Ch. 44 I need your help

" Ughh! Why do we have to walk around this forsaken village and count how many people live here?" Beni dramatically asked while walking out of the palace with Demir.

Demir looked at his surroundings, finding his current home beautiful since the village is near the oceanside. He frowned, missing his beloved daughter, eight-year-old Oyku Sezin since he knows his daughter would have loved the beach.

"You decided to chant the prayer of slaves to him," Demir bluntly responded.

Beni turns his gaze to Denir, looking at the shorter male as though he slapped him on the face.

" You also chanted that prayer too!" Beni exclaimed.

" That's because it was either serve an immortal being or get killed by said immortal being. I did what was right because I had someone I needed to go back to, and death isn't the route for me," Demir firmly speaks.

Beni stopped walking, and he stared at Demir with a raised eyebrow.

" Who did you leave behind?" Beni asked, looking and sounding curious.

Demir stops walking, and he turns his gaze to the nearby beach, watching the waves crash against the sand.

" I didn't leave her behind. I came to this trip as a source of income. I did not expect for this trip to intermix with the supernatural," Demir murmured.

" Aww! Someone misses their lover," Beni teases.

Demir annoyingly rolled his dark brown eyes.

" Not a lover, you idiot!" Demir snapped, and he turned his gaze to Beni. " I left my daughter behind! I promised her that I would return to her once this trip ended. But, now I don't know if I will ever see her again," His dark brown eyes intently stared at the taller male's blue eyes.

Beni silently stared at Demir. He noticed tears welling up in the shorter male's dark brown eyes.

Beni could tell that Demir wanted to cry, but the shorter male held it in by showing him anger instead.

" I...I did not know," Beni whispered.

Demir looked away, blinking his dark brown eyes quickly so that the tears could go away.

" It's cool," Demir murmured.

" Look!" Beni grabs Demir's shoulders, turning the shorter male to stare at him. " I do not know how! But, I will help you to reunite with you and your daughter," He firmly speaks.

Demir's dark brown eyes intently stared at Beni's blue eyes.

" How? We are forever to serve an immortal being," Demir reminded.

Beni turns his head back to stare at the palace. He hummed, remembering how overprotective Imhotep was towards Felicia and how the divine figure obeyed the female O'Connell's command.

" I know!" Beni widely smiled, and he turned his gaze back to Demir. " We need to befriend Felicia O'Connell," He firmly speaks. " Maybe having an O'Connell around is not such a bad thing after all," He murmured.

Demir hummed in response. He recalled Felicia stopping Imhotep from killing everyone by taking hold of his arm and telling him to stop, to which he complied.

" She probably hates us since we did take her from her loved ones," Demir whispered.

" He took her. We didn't," Beni reminded.

" You are right in a sense. We have to convince Felicia that we are in the same boat as her," Demir murmured.

" Yup!" Beni nods his head in response.

" Now, let's go to work. Who knows if our Lord can hear and see us?" Demir turns around. The two males began to walk all over the village, making sure to count how many villagers lived in their new Kingdom.

Hours later, Demir and Beni finished counting all the villagers in their new Kingdom. Throughout their walk, they made sure to ask for some materials like a clipboard, paper, and pen so that they could put the totals of men, women, and children living in each home.

" Finally!" Beni dramatically cheered. He slumped against the wall, looking and feeling tired.

Demir hummed, silently reading all the names of the villagers. Even though so many people live in their new Kingdom, he wanted to make sure to know some of them.

" Tell me. How many people live in the village?" A stern masculine voice speaks, grabbing Demir and Beni's attention.

" Eeep!" Beni immediately stood straight when he saw Imhotep step out of a gust of sandy wind.

Demir's dark brown eyes intently stared at Imhotep's light brown eyes.

" 1,500 people live in this Kingdom," Demir informs Imhotep.

" I see," Imhotep looked at his surroundings. " When I grew up here, only 500 people lived in this village," He softly speaks.

Demir and Beni looked at one another from the corner of their eyes.

" Is he trying to befriend us?" Beni mouth out.

Demir shrugged since he didn't know himself.

" I need your help," Imhotep turns his gaze to Demir and Beni, which causes them to stare at him with a mixed look.

" Yes?" Demir responded with a raised eyebrow.

" I know times are different from before to now," Imhotep firmly speaks. " I am also now quite aware that my Bahiti is a different person. And I was wondering if you two can help communicate with Feli properly," His light brown eyes intently stared at the two males, looking at them with a hopeful gaze.

Demir's dark brown eyes widened, and he immediately turned his gaze to Beni, who also looked at him with a surprised stare.

The two men didn't say anything, but they have decided then and there that the best way to survive was to bring Imhotep and Felicia closer together.

Demir composed himself, and he looked away to stare at Imhotep.

" Yes. My companion and I will help you get much closer to Felicia," Demir reassured while Beni nodded his head in agreement.

" Excellent!" Imhotep widely smiled, looking and feeling relieved since he wanted Felicia to get to know him and realize that he isn't a horrible person.
