Organize to Double
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Service that morning went well, and they had experienced no issues. Some of the customers (f/n) even recognized, and she was happy to see that they were developing regulars for their business. During their operation hours, though, she felt like she constantly had to wear a mask since her mind wanted to travel off to thoughts about her conversations with Lee. Not to mention that she was curious to see if he had looked up anything on her laptop. She wanted to search it and find out if she could find anything more about him that might help her have the upper hand against him so that she didn't feel threatened every time it was just them.
Even if he supposedly was helping her with Anita, she didn't know for certain. He could be lying to her completely, and Anita wasn't planning on betraying her at all. So far, he was the only one with concrete evidence that Anita was planning something, and he wouldn't tell her what that information was.
Needless to say, her mind was doing spins around itself, yet she had to look not distracted during service. Thankfully, none of their staff noticed, and she hoped that Anita hadn't noted anything off about her either. The prior day, she had, and (f/n) rather wouldn't have that be a repeat. Then again, Anita wouldn't know what was really troubling her unless she directly told her. And, she wasn't going to be telling Anita that the mannequin was alive and accusing her of betraying her. Anita probably wouldn't believe it and get angry at her for suggesting such a thing. Plus, Lee probably would do something in retaliation for her telling Anita about it all.
When service did end, their other staff was gone and everything cleaned in the dining rooms, (f/n) was thankful that she finally could relax and look at her computer. Anita would be in the café for a bit longer so that meant that she could have some time to herself without Lee watching her or being close to her. Before she could head upstairs, however, Anita called out to her, "(F/n), did you want to sit and have a drink like usual?!" (F/n) stopped at the base of the stairs and headed back into the one dining room where she saw Anita by the kitchen door.
"Are you already done with the kitchen?" (f/n) asked even though they usually finished around the same time with cleaning.
Chuckling, Anita nodded. "Yeah, like always. What's got you in a hurry?" She crossed her arms over her chest and smirked. "You weren't entirely here during service either. Don't tell me that you're just tired again." (F/n) mentally cursed, but before she could answer and come up with some excuse, Anita continued, "But, I know the reason." Given the smirk still on Anita's lips, (f/n) doubted that it had to with the mannequin.
"Oh really?" (F/n) raised a brow and leaned against the doorway of the dining room.
"Yes. You want to run off before I talk to you about Tristan anymore." A knowing gleam was in Anita's light brown optics. Well at least, Anita was only a little close to the truth of the matter since Lee and she had been talking about him last night. However, (f/n) was more worried about Anita bringing up the guy again now, especially since the smirk on Anita's lips was looking more mischievous.
"You're about to tell me something about him, aren't you?" (f/n) asked, obvious worry in her voice.
"I am." She pushed herself off of the doorway. "So, do you want that wine?"
"... No. Just tell me, Anita. What did you do?" (f/n) didn't want to be distracted. Instead, she wanted the answer now so that she didn't form more theories about Tristan and combine those with what Lee was suggesting last night. She wanted to believe that Anita had no ulterior motive to having her meet with Tristan other than to keep her occupied with Tristan so that she wouldn't interrogate Kaleb.
Lightly chuckling, Anita quirked a brow. "You want to hear about him that bad already?"
"You know that's not the reason, Anita." A sigh left (f/n), and she rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Just tell me so that I can process what you signed me up for."
"You already know that it's a dinner," Anita commented, laughing a little. (F/n) hummed in irritation. "Oh, you think he's attractive. Don't act like it'll be so bad." Now, a glare was cast Anita's way, and she laughed more before she took a seat at their usual table, but (f/n) didn't sit. "Fine, fine. I talked to Kaleb more about it and texted Tristan too. We'll have dinner this Tuesday."
Immediately, (f/n) hung her head. "... Great. Can I take a vacation that day?"
"No, silly," Anita argued back with a laugh. "It won't be at The Iron Clipper either." (F/n) looked up and raised a brow, and Anita saw the worry in her gaze. "Not here either." Instantly, (f/n) sighed in relief. "It's going to be at another restaurant in town." Seeing (f/n)'s curious glance, Anita shook her head. "You'll know when we get there. Otherwise, you might go and try to cancel our reservations."
"There aren't that many restaurants around town, Anita. I'll still be able to find it." (F/n) smirked. "It's called the beauty of the internet," she teased, pushing herself off of the wall. "I think that I'll go look at my laptop." She turned her back to her friend, only to hear Anita get up and hurry over to her. Anita grabbed her left arm and tugged back. "Nope. I'm going up there, Anita."
"Don't be like this, (f/n)! Come on! You'll like him!" Anita cried out, tugging back as (f/n) started to walk off.
"Yes, I'll like a guy who has multiple flings and now wants me to believe that he suddenly wants a serious relationship. He sounds wonderful." Sarcasm dripped from her voice, and Anita pouted before she tugged back harder. (F/n) hadn't been expecting that kind of force and found herself falling back. Anita cried out as did she, and they both landed on the floor. Before (f/n) could recover herself, she found arms wrapped around her waist.
"Got you! Now, tell me won't try to cancel our reservations!"
"What?! Anita, let me go!" (F/n) tried to pry herself free while Anita shook her head and kept her held to the ground. "I'm not agreeing to that! You're the one who told Kaleb and Tristan without my permission. You just assumed."
"Sure, I did, but I know that you'll have fun," Anita argued back, but (f/n) continued to try to get out of her grip. "Fine. I'll text them and let them know we're eating here. Then, you can't cancel the reservations."
At that, (f/n) froze, and Anita smirked in victory. Anita let her friend go, and they both sat up. A heavy frown was on (f/n)'s lips, and Anita now grinned. "Knew that'd convince you. Also," Anita poked her friend in the knee, "make sure you don't dress down. Dress up."
"What if takes all night?" she grumbled out, raising a brow that was challenging her friend just to try and stop her from taking too long.
"It won't." Anita pouted and crossed her arms. "Take too long, and they'll come here." Groaning, (f/n) fell back and rested her arm over her eyes. "Oh, don't be so dramatic. Tristan looks even better in person." Another groan left from (f/n), and Anita rolled her eyes before she stood up. "Well, I'm going to go get a shower and head out. Don't fall asleep there, (f/n)."
From (f/n)'s lips came a hum of annoyance, which caused Anita to laugh a little. Once she heard that Anita entered her room and closed her room door, (f/n) sat up and ran her hands down her face. A frown remained on her lips, and she momentarily forgot about her laptop until she practically jumped. Due to them falling back, she had sat up in the dining room, and she now could see Lee poking his head out of the kitchen. She hadn't even heard the creaking of his limbs given how lost in thought and annoyed she had been. Well, she still was irritated for that matter.
"So, you heard all of that?" she asked quietly since she didn't hear that the water was on, and she didn't want Anita to hear her talking for obvious reasons. Lee nodded his head. He stepped out of the kitchen and walked towards her. She watched him carefully, but she became surprised to see him hold out a hand to her. A brow of hers rose from confusion. "... Umm, what are you doing? Do you really expect me to take your hand?"
Without another moment's notice, he grabbed her right hand and lifted her up. Nearly, she gasped until she remembered that Anita still was in the house. Almost, she lost her balance again, and she fell against his chest. A groan of displeasure left her, and she quickly pulled away from him, but he already was walking away soon after and into the kitchen. He motioned for her to follow him. "... What was that about?"
Once they were in the kitchen, she saw him grab some paper and a pen. A note soon flew over the counter, and she caught it. Thought you might want some help. Plus if I didn't pull you up, you'd still be sitting back there and sulking.
"Oh, so you feel bad for me?" she asked, narrowing her eyes and trying to figure out his motive.
Yeah. For a moment, she paused, surprised at his honesty. Your friend's using you, and you're too nice to call her out. Then again, this does work in your advantage. Remember, figure out what Tristan's real purpose is. A brow of hers twitched, but she soon saw another note land in front of her.
