Phone to Destroy

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Had her adrenaline gone down? No, it hadn't. Her breathing wasn't steady, and she had pushed herself up onto her knees and scooted back from him. (E/c) optics watched him closely as he steadily picked himself up. His eyes didn't move over to her. Rather, they went to the phone in the toilet. Even he knew that electronics and water didn't mix. The phone was in the bottom. No doubt it was completely ruined.

Smart on her part in terms of how to destroy the phone before he got it. Was it smart, though, to ruin it? Well, it certainly made him curious as to what had been on her phone. She really might have gotten rid of it since she didn't trust him, and he supposed that was fair given the situation, but he wondered if she was hiding any dire secrets on it. Perhaps, (f/n) was no better than her friend and had betrayed Anita in the past. That certainly would change things.

When he turned to her, he watched her jump after they shared a momentary stare of silence. He could hear her heart pounding in her chest. She rose to her feet and bolted out of the door. Quickly, he got back up on his feet. (F/n) was racing for the bedroom door. It wasn't hard to catch up to her. Lee pulled her back by her pajama shirt. A scream left her lips. The tug was harsh, and her legs almost collapsed on themselves.

Easily, he dragged her to the side of her bed by the desk. She continued to struggle. "I'm sorry! I know that it had been stupid!" Her words could be truthful, but they also simply could be the product of fear. Some of his victims in the past had tried lying to him even as he was moments away from killing them. If anything, their failed attempts for begging for their lives only made him wish to kill them more.

Tossing her onto the bed, she bounced a little before she scooted herself away from him. His eyes stayed on her, and his right index finger pointed down to indicate for her to remain sitting. She froze and watched him carefully. (F/n), though, didn't really know if she had meant those words. Yet, part of her knew that she had let fear take hold of her and cause to think of an idiotic plan. So yes, she had meant them to some degree. Was she sorry, though? Well, that depended on what he intended to do in response to her action.

Gradually, her heartbeat calmed down, but she remained on edge. Her fingers curled into the maroon comforter. Lee walked over to her desk. A note soon found its way to her. Hesitantly and shakily, she picked it up. What are you hiding from me? I want the truth. Are you going to betray Anita as well? Is your family involved, and that's the true reason you don't want me to find out about them?

Reading over the note and given his recent actions, she had no doubt in her mind that someone in the past royally had screwed him over. That had to be why he was so invested in Anita's supposed future betrayal. She figured, though, that he wouldn't tell her about that, and asking him right now probably would piss him off further. If she could see his expression, she imagined that he wouldn't be looking joyful.

His suspicion about her betraying Anita, however, was completely wrong. "No." Her eyes locked with his. There was fear in her optics, but it wasn't like before. No, Lee could tell that she meant her words this time around. "I never would. Like I've told you, we're best friends. And, I still don't believe what you've been telling me." Her fingers tightened around the bed coverings more, and she hoped that he wouldn't attack her even though she was telling him the truth. "As for my family, I really don't want you knowing who they are. I don't want you going after them."

Leaning his hands on the side of the desk, he continued to watch her. He probably was waiting for her to break or tell him another lie. If she did either of those, she didn't want to think of what would happen. Telling him another lie might mean her death even if he hadn't seemed interested in actually killing her beforehand. It might be a breaking point of his. And if she broke, she didn't know if he'd be satisfied or decide that he was done 'helping' her.

"I know that I shouldn't have lied to you, but ... Well ..." His fingers tapped against the wood of the desk. Would he strike if she took too long? Lee's patience most likely was wearing thin. "It's just like you!" she finally exclaimed, managing to find her voice better. Fingers continued to tap against wood. "You don't want me knowing your vulnerabilities; I don't want you knowing any more of mine. I want some privacy from you."

Soon enough, a note landed on the bed again. And, just what would these vulnerabilities be? They must be major for you to toss your phone into the toilet. You even attacked me, knowing full well of how I might respond to that. Her heart skipped a beat, and she forced herself not to break eye contact with him. Desperately, though, she wanted to and curl under the sheets before she pretended that all of this was some dreadful nightmare.

"Things I like to do, eat, etc. Those kind of things. You could use anything against me if you really wanted to. And, my phone has more of that on it than my laptop, okay?" Was that everything? No, it wasn't. Truthfully, there were searches into Kaleb and Tristan. Had Lee's words gotten to her? Of course, they had, and her phone had clear proof of that even if she still didn't believe him about Anita. He'd use that information to point out that she had more doubts in her friend and that she should stop trying to resist what he would claim as the obvious.

What else? You forget that you're like an open book to me, (f/n). A frown touched her lips, and it was hard not to tell him to be quiet and leave her alone. That'd only put her in a worse position. "... I ... I didn't want you to see ..." He waited and crossed his arms over his chest. "... I ..." Somehow, her fingers tightened around the comforter more.

Finally, she couldn't resist the urge to look away from him. She stared down to her lap. "I'm just tired of you telling me that Anita's going to betray me. I'm tired of hearing about it. I didn't want to hear more." (F/n) bit her lower lip lightly so as to keep herself from yelling. Instead, her voice had been quiet. "... I ... was looking more into Kaleb and Tristan. See if they're up to anything. If they're planning anything. It was during some breaks of mine during the day. Unfortunately, nothing came up that I didn't already know about them." Averting her gaze back to him, she admitted, "You got inside of my head. I couldn't not check. And, I didn't want you to say that you had been right all along."

Next time, tell me that regardless of your fears. Now, you don't have a phone, and you're going to be sore in the morning. I hope that you'll have a good enough excuse for the bruises that will be on you. Did he have to point such things out to her right now? Of course, he wanted to prove that he was right. And, sometimes you have to hear the things you don't want to. Otherwise, you'll get stabbed in the back. Nearly, she asked him if that's what had happened to him to get confirmation on the matter, but she held her tongue.

When he walked closer to the bed, she scooted back a little bit. His left hand reached out, and she closed her eyes as it grew nearer to her. She leaned back instinctively, and she winced when his fingers merely rested under her chin. Lee's other hand grabbed her left one and tugged her closer. (F/n) squeezed her eyelids tighter together. Moving his fingers from her chin, he glided them along her jaw line and up towards her eyes. Two of them tapped very gently against her lids.

As his fingers pulled away, she hesitantly opened her eyes. She instinctively gulped at how close he was. He pulled away and let go of her right hand. Before she could do anything, he flicked her on the forehead. Not being able to stop herself, she muttered, "Ow." A laugh she couldn't hear left him. Lee walked back to the desk as she rubbed her forehead.

Note landing on her lap, it was easily readable to her. You made an unnecessary big deal out of this. I thought for a moment that you might be like your friend. Don't give me reason to think ill of you. If I do and you can't convince me otherwise, it won't end well for you. His message was loud and clear. She had screwed up but managed to save herself ... this time anyway.

A stupid and obvious question left her, but it came out before she could stop herself. "You'll kill me?"

Peering back to her, he tossed her another note. Yes. But, it'll be more than that. He didn't go into details, and she knew why. Lee left it to her imagination so that she would picture all sorts of horrid things that he might be capable of. An awful chill snaked up her spine at the thought. And, she was relieved when she read his next note. You should get some sleep. Maybe, think on how you'll explain your phone and bruises to Anita. I'll leave you be for the night. Promise.

Despite his promise, she watched him walk past the bed after he had collected all of his notes, which she had made no resistance in giving back to him. After all, she didn't need any more bruises or anything worse for that matter. He closed the door after him, and her shoulders finally relaxed. A long sigh left her. Going straight to sleep would be hard after what just happened, and she cursed herself for letting her fear get the best of her.

Such a silly action might cost her more than just bruises the next time, so she had to make sure that such an occurrence didn't happen again. Getting off of her bed, she moved over to her door and locked it. She moved the nightstand in front of her door next. And despite Lee's words against Anita, she was looking forward to when she wouldn't be the only one in the house with Lee. Hopefully, Anita would come home sooner than later that night.
