A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Unfortunately, continued searching only led them to comments like the first rating that hadn't been five stars. They were short and left a compliment at the end of the remark. Nothing utterly terrible was said about working at Platinum Investments, and they had checked every posting. It left (f/n) feeling drained, and she eventually told Lee that she was going to get some rest so that she would be able to function somewhat in the morning. She had gone to put away her ice cream bowl, but he had offered instead, and she was too tired to argue.
After she had gone up to bed, Lee had checked two other employee rating sites, now familiar with terminology after having watched (f/n) go through the various comments. To his dismay, they were like the first one. He had a feeling that someone at the company monitored the ratings closely and made sure that nothing too unsavory got out. Or, perhaps, his parents really did a fantastic job at running the business, and they just had an a**hole for a son.
That was unlikely, though, if they knew about Kaleb's plan with Tristan. In fact, that made it impossible for that to be the reality. Sure, they might be good business owners, but they clearly weren't the best of people either. Noting the time, however, he shut off the laptop and cleaned the ice cream bowl before he put it away.
Entering her room, he noticed that she was fast asleep. She was lying on her back, and her right arm was over her eyes. Her breathing was steady, but her position read that she was stressed and exhausted. He put away her laptop and charger before he headed over to the side of her bed. Lee seated himself, and she didn't react to the added weight on the bed. Most likely, she was in a deep sleep.
Leaning in closer, he saw that there were no tear stains, but a frown was on her lips. He sighed lightly and gently removed her arm before he rested it carefully next to her. Her hand grabbed his in the process, and he glanced over towards their hands. A small smirk touched his lips. "Are you dreaming about me now?" he asked in a quiet, teasing voice, and her fingers let go of his hand. Nearly, he chuckled. "Don't tell me that you're awake?" (F/n) didn't respond, and he leaned in close again. She didn't react.
Amused, he stood back up and brushed some of her (h/l) (h/c) hair away from her face before he walked towards her room door. "I'll see you soon." He closed her room door behind him and headed down to the kitchen. Soon, Anita would wake up, and he didn't want to be caught off guard. Part of him was tempted to terrify her, but he'd resist for now. She needed to believe that he was an inanimate mannequin.
Once Anita was up, the day carried on like a regular shift. Lee stood in his usual spot in the kitchen. Nothing of interest occurred. Anita and Scarlett talked, but it was casual conversation when business was slower. The waiters and waitress came and went. (F/n) came into the kitchen a couple of times, but she didn't look Lee's way to act normal. Her demeanor was focused, and she seemed more aware during service than prior days, which brought a smirk to Anita's lips.
Most likely, Anita assumed that (f/n) was acting more like she had when they first had opened because she figured that (f/n) was secretly looking forward to spending time with Tristan. While (f/n) only sent a playful glare towards Anita, Scarlett glanced between them and asked what was going on. Anita grinned and winked. "She likes someone; she just won't admit it." More like, she dreaded someone, but Lee didn't correct the betrayer. Scarlett raised an interested brow, but she didn't question more on the matter when Anita didn't say anymore.
When service ended and the other staff left, Anita and (f/n) didn't take long to finish cleaning. (F/n) knocked on the doorframe to the kitchen as Anita put away the last dish. Anita stretched and sighed in relief when one of her shoulders popped before she glanced back to her friend. A grin was on her lips, and (f/n) froze. "... What's that look for? You're not going to tease me more, are you?" she asked, not looking amused at the prospect. "You were going to try and get Scarlett to start too, weren't you?"
"Not at all. I just couldn't help myself, then," Anita remarked, giggling a bit. Yeah, like she couldn't stop herself from betraying her and giving Kaleb her position. Nearly, (f/n) scowled, but she managed to wear just a tired, annoyed expression. "But," she smiled and rested her hands back on the counter, "I'm not going to tease you. Though, I do have an idea."
Before Anita could say another word, (f/n) pushed herself off of the doorframe. "Yeah, no thank you." She went to leave, but Anita quickly grabbed her right wrist and tugged her back. (F/n) looked to her not amused while Anita gave her puppy-dog eyes. Those weren't going to work, but she'd have to pretend that they did. "... What?"
Another grin overtook Anita's lips. "We're going to pick out your outfit!" (F/n) blinked before she swiftly freed her wrist and walked off. "Not so fast!" Anita called out as (f/n) walked faster.
"No. You don't need to pick out my clothes every time we go on one of these," (f/n) replied, her pace not slowing down any.
"Oh! So, you think that there will be more after this date?!" Sh*t. (F/n), realistically, knew that there probably would be even if she desperately hoped for the opposite. "I knew it! You like him!" Before (f/n) could prevent anything, she found herself tackled to the ground. She landed on her bottom while Anita hugged her and grinned up to her.
Normally, she'd only be annoyed and try to free herself. Now, she felt sick. At least, her acting was keeping Anita from suspecting anything. "I really have to plan out your outfit now. I need to make sure that you look great so that you'll grab his attention even more." (F/n) couldn't even get a word in. Anita's eyes seemed to sparkle, and she pulled (f/n) up with strength that must've been from Anita's excitement at the prospect of her actually liking Tristan.
"Since it's a walk, it'll be casual but cute!" Anita declared as if it was the most important statement made. (F/n) would've sweat-dropped if she didn't feel like running away and screaming at her situation. A part of her also wanted to run to Lee and ask him to help her find some dirt on Kaleb quicker even if that wasn't possible.
"How about I go on a walk with the mannequin? You three can go on a separate one," she muttered, the words just slipping out. A walk with Lee would be preferable, though, when she realized what she had said. Before yesterday, she would've hated the idea, but so much had changed in so little time, and she would be lying if she said that she'd rather hang around Anita more.
"Very funny," Anita answered, rolling her eyes. "But if you really like it so much, maybe, you can have it watch you change and help you select your outfit." Almost, (f/n ) paused in her steps at the thought. Yeah, she was placing her trust in Lee, but she didn't want him seeing her change either. At her silence, Anita smirked. "That's what I thought." (F/n) simply huffed.
"Do we really have to do this? It's only Wednesday, and I'm tired after service," (f/n) practically whined, her steps sluggish compared to Anita's. Anita was essentially dragging her along. "And, don't you have to get ready to meet with Kaleb?" She wanted Anita gone sooner than later. That way, Lee and she could search for more information on Kaleb.
"Yep, we're doing this. Kaleb can wait a little longer." (F/n) would've been surprised about her comment about Kaleb if she didn't know that Tristan was part of Anita and Kaleb's plan to remove her from the café. "Maybe, we can send a picture to Tristan to and give him a sneak peak of what to expect." Anita winked back to her, and (f/n) shook her head in annoyance. In reality, she almost looked like a deer in the headlights at the mention of the photograph. "It'd be fun, though, wouldn't it?" No, it wouldn't. If anything, it made her wish to vomit.
"Not happening. Leave my appearance to his imagination." Her tone was monotone, and she looked like she'd be almost anywhere else.
"That might be more risky," Anita teased and winked while (f/n) rolled her eyes. In truth, it might be, but she didn't want that scumbag having another picture of her. Hopefully, he didn't want to take any at the park.
Heading into her room, (f/n) was relieved to have Anita's grip off of her. (F/n) went over to her and seated herself. Anita watched her for a moment before she was sure that her friend would stay put. When she was, she went into (f/n)'s closet and began to pick out various clothes. Not to (f/n)'s surprise, the outfits all had shorts involved.
Soon enough, there were several outfits laid out on her bed, and Anita grinned to her proudly. (F/n) sighed and stood up as she looked over each one. "Can I wear jeans and a t-shirt?" Anita shook her head. "What a nice friend I have," (f/n) muttered sarcastically, which caused Anita to giggle a little. Then again, she did mean that sarcasm. Thankfully, Anita didn't pick up on that since she had used playful sarcasm so much around her.
