Now the question is, how did I get hold of this superpower?
In this world, there have to be millions of children, make that billions of children every day dreaming of having superpowers. Do their dreams come true? Obviously no, since superpowers aren't really real. It's all just a fantasy, something made up to give us boring human beings something to dream about. Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Captain America, they're all fake. Like I said, superpowers don't exist.
Then why do I have one?
Maybe I actually don't. Maybe Mr. Gomez changing his mind had nothing to do with me.
Spinning the spaghetti around my fork, I watch Jason making his way to Katy, his girlfriend. The jerk, the jerk, the jerk. The jerk should break up with Katy, she deserves better. Then the jerk should go and kiss shy, Amy Finkle and tell her she's beautiful. The jerk, the jerk should just make a big, massive fool out of his stupid self.
And that's exactly what happens.
"Katy I'm breaking up with you," he says, a big goofy smile on his face.
Her response is a slap across his cheek.
Rubbing the red welt on his cheek, he then walks up to shy Amy and kisses her full force, causing me to gag. Her response is the same as Katy, though I believe she slaps him a lot harder.
"You freak," she yells, before bolting from the cafeteria.
"Hey come back," Jason cries, "You're beautiful."
The whole cafeteria is silent and then there are a few snickers. Mortified, Jason makes a quick escape through the back door leading outside.
"What was that about?" Kim slides into the seat beside me.
I shrug. "No clue."
But deep, deep down I know that this superpower is for reals.
