Fate saunters through the trees, eyes darkening immediately at the sight of Sinful.
He had explained to me why he is here, partially, before we hopped down from the tree. As much as I don't trust Sinful with my life, I didn't run from him. It would have been pointless anyway. Unless I am able to summon that magic Fate, he would find me in less than a second, and who knows what would happen after that.
"He needs our help," I say quickly, before Fate could disappear right on front of us. Fate hates Sinful, and Sinful enjoys messing with Fate.
"No he doesn't," Fate mutters.
Sinful chuckles slightly, as Fate stands in front of us, closest to me. I'm tense, waiting for him to grab me and take me away back to his secret home. Instead, he stares down Sinful, not moving and inch, as if out of spite.
"Something put you in a sour mood, darling Fate?" Sinful asks, leaning back against the tree I had scaled earlier.
"Get lost."
"As much as I can't help but not want anything to do with Sinful, this has something to do with Ira," I tell him. He has explained why he is here to me to a point, which is part of the reason why I stayed still. I knew the moment he mentioned the name Ira, Fate would want to hear his point, as much as he hates him. "Isn't she your major problem right now?"
Fate shakes his head slightly, clearly seething beneath that impassive expression. "Could you not have written a letter?"
"I thought you were more interesting than that," Sinful remarks.
A muscle in Fate's jaw ticks. Any moment now, I'm waiting for an explosion of power to form between them. I wonder briefly if they have always been like this. Sinful mentioned his past with Fate, but it was brief and told me almost nothing about them two. I need to remember to bring it up to Fate to demand he tells me everything.
"You tire me," Fate mutters.
I roll my eyes, making sure that both of them can see. "Can you stop? Seriously? Arguing isn't going to solve anything."
"Oh, wise Miss Zayla," Sinful teases, causing me to shoot him a glare.
Fate stares stubbornly at Sinful for a while, not saying a single word. I wish I had Sinful's ability to look into people's minds. If so, I would infiltrate Fate's without a second thought. Just to see what his thought process is."
"Alright then," he says finally, much to my relief. I don't think I can handle much more of this complete silence. "What the hell do you want?"
"I want you to speak with me in a nicer tone."
Fate narrows his eyes, before he steps forward threateningly. Instantly, I catch onto his intentions, knowing that a physical altercation might go on between them if someone doesn't stop them. So I step between them, facing Fate.
"Fate...Don't," I tell him carefully, firmly. He tears his gaze from Sinful, staring down at me, chest heaving.
"No, I want to see what his plans are," Sinful says, interrupting me before I could talk some sense into Fate. If they fight right now, who knows who would come off worse. Fate has so much anger in him toward Sinful, it wouldn't surprise me if he did something violent. "I want to know if mine align with his."
"What are you going to do as Lust, Sinful? Turn us on?" Fate questions.
I almost gag in front of them both. "No way."
"Don't flatter yourself, Fate. Perhaps Zayla, though, wouldn't mind," he says slyly, gaze shifting to me.
I wish I could fade into the undergrowth behind me to never be seen by either of them ever again. All of a sudden, I want to summon this magic fate thinks I have to magically disappear for them to never find me ever again. That would be a dream come true.
Suddenly, the gaze Sinful has pinned me with is completely falters, and he cringes deeply. He glares at Fate, slightly shaking, as if his legs were about to give out from under me.
"What the hell is going?" I question.
Fate glares back at Sinful, but he doesn't seem to be at all fazed. Sinful's reaction is one I would never have guessed to see from him.
"Get out of my head," Sinful growls. Just then, I realised what might be happening.
"Something wrong, Sinful?" Fate asks coyly.
"What's going on?"
Sinful suddenly gasps, before he stumbles back a few steps, as if he had been kicked in the stomach and winded. Fate smiles slightly, clearly enjoying seeing Sinful in pain. I look between them both, trying to understand what just happened. Clearly, he got into Sinful's head and did something to cause him immense pain.
I feel myself swallow uncomfortably. If Fate can do that, what's to say he won't do that to me.
"Fate is just asserting his dominance," Sinful says through a rushed breath. He struggles to stand up straight again for a moment, which I try not to enjoy for too long to have him notice I'm watching. "As usual."
"Can you get to the point Sinful? Why are here?" I demand, wanting to bring the subject back to what is going on. Or at least, what is supposed to be going on.
Sinful coughs once, before he straightens the lapels of his jacket, seeming to gain traction again. "I'm here because I'm suddenly interested in dealing with my precious little sister."
"Why the change of heart?" Fate questions, unfazed by what he inflicted on the other immortal. "Millicent?"
"Don't even say her name. You don't deserve to."
Fate rolls his eyes. "Please."
I want to smile, but I force myself to smother it with a blank expression. Something about this is entertaining. If only Millicent was here to see this. I wonder how she would react to her mate talking about her so possessively. It's confusing, considering they aren't technically together.
"Ira destroyed my house," Sinful finally admits.
Fate raises an eyebrow. "How so?"
"She burnt it to the ground,' he explains. My eyes widen. He hadn't told me that before. It makes sense, as I flash back to remembering the look in her eyes when she made me hold that shard of glass to my throat.
Arson doesn't surprise me at all.
"You know for sure it was her?"
"Ah yes, she left a wonderful little note for me," he says, clapping his hands together. This time, I can't help but smile at his tone alone. "Such great sister I have."
"How did you let that happen?" I decide to ask. Sinful drags his gaze back to me.
"I was out, dealing with critical issues, unlike Fate here. He clearly sees more importance in teaching some female immortal a little bit of magic," he mentions, right to me, as if he wasn't talking about me in such a demeaning way.
I growl slightly, before I decide my next move. Before I could stop myself, I lash out, and smack him straight in the stomach.
"Did you just hit me in the stomach?" he asks, not flinching an inch from the hit.
"Did you just call me some female immortal?" I snap, trying my best not to rub my fist, which admittedly aches after hitting the muscle under his shirt.
From behind me, I hear Fate laugh warmly.
"You have quite the temper," Sinful notes, before he looks over my head to the other immortal here. "Maybe Fate has the right idea."
"You realise I'm not about to help you if you keep talking like this," Fate mutters.
I'm glad Fate manages to easily move the conversation away from anything involving me. He clearly doesn't appreciate the way Sinful manages to bring me into this in the way he does, which I can't help but feel so grateful for.
"Well, you want to deal with her," Sinful says with a simple shrug of his shoulders. "I'm willing to help now."
"And how are you going to do that?" Fate asks.
"I was hoping you would know."
Fate glances at me, for whatever reason. I know nearly nothing about what they are planning. "We have a few ideas. She is your sister. Perhaps you know her a little better."
Sinful almost laughs aloud at the sound of that. When they talked, I wouldn't have thought they were related. More or less, people who were once friends, who now no longer get along. If Ira hasn't held that glass to my neck, I wouldn't have been able to tell who was crazier. At this point, I've decided Sinful is irritating, but not as crazy as his sister.
"My other siblings know her better than me. I can't say her life decisions interest me very much," he says, causing Fate to roll his eyes. Again.
"Can we see them?" I ask, curious to know who the rest of his siblings are. Sinful instantly chuckles, looking instantly amused by what I've mentioned. "Why are you laughing."
Fate decides to speak for him, "not all of them are so pleasant."
"Seven sins, seven virtues. You seem to be able to handle me, so why shouldn't you be able to handle any of them?" Sinful questions, as he sobers. Wow, a change of heart so quickly? A part of me knows that he wants me to meet them for his own enjoyment.
"She isn't ready to meet them. Not the sins," Fate dismisses.
"Hey, I can handle it just fine." I say, narrowing my eyes on Fate.
Typical of him to assume I can't handle it. If I can handle Fate, Sinful and Ira, I can surely handle whatever these other sins and virtues end up being like. Once I have achieved the usage of all this magic, I'll be able to do whatever I please and get away with it. Sinful and Fate don't have any idea what is coming.
"I'm sure you can, but I don't want you in that situation when you have hardly practiced any of your magic," Fate says, shooting all my hope in the stomach.
"Come on Fate," Sinful teases. "Since when did you ever worry."
"I'll be fine," I reiterate.
Fate looks between both of us, not looking pleased by what is transpiring in front of him. I don't mean to side with Sinful. If Fate wasn't being unreasonable, there would be no way I would want to be agreeing with Sinful. But I'm curious to meet the other immortals, even after Ira threatened my life. In the end, I survived.
His teeth grind together for a while before he finally sighs. "Alright, we will meet them."
"Brilliant. Let's hope they will be willing to cooperate," Sinful says with a clap of his hands. The sound rings out loudly throughout the forest, before silence settles again. I wonder where in the immortal lands this is. It's eerily quiet and motionless, as if nothing walks here but us.
"You know what will happen if any of the push the boundaries," Fate says, his tone heavy with threat and warning.
Sinful raises his eyebrows. "With Zayla, I assume you mean."
"Naturally."
"Calm down Fate, you're too uptight," Sinful says, clearing testing the edge of Fate's nerves to see what it would take to make him lash out again, "don't worry. She will be safe. Enough."
I almost flinch. "Good to know I'm not about to die. How pleasant."
"Would two like to join me at my estate? You could take a walk around the destruction with me," Sinful suddenly offers.
Both Fate and I frown, as if the offer was completely absurd. I've never been in Sinful's territory before, and I'm not sure I want to. Who knows how much power he would have there, compared to here, which may still be Fate's territory. This could be a trap, but at the same time, I'm curious to see what else Ira is capable of.
"Why?"
"You don't want to show Zayla what my sister is capable of when she gets a little angry?" Sinful offers. When I glance at Fate, I can already see how he seethes under that calm expression. Eventually he is going to kill Sinful, and part of me hopes I'll be there to witness it.
I act on impulse as I speak next, "I want to see it."
"Alright then. Zayla is coming with me then," Sinful says with a brilliant smile. "Are you going to join us, Fate?"
Fate's eyes burn into mine. I'm waiting for him to yell at me, or grab me and take me back to his home and yell at me there. Instead, he takes his time to think things through. Perhaps he is eager to see Ira's destruction on Sinful' home. I would want the same for someone who I absolutely desired the way Fate does.
"She can come with me," he grumbles after a moment, confirming my thoughts.
"It's alright. Zayla is in safe hands," Sinful retorts.
Fate shifts his gaze to me. "Come here."
"I'm okay,' I say with narrowed eyes. I would have gone with Fate any day, but hearing him demand I go with him makes me want to refuse. Last time I travelled with Sinful, he didn't let me fall straight onto my face like Fate does. It may be a learning experience according to him, but I don't appreciate the pain in my nose for a few hours afterward.
Sinful winds his fingers into mine, and all of a sudden, the ground falls out from under me, before it appears again in a picture of black soot and debris. Before I can topple right into it, Sinful pulls me backward securely.
"Woah. She really didn't leave anything left," I murmur, looking over the destruction Ira left in her path.
There is no sign there was ever a home here that housed an immortal. A blackened frame remains close to the ground, crumbling onto the crisp grass that got burned in the inferno. We are atop a mountain, which not how been completely singed on the top. Smoke still billows up in soft grey twirls, disappearing into the air.
"I think she wanted to make a point," Fate says from behind us, coming up to stand next to me.
"Clearly. Point taken," Sinful murmurs, kicking at a half-burnt piece of wood. I watch it scatter across the ground toward the edge of the mountain.
I sigh deeply. "Hard being the least favourite sibling?"
"Only when it means my house gets burnt to the ground,' Sinful replies.
Fate moves off without us, stepping into burnt debris without worry of burning the bottom of his shoes. I'm not sure what he is looking for, since there seems to be nothing left after Ira passed through. Honestly, I'm not surprised she would impulsively do something like this. She clearly doesn't care who she harms, after she tried to kill me twice.
"Do you have elsewhere to live?" I ask.
"I have plenty of places," he says with a shrug. "This was my favourite place. I assume she knew that."
"Did you lose anything important to you?"
"A few things, but nothing I can't replace. I keep all my important items in a place no one will ever go," he explains.
He turns, looking out over the edge of the mountain. I also turn, tearing my gaze off Fate. His territory is beautiful, from what I can see of it. There are handfuls of light scattered in various places at the foot of each mountain, clearly homing villages full of immortals. The top of the mountains are capped with a pristine dusting of snow. Despite the cold that we should be feeling, I'm only content with the temperature.
"Has Ira got more power than you?" I decide to ask, waiting for him to get mad at me, or be offended by my question.
Although he doesn't get angry, instead taking a few moments to think it through before he replies to me. "In some ways. In others, no. Her downfall is her temper. As Wrath, she is yet to learn to control it."
"And you're lust. Can you control it?" I question, twisting back to look at Fate.
"Expertly," he tells me, and not in the arrogant way I expected. "I feel attraction, but nothing overwhelming. I use my abilities to my favour, never for pleasure."
I swallow before I speak again. "Does Millicent know what you do?"
"She knows. She also knows that I love her, and the moment I am able to get to her, and keep her as mine forever, that I will never glance at another female again," he explains. I'm surprised by this admission. I look at the way Sinful looks at Millicent, and I know that's exactly how it should be between mates. He loves her more than anything, and just by his gaze alone, he allows that to be evident.
"You are very honest, aren't you?" I note, wondering why he is so open with giving me an insight into his love life. He hardly knows me at all.
"I have nothing to hide. If I'm honest, perhaps people will ignore what I'm hiding."
My eyebrows crease slightly as I think about that. "Perhaps."
We stand there for a moment in silence, watching Fate. He circles the area, kicking at the soot, walking around the frame of the house. I wonder if he is listening from where he is to what Sinful and I are talking about. It wouldn't surprise me. I have no idea how powerful he is. At least not yet, but I plan to find out.
"How do you feel about Fate?" he questions suddenly.
"Why do you ask?" I question uncomfortably, refusing to look up into his eyes.
He chuckles slightly, as if that question is completely foolish. "Because I could look into your mind, but I'm being respectful by asking."
"I don't know," I admit, knowing he will look into my mind if he wants to. "He's holding me captive."
He glances down at me. "What if I could take you back home?"
My head instantly jerks up to face him at the simple insinuation that I might be able to go home and see my entire family. Especially Zaid, I miss him so much. I wonder briefly how he is doing as Alpha, before I come back to my senses.
"He would come for me again."
"And if I hid you?"
I think about that for a moment. It doesn't take too long, considering I have thought this through when I considered escaping and running for my life. "Something might happen to my family back home."
"You're making excuses," he says flatly.
"No I'm not, I'm just worried-"
"Alright, I understand," He says breezily, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Some might not blame you for not wanting to leave Fate."
"I do want to...It's just," I mutter, stumbling and stuttering over my words. "You're not listening."
"It's fine," he says with a shrug, backing away toward Fate. "You had your chance. Not anymore, Zayla."

So I managed to find some old writing I did when I was younger. And I throughly embarrassed myself reading it.
Like it's disgraceful.
I did a video on it if you guys are curious. Brace yourself for cringe.
