Aura POV

As soon as I reached my room I curled myself on my bed hiding under the large pink comforter. It was almost twenty four hours, I stopped weeping when I heard a voice.

It was my dad! Without thinking twice I quickly opened the door and ran downstairs .He was sitting on the couch talking with my mom who was standing beside him.

"Dad!" I said though it hardly came as a whisper but I'm glad that my dad heard it and turned back to face me. Tears started flooding seeing my dad. I immediately ran to him and wrapped my arms around his neck burying my head in his chest sobbing like child.

"Princess! What happened?
Why are you crying?
Is everything fine?
Are you sick?" He asked and I can clearly see the panic on his face and hear the  fear in his voice.

Seeing him in panic, I controlled my tears and gulped the words back which were threthning  me to say the truth to him.
"Nothing dad!
I'm fine!
I just... missed ....you... so.. much!" I said with hiccups which again came back due to my tears.

"Thank god !
You are fine!
You scared me princess!" He said kissing my forehead lovingly.

"By the way , I missed you more than you missed me!
See, I bought your favorite candies!
Now stop crying and give me that million dollars smile of yours which I missed too much!" He said taking the pack of candies from his laptop bag. I tried to take the candies giving a small sad smile to which he backed his hand with candies raising his eyebrow questioningly for my sad smile .
I widened my smile and he handed me the candies back saying "that's my princess!"

A week passed off as I bunked my classes. I was not that kind of girl who bunks her college but I no longer has the strength to face the people in the university . I'm thankful to Eric that she gave me her notes and submitted my assignments.

From that night, I can't sleep at night, if I did the emerald green coloured eyes of that stranger haunted me. According to psychology, if a person appears in your dreams everyday, then it means that the person wants to see you!

It was one am, I was fully awake staring at my room ceiling and my mind was wandering! It tends to think about something that happened a week ago.
My mind was like hurricane!
My mind was a wreck!
It's six pm but still my mind continues to wander in search of a person who left me in my own state of sorrowness.

To distract my thoughts and to keep my idiotic brain busy, I took the novel, The fault in our stars and started reading it again. I smiled when Augustus smiled , blushed when Augustus proposed and cried when he died! I'm thankfull to John green that he wrote such an amazing book.

I heard a knock on my door and I very well know that it was Eric as she came to me every day but I used to send her back saying I wanted to be alone. But not today, I got from the chair and as soon as I unlocked the door she stomped in to my room and gasped in horror looking at me .
"Aura!
What have you done with yourself?
Look at you, you look like a skeleton!"  She said pointing at my reflection in the mirror.

There was a lean girl whose cheeks bones are clearly visible ,clavicles popped out with dry, pale skin covering her bones, her eyes swollen, deep ,dark burying themselves under her large dark circles,  her hair worst than a birds nest , her nose red, her lips dried and when she gulped her throat the dryness in her throat was clearly visible . I know it was me and frankly speaking my own reflection scarred me.

"When thinking about life just remember Aura that,
No amount of guilt and sadness can solve the things of your past and no amount of anxiety can change your future!
You should get out of that Aura!
How many days will you lock yourself  in this room ?
Until you are dead?
What's the matter for living these many years if you have finally decided to give up on yourself !?
That's not the Aura I know and I love , and this Aura standing in front of me scares me with her tears and fears!
And you know how much I hate to get scared, so pull yourself up because I'm not going to live you alone today! " She said holding my shoulders and shaking me.

She walked towards my closet and was searching for something very seriously.

"Is there something I could help you  to get in my closet." I said raising my eyebrow at her.

"Nope! I can help myself and by the way I got what I'm looking for!" She said taking a emerald green coloured dress from my closet and again my thoughts went back to those mysterious emerald green eyes which I was searching for.

" Aura! "She shouted waving her hands in front of me and that's when I came to my senses and looked at her .

"What happened?
Why are you shouting? "  I asked questioningly.

"You zoned out! " She said and all I could say was "oh "

"Go and get ready!" She said handing me the emerald green dress.

"What?
Why?" I asked confused.

"What what Aura ?
We are going out and I'm not going to take you like this!" She said showing my bagged dirty blue hoodie and white turned into brown coloured shorts.

"No! I'm not going anywhere!" I started saying but stopped when she said,
"Who told you to give your suggestion?
By the way you very well know that I don't take ' no ' as an answer!
So it's better that you use your pinch of left energy in dressing yourself instead of fighting for things which weren't going to happen!"  She said shrugging her shoulders with a wicked smile. That wicked smile which always appears on her face when she know she is winning.

"Not this colour"! I said and she gave me a questioning look and I nodded my head in no.

'OK! As you wish!  At least you agreed to come out!"  She said and took out my white sleeveless top and maroon coloured shirt which reaches my just above my knees.
I changed myself after taking a good shower and she did my make up which was very minimal, with just an eyeliner and a lip gloss . She felt my brown hair down after curling the ends  .

"You look like a doll Aura!" She said smiling of her work and I have her a weak smile.

"Let's go!" She said dragging me out of my house and I can see my mom and dad smiling at Eric which she gladly returned .
Wait, do they already know that we are going out? I guess yes with the smiles on their faces. At least I'm happy that they are smiling. From the past week they were sad and smile has lost from their faces .

We went to the pub and the music was loud enough to rip off my ear drums from my ears and the place was fully packed with people who were screaming, dancing, laughing, drinking, enjoying to their level best like it was last day of life. We went to corner table and sat on the chair when Andy came rushing towards us.
"I'm sorry Aura!" He said taking deep breaths from his run and I immediately looked at Eric with my eyes wide opened.

"Why?"  I asked him trying to hide my panic.

"For the prom night!" He said and I glared at Eric . She immediately nodded her head in No and I know my secret is safe with my best friend.

"I'm sorry Aura, I never thought Jazzy would do such thing !" He said and sat their calmly without uttering a word. A long breath left from my lungs when I came to know that he was talking about jazzy and he only knows about that part of the night.

"Stop all that nonsense Andy! Eric said sending a deathly glare at Andy who raised his hands up in submission.
Come on Eric, let's dance!" Andy said pulling from the chair but she didn't moved a bit.

"I'm not going anywhere with you !
I'm here to spend the best time with my one and only best friend. We are going to gossip, dance and have fun. " She said to Andy sending me a wink and a smile left my lips. After my dad Eric was the one in my life who can bring my smile back when I'm sad.

"OK! Cool! I understood that it's a girls time not mine! " He said smiling and went off near the bar counter.

As soon as Andy left Eric started gossiping about the things I missed from the past week making me completely forget about that incident and I really started enjoying the music now.

It was almost past three hours and kept talking until Eric said,
"Come on Aura, I'll drop you home, it's getting late. "

"It's OK Eric, I'll go by cab I'm already booking it!" I said taking my phone and booked the cab.

"What?
No way! I'm going to drop you back .
Cancel the cab!"  She said trying to take my phone from my hands.

"Eric, I'm fine now. I know from the past week you were all over me ignoring your life and Andy ." I said assuring her with a small smile .

"It's OK Aura, Andy won't mind!" She insisted but I resisted and come out of the pub giving her a tight hug. 

My drive was silent and on my way I found an ice cream shop. I remember it was the same shop where me and my dad used to come on weekends after a long drive.

I requested the cab driver to stop the cab and got off from it. I ordered my favorite flavor caramel with extra nuts and honey. I took it and started walking in my own thoughts. After walking for how much time I don't know I came to my senses when I heard a scream !

A scream followed by the sound of a bullet shot . Panic rushed over me rooting to the ground making me  unable to run.
