Stroll to Leave

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Personally, she would've stayed feeding the ducks the whole time, but they ran out of oats. They could just sit and talk, but she didn't want him to grow too comfortable and try anything, especially since there was no one else around the duck pond anymore or the nearby vicinity for that matter. That was concerning in its own right, and she shoved her hands into the pockets of her cardigan to hide her hands shaking a little. (F/n) felt only increasingly uncomfortable around him, and Anita abandoned her, though; that wasn't any surprise.

So, she opted to walk the park with him, making sure to stay on the path and take no shortcuts. It was quiet between them for a little bit, and she glanced around the park as though the scenery was the most fascinating thing in the world. Unfortunately, that didn't last long as Tristan did begin to engage her in conversation. "After work, what do you usually do to relax?" he questioned, hands in his beige jacket's pockets. She simply hummed in thought. "Or, do you prepare for the next day of work?"

Eventually, she shrugged. "Anita and I would have a drink and talk about the day, future plans and other such things." An awkward air grew around them, and he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Sorry." She raised a brow and averted her eyes to him again. "Learning about Kaleb must've rough." It only had been the tip of the iceberg. "Sounds like you both did a lot together."

"Yeah," she sighed out and looked forward once more. "I decided to give Kaleb a chance, though." Her tone wasn't happy but accepting even if she despised her own words. "Like I'm giving you." Their eyes met for a moment, and his lips upturned into a small smile.

"Well, thank you, and, maybe," he diverted his eyes and smiled softly ahead a little, "I can visit you while Anita is spending time with Kaleb." His pace slowed down a bit since hers did. "If you'd like company." She had company, and he would have her back, not Tristan. Tristan turned around and faced her when she stopped walking entirely. A worried glance crossed his face when she started to laugh.

If she was being honest, her laugh would be out of disbelief. Instead, she forced herself to make it humorous. She smirked to him and was happy that he didn't seem to notice any of her emotions beneath the surface of her gaze. "Only the second time we're meeting up, and you already want to come over?" (F/n) quirked a brow. "You sure that you're not wanting another fling?" Her tone was joking, but she wouldn't be surprised if he did want to move things quickly.

"What?" he asked, caught off guard. His cheeks heated up, and he stuttered on his next words, making them incoherent. He took a couple of steps towards her. "No, I 'm not," he swiftly defended as he slowly realized how his words sounded. "Sorry, that was too bold of me."

No kidding. She didn't voice that thought, however. Instead, she wore a teasing smirk and walked past him in victory. "Yes, it was." He didn't know how to respond, and she wondered if she was making him furious on the inside. (F/n) spun on her heel when she didn't hear steps behind her. "You coming? Or, should I walk the rest of the way on my own?"

Snapping out of his stunned state, he closed the distance between them and walked next to her. Part of her wished that he had stayed put and let her go off, but she needed to drag him along. It was awful, and her stomach tightened horribly when she noticed how he walked closer to her now. "You're going to make this difficult on me, aren't you?" he asked, his voice sounding a little exhausted.

"Would you expect anything less?" she glanced to him and met his gaze. "I thought that you liked me not jumping into anything?" Maybe, it was her imagining things, but it looked like he just swallowed his own words and wanted to curse himself for saying them. It was very slight and had she not been making direct eye contact, she wouldn't have noticed the brief regret in his light blue optics.

Breaking eye contact first, he sighed roughly before he chuckled. "Maybe, I should've held off on that," he joked, but she knew that he really meant his words. Tristan peered ahead before he stopped in his steps again. "Here. Let me show you my favorite spot here." He smiled to her. "To make it up to you."

"This spot doesn't happen to involve you wanting to kiss there, does it?" She looked at him accusingly, and he held up his hands in surrender.

"No, no, it doesn't." She didn't look convinced, and she, truthfully, wasn't. "I swear." Tristan held out his hand to her, but she didn't take it. Instead, she stared before she met his hopeful gaze.

Shaking her head, she faced away from him and muttered, "Well, show me where." His hand lowered, but he smiled and nodded. To him, that was a step forward in the right direction. Slowly, she was warming up to him, and he'd be pretty satisfied once she opened up to him entirely. Then, he could get his parents off of his back by marrying her all while improving relations between Fields' Interior Design and Platinum Investments.

Much to her dislike, they went off of the path, and she was hesitant to follow at first before he motioned her to follow. Reluctantly, she did. She kept her distance. "You try anything, you're not going to be able to have children," she warned in somewhat of a light voice, but it was serious too.

An amused laugh left him since he thought that she was purely joking. "I won't. I just think that you'll like this spot." They maneuvered around some trees and got further from the path. When she no longer could see it behind them, she heard Tristan stop. She faced him and saw a field of hepatica flowers growing in a clearing. It was honestly beautiful. "I found this earlier in the day before I met with you for dinner."

"It's ... pretty," she admitted, a pout on her lips.

Chuckling, he smiled brightly. "Knew you'd like it." He went over to one of the trees around the clearing and seated himself down. Tristan leaned his back against the bark and patted the spot next to him. Steadily, she went over, but she stood against the tree next to the one he was leaning on. (F/n) crossed her arms over her chest and stared out over the flowers. A light sigh parted from his lips when she didn't take a seat, but he didn't comment on her action. Momentarily, he closed his eyes. "I think that it'd be nice to lay out a blanket and spend the day here. Have a picnic and just talk," he voiced as he opened his eyes and glanced up to her.

"Is this another date you have in mind?" She didn't look to him, but she heard him laugh.

"Possibly. What do you think?" That she'd be a fool to agree to such a thing. Instead of saying that, she gave him a questionable look, and he chuckled before he stared to the flowers. "Right. Too soon. How about meeting in a coffee shop, then?" When she didn't answer immediately, he added, "Anita and Kaleb could come."

"Hmm, that does make it more tempting," she replied with playful sarcasm. Her eyes met his, and she pushed herself off of the tree. "But, a coffee shop is crowded enough." He sat up a little straighter, and she hated suggesting going on a date with him alone, but Anita probably would ditch her again with some reason or another. So involving Anita might be worse since she'd try to control the date more with her oh so considerate planning skills. "I don't mind us just going."

Now, he looked like a kid in a candy store, and she rolled her eyes. "Don't get too happy." She crossed her arms. "This time, I'm picking when we meet up, not Anita."

"Right. She does like scheduling things quickly," Tristan remarked with an amused laugh following. "When are you thinking?"

"How long are you going to be here for?"

"Another two months," he answered, and she paused. Sure, that gave her more time to work on finding information against Kaleb if he stayed that long too, but she didn't know how long she reasonably could slow things down with Tristan. Unfortunately, her shock came through. Tristan noticed.

"My parents are letting me have a break as long as I work on designs and take calls here." He smiled to her. "I really wanted to try and make this work. Perhaps, that sounds silly, but when I heard about you, I knew that I wanted time to get to know you properly even without having met you before." No, that sounded like a load of rubbish, but she forced her shock to morph into acceptance. Steadily, she shook her head, and he added with an amused smile, "Why, did you want to get rid of me?" Yes, she did.

"The last day," she replied, not responding to his question. She forced a smirk on her lips and stared out to the flowers. "We can go, then. I'll say goodbye to you."

For a moment, he stared before he laughed. "I see. Then, that means that I'll have to convince you to come on the plane with me so that I can talk with you longer." His eyes met hers. "Maybe, you'll even agree to take a break and stay with me too for a bit." She doubted that he wanted it to be for a bit. More like, he wished for it to be indefinite.
