Promise to Unlock

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

(E/c) eyes meeting dark brown ones, they held uncertainty in them. Lee could see that from a mile away. Part of him wished to tell her that Kaleb and Tristan hadn't killed anyone, as far as both of them knew, yet they were lying to her face and wanting to control her future. Sure, he had killed people in the past, in his opinion they deserved it, but he was being honest with her; he kept his word to her on multiple accounts. Unfortunately, he had a feeling that wouldn't make her trust him more. If anything, she might pull back because it was too forceful of an approach.

Let me promise you. He repeated the note since she didn't respond. I won't harm them unless they try to harm you.

"... Unless they harm me?" she asked, hesitation in her voice. "Why would they do that? I trust them."

I'm not saying that they would, but it comes from caution. He sighed lightly, but she didn't hear. Not all family members are there for each other. (F/n) peered up at him, the note remaining in her hand. She stared a moment longer as if analyzing for a further hint of what he meant, but she eventually focused back on the note. And if they did do something, I couldn't just stand and watch.

"So, you'd kill them?"

If I had to, if that meant keeping you alive. As she read, she noticed his hands tightened around the fabric of his beige pant legs. His gaze wasn't on hers. It's been a short while, but I don't want you gone. I don't want you to die some horrible death.

Releasing a sigh, she placed down the note. Knowing that he would kill them worried her, but he had mentioned that it'd be only if that was absolutely necessary. (F/n) doubted that it ever would be. Her parents wouldn't betray her, not like Anita, and they were the ones she truly was worried about. She didn't want Lee to kill them.

Deep down, though, she knew that to progress with the search she'd have to give in and grant him access to her social media. She supposed that getting such a promise from him was better than not getting one, finding herself in a similar position in the future and just accessing social media in a hurry. Then, she might not have that promise. Not to mention that Tristan probably would try to kiss her again. A shiver snaked up her spine at the thought. Before Saturday, she did wish to have more information on Kaleb or Tristan for that matter. Just something to have against them.

Averting her eyes back to Lee, she eventually nodded. "... Okay. I'll agree." Instantly, he looked up at her before she saw his shoulders relax. Immense relief washed over him. Good. They could move forward and stop those three before Tristan tried anything worse than he already had. Unfortunately, the day at the pool was the day after tomorrow.

Before he could write anything else, (f/n) stood up. "I'll go get a shower. Then, we can start looking." As she walked by, however, he grabbed her hand lightly. She paused and looked back to him. His hand gave hers a gentle squeeze. Her gaze didn't soften, but she didn't pull her hand away either. "And, you can tell me more about you."

Moving away from him, she grabbed some clothes before she headed towards her bathroom. A paper airplane hit her in the back. She glanced down and picked it up. I promise. I can see your worry. Please trust me. I won't betray my word to you. Now, a small smile touched her lips.

"Thank you, Lee. I guess that it's just my own mind keeping me concerned." She glanced back to him. "But, I'll do my best. Just like I have been with this." Another sigh escaped her. "And, keep being like this. It does help me come to terms with all of this more. To know that I can talk to someone about this and that he does have my back." Lee nodded to her, and she nodded back before she entered the bathroom. The door closed behind her, and he heard the water start shortly after.

While she showered, he leaned forward on his knees. He was glad that she had agreed. His feelings were definitely developing, and he desired for her to rely on him more, to have her closer, so that she'd be less likely to turn down his feelings. If she did, he ... well, he didn't want to think on that. It wouldn't be her betraying him, but he admittedly wouldn't be happy about it either, and he didn't wish to snap at her if he could avoid that.

Rubbing the bridge of his nose even though he felt nothing from the action, he stood up from the bed and grabbed her laptop and charger. He simply placed them on the bed for the moment. Lee headed back into the closet and glanced over her clothes since he was curious about her swim attire. Fashion had changed since when he had been alive in the traditional sense, and he wondered how swimsuits had adapted over the years.

In one of the fabric boxes, he found what he thought could be a swimsuit. The pattern reminded him of swimsuits from back then, and it certainly wasn't made of the same material that her undergarments were made of, not that he examined those in great detail. He only had seen a few times when he had been searching her room before they ever had formed their deal. Now, he made sure to keep his eyes away from the box with those in it to be respectful. Still, the two-piece swimsuit in his hand was ... revealing, even more so than the ones from his time period, and really did remind him of women's underwear.

Her swimsuit was powder blue with small white polka dots and white bows on the straps of the top piece. It was cute. He couldn't deny that, and he knew that it'd complement her quite a bit. In fact, he knew that his cheeks would be red if he had blood running through him. Lee did put the suit back, however, and he trusted that (f/n) would wear coverings over it so that Tristan wouldn't see so much of her. If she went into the water, though ... No, he'd rather not think of that.

Keeping his mind off such thoughts, he set up her laptop and loaded up what was called the internet browser before he waited for her to finish. It didn't take her too much longer, and she was in her grey plush sweater, dark blue pajama tank and black lounge shorts. "Do you have it on the site?" He nodded, and she seated herself next to him.

Do you want something to eat before we start? She shook her head and moved the laptop to where it was between them. (F/n) clicked the button to log her in and entered her information, telling him the password as well. He placed the note in one of his inner jacket pockets.

"I'll eat something later. Right now, I just want to find something." He had a feeling that she wanted to see his reaction to seeing her family as well. She wished to gauge how much he would stick to his promise, but he would. Her page loaded up, and he saw pictures of a couple that resembled some of her features. (F/n) had a feeling that he was staring at their pictures longer. "My parents."

I can see the resemblance. Based on all of the pictures, you seem close with them. It reminded him of his relationship with his father. That's good. I'm happy for you. She held his gaze and nodded slowly. Remember, you have my word, and I've kept it so far to you on all of my other promises. Lee rested a hand over her left one and gave it a light squeeze. You know how much I despise betrayal; I wouldn't do that to you. Never. He held her hand tighter, and she slowly intertwined her fingers with his.

"I ... Okay, I trust you, Lee." (F/n) gave his hand a squeeze back before she let go and focused back on the page. She was about to change it, and she even asked if he was okay with that, which he was. Before she did, though, she noticed something else on her page. "... Tristan and Kaleb sent me friend invites," she muttered, a frown on her lips. Annoyance crossed her expression.

What does that mean if you accept?

"It means that I gain more access to their content." She continued to frown. "But, they'll see that I accepted. That might make Tristan even bolder." Her hand instinctively wiped her lips as though he had placed another kiss on her lips. "But, it'll also gain their trust more; they'll be less likely to suspect something."

Accept, but if he tries anything this Saturday, put an end to it. Reading that, she did feel more reassured if she decided to stop the charade and tell Tristan that things between them had to stop. So, she nodded and accepted both friend requests. Once she did, she clicked on Kaleb's page first. Time to see if they could find something hidden among all of the posts. Both Lee and she shared a look before she started to scroll through the content on his page.

From what she saw so far, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. He talked about his business, Anita and trips he had taken. Most of the trips seemed for business, but other ones were planned for Anita and him. So far, she wondered if this was worth giving Lee access to her social media. He hadn't done anything yet, but he just had gained access. While she slept, he could do something, but she told herself that she had to trust him. Or, she'd constantly worry over that rather than stopping Anita, Kaleb and Tristan.

Noting the concerned expression on her face, he passed her a note. Something will come up. Don't worry. They may be careful, but I'm sure that they let something slip through the cracks. After all, they hadn't been too careful when you had overheard them. That was true, and she gave him a small smile out of appreciation. Ahead of them remained the whole evening.
