"I'm still fixing all the cracks."
Caroline's P.O.V
He was the last person Caroline ever imagined walking in through the doors of the mystic grill.
Dean freaking Winchester.
She hadn't thought about him in a long long time. There was a time when she couldn't sleep without crying about him leaving first. There was a time when she couldn't imagine falling for anyone else but him.
His golden hazel eyes and his cinnamon dazed hair. His perfect jawline and his hefty black leather jacket.
God! She had forgotten just how much she loved him. But she wasn't going to let him have the satisfaction of knowing he ruined her. NOT AGAIN.
She had enough problems in her life. Starting with the fact that she couldn't go near a human without wanting to rip out their throat because she was a vampire
And ending with the fact that her vampire best friend Stefan was on a killing spree with his crazy new hybrid buddy Klaus mikalson.
And in between was the fact that one of her best friends Bonnie was a witch and her other best friend Elena was supposed to be dead after Klaus used her in a ritual and drained her of her blood....but she wasn't.
Oh and to mention the fact that it was Elena's birthday and she had to plan a party that Elena didn't want for her.
She didn't have time for Dean and his assholery right now....scratch that she didn't have time for it ever.
Caroline put her brave face on, took a couple of menus in her hand and headed towards his table.
Caroline: "morning, my name is Caroline and I will be your server today." "What can I get started for you today?"
Dean: "hey there sweetheart, how about scrambled eggs with a side of extra bacon."
Caroline: (stuttering) "uh sure," "and you sir?"
Caroline turned to the brunette boy sitting across Dean. This had to be his little brother sam, except now he was barely recognizable, he was like 8 feet tall now.
Sam: "I'll just have the salad thank you."
Dean: "excuse my brother, he doesn't believe in eating real food."
Sam: "I'm pretty sure my salad is more real than the chemicals those eggs and bacon were made In."
Dean: "hey if bacon is the way I go. Then I win."
Caroline: (under her breath) " hopefully that will be sooner rather than later."
Dean: "what?"
Caroline: "I said your order will be right up."
Caroline ran to the kitchen counter, slammed the order on the counter then ran into the bathroom stalls, locked herself in and started to cry.
He didn't remember her.
How could her not remember her?! Did what they had meant that little to him! Did the little girl Caroline had mean nothing to him!!
Everything came rushing back to Caroline.
The first time she met Dean in the cafeteria binging on a cheese burger like there was no tomorrow
The first kiss they shared under the bleachers at the football game
The first time she held her little girl in her arm, right before her mum snatched her away and took her away.
He really didn't remember her....he didn't even flinch. He moved on...a long time ago.
It was time she did too.
Caroline dried up her tears and walked out of the bathroom like nothing ever happened. If he didn't remember her then dean Winchester never existed in her world either.
Dean's P.O.V
Walking in through the doors with his little brother she was the first thing he noticed.
Her wavy blonde hair, sun kissed face and ocean blue eyes.
God how could her ever forget her.
There had never been a day since he left that he hadn't thought about her. Hadn't thought about them.
He always told himself that he hated, hated her for aborting their daughter, hated her for never reaching out, hated her for how little he had meant to her.
But seeing her after all these years in the flesh, god he couldn't help but stare at the dirty blonde.
Sam: "Dean....Dean!"
Dean: "huh."
Sam: "you sure you wanna do this man? I know this isn't easy, I can take care of this vamp problem on my own if you want."
Dean: "no, no I'm fine."
Dean was great at hiding his emotions because where he came from....emotions were weakness.
So when Caroline came up to get their orders and pretended like she didn't know who he was, he played along.
He pretended like she was just another waitress. And when she practically ran away after taking their orders he pretended like he didn't see a thing.
He knew Sammy could see how hard this was on him but Sammy knew that Dean didn't like to talk about his feeling so he just decided to talk about why they were in town.
He slammed down a picture of the vamp Vic in front of Dean.
Sam: "alright so this chick said that her husband was killed by a vampire. A girl." " so she couldn't do anything but she witnessed the whole thing."
Dean:(rolling his eyes) "jeez, she couldn't give you a blurrier picture of the guy." She give a description of what the vamp chick look like?"
Sam: "no, just that she was blonde."
Dean: "oh great that narrows it down to like a billion people."
Sam: "ya after breakfast im gonna go to the local high school and ask around."
Dean: "ya you do that and im gonna to over there to the bar and ask around."
Sam: "Dean." "Drinking isn't going to make your problems go away."
Dean: " what...what problems?" "I don't have any problems."
Sam: "right."
Maybe Dean wasn't as good as hiding his feelings when he was around Caroline as he thought.
After all she was the first girl....no first person ever....who Dean considered telling about the hunting life too.
Alison's P.O.V
All Alison ever wanted was a normal life....one where she got married and had kids and lived her life in peace. But it's a life she could never have.
Her last boyfriend was an alpha werewolf and she was a hunter who hunted things like werewolves.
As if her love life wasn't complicated enough Alison's "mum" got bit by a werewolf and was gonna turn into one but she killed herself before she could because she would rather be dead than be a werewolf.
And the Alison found out the truth....she wasn't really and argent, she was adopted, she was given up by a mother who never cared for her.
And now she was sitting at a booth in a place called the mystic grill, in a town called mystic falls, staring from a distance at her mother, her real mother, the one who gave her up
Ali pulled out a picture just to make sure it was her and it definitely was.... It was her mum.
She saw her serve two guys at a booth and the run into the bathroom. For a second Alison felt bad, maybe something had happened to her.
But all that disappeared when she emerged from the bathroom smiling more than ever.
How could she be so happy? Does she even remember she had a kid?! Does she ever think about Alison? Why didn't she fight to keep her? Why did she never look for her?
Alison didn't know if she wanted any of these questions answered anymore.
She quickly put away her photo as the blonde approached her.
Caroline: "hey, decided what you want yet?"
Alison: " uh ya can I please get the waffles and a cup of coffee"
Caroline: " sure thing."
Alison could see Caroline was growing increasingly uncomfortable with her staring.
Alison: "uh I'm sorry you just look like someone I knew once."
Caroline: "oh that's okay."
Alison: "this might be a weird question but do you have any kids?"
Caroline froze in her steps....why the hell was this girl asking her that!
Caroline: "uh no...why?"
Alison: "you just look like you would make a good mum."
Caroline gave a little smirk at this and walked away....Alison got up and walked out of mystic grill and left a tip...she wasn't really hungry anymore.
On the way out she crossed the two guys Caroline was with earlier and gave them a little smile.
No one's P.O.V
Family is always complicated but not like the way this one is.
Will Caroline and dean ever confront each other about their past?
Will Dean be able to hunt down the vampire he's looking for?
Will Alison find out who dean really is to her?
Will Alison finally tell Caroline who she really is?
Is any of this really worth it?
But someone once said
||"When someone makes you the happiest and saddest person at the same time, that's when it's real, that's when it's worth something."||
