Three

The atmosphere was pretty cold as Jeonghan waited outside the shop for Mrs Choi. They had already arranged to meet and Jeonghan was finished with his shift. He didn't know what he was doing really. He felt like he must be going crazy. What did he think he was going to achieve with a widower and five sons. He sighed. He wasn't sure but he knew there was something more to his life than serving food at a restaurant and waiting for that ass hole to return.

Finally, the old woman arrived, climbing out of a cab. She wore a huge coat hurrying towards him. As soon as she reached, she took a deep breath.

"I'm so sorry. I was busy with those kids"

Jeonghan smiled "Don't worry, I haven't been waiting long"

The woman nodded and took his hand dragging him towards a long bench close to the big restaurant window. They both sat down and proceeded to begin talking.

"So are you really sure about this?"

Jeonghan breathed deeply. "Truthfully, I'm scared. I don't really know what I'm doing but I really feel like I should do this"

"I know...it's quite difficult"

There was silence for a while until Mrs Choi broke it. "Jeonghan, are you in any relationship?"

The short haired blonde froze instantly. He grew tense and Mrs Choi realized she must have asked the wrong question.
"I'm sorry...."

Jeonghan gulped "No it's okay" he paused. "Actually, I was in a serious relationship until three years ago"

He gave a painful laugh. "We were going to get married but he just got up one day and left without a single word"

"Just like that?"

Jeonghan nodded. He was trying so hard to hold back his tears. He sniffed, his face turning red.

"I haven't had anything serious with anyone since then. I found it so difficult to open my heart to anyone else" His voice was cracking. "But I'm tired of waiting. I want to move on and I want to try doing so with your family"

Mrs Choi listened raptly until she spoke again "Why?"

Jeonghan looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, I guess when I met Seungcheol for the first time, he had this kind of pain in his eyes, a pain I could relate to and I felt sorry that he had to take care of five kids all on his own...also he feels kind of familiar" he gave a small laugh. "I guess that's why"

Mrs Choi bit her lips "What about your parents?"

Jeonghan ran a hand over his hair "I have none. They both passed away when I was thirteen. I lived with my aunt till I was twenty then I started working and living on my own"

"I'm sorry to hear that but did you still go to the university"

Jeonghan nodded "Yeah, I went to Seol university where I studied fashion and design. I always wanted to be a fashion designer but that ship has long sailed"

Mrs Choi smiled. "But you can still become what you want"

Jeonghan frowned "I don't want to have high hopes for a dream that will never come to pass"

Mrs Choi was quiet for some time before she broke it.

"Would you like to marry my son?" Mrs Choi said, her eyes widening.

Jeonghan laughed nervously "I don't think marriage is in my cards right now but I do want to help him and his kids"

Mrs Choi took his hand squeezing it in between her own. "My son is a really good man. I wish that you will see that and decide that you want to be with him" she sighed sorrowfully "All I want is for my little boy to be happy again. It has been so long since I saw him laugh"

She squeezed Jeonghan's hand tighter. "Can you do that? Will you be able to make him happy again?"

Jeonghan shook his head "I don't know mother but I will try"

She bowed her head. "Kamsamnida!"

"Don't do that mother" Jeonghan cried lifting the woman's head up.

Mrs Choi smiled. "I want to invite you to the house for dinner this weekend...Tell me what your schedule is like so that we can know how you can start working at the house"

"I'll text it to you this evening"

Mrs Choi embraced the blond. "Thank you so much, you have no idea how happy I am. For some reason, I'm feeling really hopeful"

They both stood up. "Let me hurry back. The children will be resuming for school very soon. I want to buy them some few things"

"of course" Jeonghan said.

"I'll call you" The woman said. Jeonghan watched her hail a cab and drive away. When Jeonghan returned home, he thought of how he could work for Seungcheol and at the same time work at Jerry's spot.

He worked at Jerry's from morning till evening but if he was going to be a housekeeper, he was going to have to take the night shift, that would be from seven to twelve. He could also stay the weekends. He could do it but he doubted if he would have enough sleep. Anyway, he was still excited about it and texted Mrs Choi on the new arrangement.

Mrs Choi received the message wearing a broad smile on her face. She was with Seungcheol in the living room watching a movie while the kids were making a hell of a noise upstairs.

"What's making you smile like that mom? " Seungcheol asked but his mother quickly pretended.

"No...nothing" She twisted her fingers "em son, can I have a guest over on Sunday"

"What guest?" Seungcheol asked non chalantly.

"A very special guest"

Seungcheol gave her a suspicious look "is it a man?"

Mrs Choi grinned. "Yes, but he's a special man and I bet you're going to love him"

Seungcheol groaned "Don't tell me you are matchmaking again"

"No no no, he's just going to be your housekeeper" She immediately defended herself.

Seungcheol groaned "Eomma, I have told you so many times that I don't need a housekeeper"

"Shut up, you do!" His mother yelled glaring at him. "When last have you ever had a day to yourself? You're a mess! One day you're going to break down and whose fault will that be? I'm too old to look after five kids. In just a week, I have aged more than my actual age"

"Eomma"

"Stop, you are not passing this one over. I will make sure of that" the woman said determinedly.

Seungcheol raised his arms dramatically "Okay, fine do whatever you like" He shrugged and left to go upstairs. She heard him shout at the kids to put away their toys and go to bed. Mrs Choi rolled her eyes. He was taking his anger out on the kids. How mature. She didn't care. She was not going to let her only son die a depressed old man. Not if she could help it.

It was Sunday. Yoon jeonghan dressed in one of his best clothes, an oversized blue shirt and black tight jeans and vans. He normally had bad sight and often wore contacts but this time, he decided to put on his round medicated glasses because it always made him look cute. It was evening when he came out of his crappy apartment with his keys and wallet.

He entered a bus going straight to the address Mrs Choi had texted him. He didn't know what he was doing. Was he in his right mind? What if he ended up falling for Seungcheol? Was he really confident of taking care of five kids. This was crazy. He was about to change his mind when the bus came to a stop at the street.

He came down. There was no going back now. Seungcheol's house was located at a suburban area filled with decent houses that almost looked alike. The sun was fully gone now when he stood in front of the pink and White colored House. He took a deep breath before pressing the door bell. It was a few seconds but the door opened and it was Seungcheol standing at the door way looking more handsome than the last time he saw him. He wore a white crisp shirt with Jean shorts. His eyes formed in recognition as they stared at each other.

"it's you...." he muttered.

Jeonghan realized right there that the real reason he had agreed with Mrs Chois weird request was to see this handsome man with the incredibly long eyelashes again. This man that made his heart tug weirdly...that made him feel like he knew him from somwehere. His heart hammered in his chest as Seungcheol looked him all over.

"What are you doing here?"

"I invited him" Mrs Chois voice rang out from inside the house. She appeared beside Seungcheol wearing a big smile on her face.

"He's Yoon jeonghan, the new housekeeper"

The look of surprise on Seungcheol's face was indescribable and for a second there, Jeonghan thought he had probably made the biggest mistake of his life.
