Servants

Part 1: War

Chapter 2: Servants

Naruto Uzumaki was looking for his best friend and enemy at the same time, Sasuke Uchiha. He lost him some time before. He was running through one of the many forests that surrounded Konohagakure when he lost track of him.

His instincts were telling him that he would be okay. On the other hand, ever since that incident when they still lived he didn't trust him. He betrayed them and that was that.

He looked up to the sky to see the sun slowly setting. Another skill he picked up during his life... during the war. He both lost and gained many things but this definitely fell into the category of gaining.

He smiled. Yes, this was a definitely thing he gained. There were more things but this one belonged to category of his favorites along with the few years of happiness he got.

Don't get him wrong, he lost too many things to be happy that the war happened. He lost his master, his parents, his first teacher, but he gained so much more. Like trust. Or a rival who wasn't emotionally deficient.

He heard leaves rustling and he smiled, the fact that he was at war momentarily forgotten. He didn't even notice the shadowy figure that was leaping from one branch to another, like a monkey.

TenTen on the other hand was smiling, knowing that she had one of her opponents figured out. She read enough scrolls to know that this was either the Yellow Flash of the Fire Empire or his son, the Orange Hokage of the Fire Empire. The fact that he didn't even try to hide his blonde hair and the Uzumaki family crest on his back meant that he obviously didn't realize how much of a known figure he was. That only gave TenTen an advantage. An advantage she didn't want to lose.

She jumped to another branch, to get a better look at him. Her scroll in which she carried all her weapons brushed on some leaves and TenTen stiffened, ready to make her escape, but thankfully her opponent was too lost in his thoughts to notice her.

In spite of her being safe, she decided that it would undoubtedly be a better plan if she retreated and tried to look for other opponents and read up on the Yellow Flash and Orange Hokage later, after she returns to the Hyuuga compound. She didn't need another fight.

—Flashback—

She was going through the city, checking out how the place was laid out and where it would be best to fight when she sensed another magic user. She wouldn't put it past her that it was a servant.

She crept to the edge of the skyscraper she was at and slowly peeked over the edge, seeing a small balcony. There was a woman, maybe in her late twenties, standing on the balcony and leaning against the edge of it. Even though she didn't even look like she could know something about magic, for some reason TenTen knew that she would encounter her sooner rather than later.

Deciding that the best plan of action would be to try and attack her to test her strength, she leapt down and landed on the balcony, in front of the mysterious woman.

The woman smiled "So I am meeting my first opponent already, huh? I never phantom it would be so early in the war. So, are you here to strike an alliance, or are you here to fight?" she asked, giving TenTen a smirk at the end.

"Both and neither." TenTen said, truthfully "I just want to take on a opponent. A possible ally if you might. But we could always fight to death." she countered with a smirk of her own.

"Well then let us take it somewhere outside of the city. I don't exactly want to destroy it, even if I am not too fond of it, my master won't be exactly happy." the woman said before jumping down and running into a nearby forest that just conveniently laid by the building. TenTen suspected the woman and her master either had this planned out or at least they chose the apartment to suit their needs.

As she was chasing behind the woman, TenTen was running through her mental checklist of what type of servant she could be. She was not Lancer, obviously. She guessed that Archers were a bit more muscular because a bow wasn't anything easy to be used and there was no way in hell she could be Berserker.

If she was Saber she would probably have a sword out by now. Even though it wasn't entirely of the list. That left her with either Assassin or Caster. From what her master told her of basic appearances of servants based on their classes, TenTen was leaning more to the latter but she didn't want to make a mistake. Mistakes cost too much to make any now.

"I see you are on a good way to figure out which class servant I am." the woman called at TenTen, scaring her "Sorry I scared you." the woman smiled.

TenTen was creeped out by that. How did she know what she was thinking? More importantly, which class was she? Was she Caster? All things pointed that way. If yes, then it would be easy to defeat her. Casters are one of the weaker classes and with herself being Lancer, one of the top three, she would win and return with good news.

"Ah, so you figured it out. Took you long enough." the woman once again called as they got into the forest. She stopped and turned around, looking at TenTen.

"Since I haven't officially introduced myself, I will do it now." the woman changed into her normal outfit, a gray jacket and pants with black cloak "I am Caster in this Chakra Fruit War. Nice to meet you, you must be Lancer, right?"

"R-Right." TenTen nodded, she was frozen to the ground. At least it was still just Caster so in theory she should be beaten easily.

"And just because I am Caster and you are Lancer, don't think I can be beaten that easily." Caster said "Many people left this world because they underestimated me. Don't be one of them too."

TenTen quickly pulled herself together and summoned her normal lance "So shall we begin? As a fight between two women who don't like to sit around and do nothing?" she asked.

"You are on." Caster gave her a grin before summoning her own weapon, a staff of some sorts. It had a crystal on one end and it was sharpened on the other.

TenTen launched at Caster, bringing down her lance at Casters head only for it to be blocked by the staff. TenTen jumped away and blocked when a barrage of balls of whatever it was bombarded her.

The ground all around her was being destroyed by said balls. It looked like the balls were highly corrosive as they burned away the ground. Right now, TenTen was happy to have pulled out one of her special lances that was supposed to counter Caster: a lance made of metal that she could spin at high speed, creating an ultimate defense against things such as different types of explosives.

When the barrage of the corrosive balls ended, TenTen quickly ran to Caster and pointed her normal lance against Casters neck. Only to feel cold metal against her own neck.

"So, I guess we have each other at point of our weapons now, huh?" Caster asked with a smirk.

TenTen let out a quiet tch - a courtesy of her master - and smirked "You are fighting against Lancer, you don't seem to realize that." she pulled out another lance. This one double sided with long tips and swung it to Casters neck, only for it to be stopped few centimeters away from its designated point.

"You don't seem to realize that you are fighting against a Caster whose Noble Phantasms revolve around manipulating mind." Caster retorted with a smirk of her own.

TenTen jumped away, creating a distance between herself and Caster. Her mind suddenly felt hazy and disoriented.

Caster was pleased. Very pleased to say at least. That Kami-damned Lancer was falling into her trap perfectly. And she didn't even notice anything. How much dumber people could get? Caster was very well aware that her tactics exceeded most of tactics made by actual tacticians, but when her brother by everything but blood was hailed as the genius tactician you pick up few things along the way.

Ino looked at Lancer that has her reactions slow, like in a daze or something. That was a thing she was really proud of. A poison mixed by herself. A truly great thing if she may say so herself.

Tired of this mockery of a battle, Ino ran toward Lancer, kicking her in her chest to topple her over - thank Kami Lancer was flat or it would feel weird - and pointed the tip of her staff at Lancer, quietly draining the poison from her system.

TenTen blinked few times. The last thing she remembered was attacking Caster and now she was laying on the ground with the tip off Lancers lance pointed at her.

"You got caught in my trap." Caster explained "As a woman who went through many trials I will let you live for now but run and don't return for a long time."

—Flashback: End—

TenTen shuddered at that memory and absent-mindedly rubbed her neck. She suspected she was drugged for the better part of their fight and she didn't remember what happened in the slightest.

Deciding that she spied enough, she got up and started running through the forest in a quick but quiet run. Her only downfall was not seeing the little frog she accidentally stepped on.

Naruto felt a jolt of pain and he was teleported a few hundred meters away, right in front of a brown-haired girl with her hair tied in two buns.

"So, you are the one that stepped on one of my toads?" he asked in a dark voice that surprised even himself. The girl was obviously servant as she had scroll tied on her back and an outfit that could have been used in a battle.

"Probably." she replied, slightly annoyed "And you are?"

"Archer." Naruto replied, "I suppose you are a servant too, huh?" he asked, looking at her scroll "From your attire I am guessing a Caster?"

"I am servant, that is true, but your guess is wrong when it comes to the class. My name is Lancer, true name is unneeded." Lancer said.

"If you are a servant you know the rules, right?" Naruto asked, a grin making itself visible "But before we fight, let us make a bet: if I win, you will tell me your true name. And if I lose... You will find out if that happens."

Lancer nodded and got into her battle stance, ready to attack. Naruto pulled out a blue orb from behind his back and started gathering wind around it, before throwing it at Lancer.

TenTen narrowly jumped away before launching forward, aiming at Archers heart, only to be stopped by another blue orb with wind swirling around it.

Realizing that this wasn't leading her anywhere, TenTen got her extending lance and let it expand, making it double to its original length. Archer laughed at that and let it impale him, only to disappear in a poof of smoke before assaulting TenTen with another barrage of blue orbs from upwards this time.

"Heh, heh. That was actually a pretty good attack you have right there." Archer said with a smile "The only problem is that I used to train with Teme who controls snakes." he smiled.

TenTens mind was running on full power, trying to figure out if this was the Yellow Flash or Orange Hokage. Deciding that he was probably Orange Hokage, known for his duplicating skills and Rasengan, a blue orb that could gather wind around it and could be thrown in that form, she got ready for dodging any attack coming her way.

"It is fun and all, but I really am hungry and Hina promised me some ramen, so I need to return back to the compound before she kills me." Archer said with a sheepish smile before assaulting TenTen with another barrage of blue orbs.

"You know, it would be better if you didn't resist. It would be a win win situation." he added when he saw how TenTen was narrowly dodging his attacks. When he got no reaction from her, he assaulted her with another barrage of Rasengans as Tenten identified them.

She hissed in pain as one Rasengan hit her shin and knocked her over. She looked up to Archer, blood dripping from her mouth.

"I forfeit, my name is TenTen, but please, don't kill me." she pleaded.

"Heh, I don't want to kill you anyway." Archer said as he turned away "I will tell you this: I won't kill you and if you get medical attention soon enough, you may just survive."
