads and swore up and down that we wouldn't tell.

"I guess I'll tell you guys who it is, but I swear to god if you tell anyone what I'm about to tell you, I will never talk to you again," Stephen threatened.

Again, we swore that we wouldn't.

"Well, I met them a couple weeks ago and we started to become really good friends, but then feelings got involved. And it scared me because I've never felt something like that before. I was scared to tell them, because I thought they didn't like me back. But, then something happened and we ended up kissing and that was that."

"We both confessed that we had a crush on the other, and we started dating in secret, because we're both scared of what other's think."

"I'm so sorry that you have to hide it Stephen. I hope that one day you'll be able to be out with them in public, judgement free," I replied.

"Thanks, Blaze. You don't understand how much this means to me to hear you say that. This was the hardest thing I've ever had to admit, but I wanted to tell you guys because you're my best friends."

"You're welcome," Sophia and I said at the same time.

"Well, I guess I should probably tell him that you guys know now," Stephen said nonchalantly.

"I guess- WAIT! Did you say he?" Sophia exclaimed. Could that be why he was so afraid to tell us? Because it's not a girl?

"Yeah," he said sheepishly.

"Who is it?" I asked excitedly.

To be honest, this doesn't come as a complete surprise. I know he likes girls, but deep down I always had this feeling that he liked guys too. Part of me even shipped him with Andrew when I saw them hanging out at my birthday party.

He mumbled a name, but it was too quiet for us to hear. "Who?" I asked again.

"Andrew," he said a little louder this time. "WHAT?" I shouted. So, I was right all this time? HA! I knew something was going to happen between them. They had the instant connection that only some people have.

I totally called it!

"I didn't know he was gay," Sophia remarked. Stephen then explained to us that Andrew has known that he's gay for a while, but he didn't tell anyone, not even his best friends. He knew his parents wouldn't accept him, and he was scared his friends would react the same way.

"Are you gay then?" Sophia asked.

"No, I think I'm bisexual, which is why this came as a shock to me when I fell for him. I'd always only liked girls, but then he came along and threw that whole notion right out the window. Although, I do still like girls more than guys."

"Can I admit something?" I interrupted them.

"Sure," they both shrugged.

"From the moment you guys first met and were playing video games at my party, I shipped you guys. There was just something about the way you interacted with each other that was so wholesome and cute. But, at the time, I didn't know either of you were gay so I kept this to myself."

"Really?" His eyes widened just a fraction.

"Yeah, I just did."

We talked for a little bit more about how their relationship got started, what they do for dates, and how Stephen feels when he's around Andrew.

It was honestly very cute watching him get all shy and nervous talking about his boyfriend, but eventually they had to go home, because they had homework due tomorrow.

Once they left, I hopped in the shower and scrubbed myself with my new apple scented body wash. Afterwards, I washed my face and walked into my room to watch some Netflix since I had nothing else to do.

I was re-watching some lame show that I watched a couple years ago. It was one of those shows that was cringe and predictable, but you can't seem to stop watching it.

Anyways, I watched that for a couple hours before I went to sleep.

Right before I fell asleep, I got a text from Scottie.

Scottie: Goodnight sweetheart. I love you.

Me: Goodnight.

I didn't bother saying I love you back, because to me it felt too soon to say it, even if I think I do love him.

---

The next day at school was very exciting. I pulled into my parking spot and hopped out of my car, only to be greeted by Scottie with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello, girlfriend," he grinned.

"Hello, boyfriend," I replied back with the same smile on my face.

"What's your first class of the day?" he asked me as we walked into the school towards my locker. "English," I said as I opened my locker and took out the textbooks I needed for the day. "Mind if I walked you there?"

"Of course not," I chuckled. Scottie walked me to my English class and said goodbye before heading to his class.

He was the sweetest boyfriend ever.

All my classes flew by and my stomach was grumbling for food when I reached the cafeteria. I think we were having chicken nuggets today, which is one of the best school lunches ever. My friends were sitting at our usual table, accompanied by Scottie, Andrew, and Parker.

When Parker made eye contact with me, he gave me a small smile before looking back down at his food. Damn, someone was hungry. He was staring at his food like his life depended on it.

"Hey guys," I greeted them.

They all greeted me back, but Scottie was the only one to get up and give me a hug and kiss on the cheek.

"Woah, woah, woah!" Andrew exclaimed. "Since when was this a thing?" he asked.

"Since last night," Scottie replied.

"Well damn Scottie, you finally got the girl. How'd you do it? Did you threaten to kidnap her and hold her for ransom? Or did you offer to pay her a couple hundred thousand dollars if she dated you?"

I wanted to slap him across the face for joking like that, but Parker beat me to it. Since he was sitting next to him, he got there sooner.

"OW! Dude! What was there for?" Andrew whined. "That was for you being an idiot. Don't ask someone questions like that. Not everyone is as idiotic as you."

"Fine," He huffed, turning away from everyone and shoving 3 chicken nuggets in his mouth at the same time. I chuckled at Andrew. That kid could be really stupid sometimes, but I still loved him.

"Sorry about that," Parker said to me. It didn't really bother me that much. If anything, I thought it was really funny.

The rest of the lunch went a lot smoother, with everyone laughing and joking around. But, there was something off about Parker. He was a little more quiet than normal.

I wonder why.
