For all readers from DTBT, I have changed Sanaa's sister's name. It's Sofia now.
***
Flashback:
Four and half years after Kabir left IIMR:
(Time when Sofia's marriage to Rehan was planned)
Kabir was driving the car. When he first received this news and he can't believe it. Well, it wasn't actually unbelievable as he was aware about 'that man's' cunning ways. What he couldn't believe was the fact that, this time 'that man' was doing it with his favourite daughter.
How low he can stoop to force his daughter to marry someone for a business deal? That too to a cruel and heartless CEO who is business minded just like 'that man'. This CEO or great business tycoon was a workaholic who didn't have any social life and wasn't the type of man Sofia would want to associate herself with.
But what surprised him more was the fact that Sofia actually agreed. She was strong enough to turn down his proposal. But she was money minded.
Like father like daughter!
He thought and smiled.
Well, all his children are not like him. He thought and a face immediately appeared before his eyes and his smile immediately died.
His grip automatically tightened and his nails turned white. He changed the gear and increased the speed, using high speed as a tool to forget the memories which were hitting him, with a full force but he was unsuccessful as always.
His sweetie pie.
Her small beautiful face, her light brown eyes which looked even more beautiful in sunlight and her smile is unforgettable. The way she used to call him every time, in every situation for any help, any advice.
The way she used to call him, Bir.
Damn.
Focus Kabir, Focus.
Don't think about her, it will only hurt you. Think about the issue in your hand. He thought.
He has to find a way to bring Sofia out of this mess. She is reckless but he has to make her realize the power of true love. He immediately called Samar, the man she loves, who also became a good friend of him, from the time he got to know that he loves Sofia.
Actually, he met Samar under a false identity. His first intention when he met Samar was to know him and check whether he was trustworthy enough to date Sofia, but as the time passed he really became a good friend of Samar.
So now, when one of his spies working in 'that man's' home called him to inform about this arrangement, he decided to take the matters in his hands. He knew Sofia and Samar really love each other and Sofia just needed a push. So, he called Samar and told him his plan.
Samar being the ever right man he was rejected the plan to fake his accident and make Sofia worried about him. He knew he has to meet Samar and convince him and that's what he was planning to do.
His gaze shifted to a small charm, hanging in the car and again a sweet memory came. His sweetie pie has gifted him the charm, saying that it will protect him from all the evils. He smiled at her innocent thoughts and actions. Only, if she knew that he doesn't need protection from the evils outside.
He himself was the Devil!
And that is why she didn't want to associate herself with him. That's the reason he is behaving like a coward and is keeping tabs on her from last three years but still not meeting her.
No, don't go over there. He scolded himself and again increased the speed. He was now really crossing the speed limit but he didn't care.
He would do anything to distract himself from going back to those bad memories; which turned his life into a living nightmare and made him a lifeless person.
He tried to think about something else, someone else and one voice did strike him and he felt a sort of relief. Sunshine's voice.
A smile stretched on his face but it was short lived as he saw a truck heading towards him.
He tried to apply break, do anything to avoid an accident and he was successful to move out of the way of the truck; only to strike a tree nearby.
The last thing that appeared before his eyes was his mother's blurred image, Sunshine's voice and the last word that came out of his mouth was, "Sweetie pie."

Zara was now working as a fellow in neurosurgery in a big private hospital. Her fellowship was about to be completed. Life has changed so much for her in last one year.
She lost the most important person in life. Her father left her after battling with cancer for three years. She remembered being broken after listening to the news even though she saw it coming.
Her mother's death was just news to her but her father's death shattered her whole world. He was the one person who has sheltered her throughout her life, had taught her to be kind and hopeful no matter what happens. He taught her to never lose her faith in Almighty and now even though he was not here, she was staying strong because of her faith.
Many people expected her to have a nervous breakdown after he was gone, her childhood anxiety to return back and it did for few days but then she understood the fact that he was in a better place now.
She has seen his sufferings and she wanted him to be happy. She daily prays for him in her prayers and it still makes her cry.
That's why she decided to get away from that place and accept the job offer in Mumbai. She still felt a pang in her heart, she is still emotional.
She knows she is vulnerable and naïve but she was raised that way. Her mommy issues have resulted in her dad being overprotective about her and that's why she didn't know much about real world.
The five and half years in IIMR have helped her understand human nature but even there she kept a low profile and never expressed herself fully because of one person.
Dr. Kabir Shah.
She smiled at her naïve crush on him. He must be a high profile paediatrician somewhere, most probably with a beautiful girl by his side and definitely with his sweetie pie and other friends. She could imagine him playing guitar in an orphanage and children playing around him while his ocean blue eyes grabbing the attention of everyone.
At one point she used to blame herself for developing such a huge crush on him that it made her live in another world. But now she accepted it as a part of human nature. He was the first man she liked. Also, the last one as her father's illness didn't give her time to think about anyone nor that anyone could come in comparison to him.
But she knew she has to forget about him and move on. After all it's been more than four years since she last saw him and it was just a stupid crush.
Little did she know that fate has something else planned for her!
Their time has finally come.

Zara was fellow neurosurgeon on call. She was studying something when she felt her pager and was alerted about a head trauma. She messaged her attending Dr. Sinha who will arrive soon.
A young male in his late twenties, victim of a car crash, having possible brain haemorrhage was being brought here. As there hospital was level one trauma centre, most of the emergency cases were brought here.
She closed her book and made her way to ER, preparing herself to handle the patient. They have to act quick and fast. But nothing in the world could prepare her what she saw.
Dr. Kabir Shah.
The man was Kabir Shah and she just stood there frozen, not knowing how to react to it. Not even in her worst nightmare had she imagined to see him like that; with blood coming out of his roughly bandaged head, face covered with blood mixed with dirt. Eyes which were closed, heart which was struggling to beat and multiple fractures.
This is what death must feel like.
God why her? Why does she to go through this pain again and again? To see the people she cares about in such situations? She doesn't even have the time to react properly as she heard her name being called.
"Dr. Zara we need you to come here and check him fast. We need to get him to an OT." She heard the voice of some doctor and rushed inside, checking his eyes for reflex and praying so hard that they would be normal.
She was relieved when Dr. Sinha arrived and checked up on him. She had performed solo surgeries earlier but she knew she can't operate on him right now. She was not in right state.
So as he was taken into the OT she ran inside her room in the hospital and cried her heart out. It was paining to see him like this...too much.
Why? Why do bad things happen to good people? She knew only one thing could calm her mind, prayer and so she bowed her head in prostration, praying for his life.
Please! Not him, not so soon and not in front of me. She prayed and her prayers were answered as she got the news that he was stable but in coma.
That was expected after big surgery. His body needed time to heal and she has complete faith that he will be back to normal again and hence she requested seniors to be his in charge while he is in coma.
She was checking up on his vitals when nurse came inside asking from her whom should they call. She told them to contact someone called sweetie pie from his phone but was surprised to find that no such contact existed, nor was there any mention of his other friends.
She then contacted IIMR Delhi and asked about his details and was shocked to know that he left the campus soon after her graduation and has not completed his residency from there even though he was offered one, none of them did.
She didn't know anything other than that. She informed the hospital management about this and they told her that they will take care of this.
So while she took care of him, they contacted his previous school and got to know that he has a guardian in his school, named, Deepak Mehta, who was still the manager of Mr. Malik.
And that is how Mr. Malik got to know about Kabir after more than four years.

Never thought that these pieces which I have written years ago in DTBT, would fit here so well.
Zara owns a special place in my heart. You will see! I will introduce you to her properly soon (:
Now one question people, shall I publish one or two chapters regarding Sanaa finding Kabir and her reaction or should I just jump to the big fight they had one week after he wakes up?
Zara will be constant from now ownwards except for one chapter in between in which Sanaa and Kabir will fight. And this time the fight will be from Kabir's pov.
