Find to Stay
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Run. Lee wanted to race towards her. His legs wouldn't move, though. He couldn't stop staring. If his lips could part, they would from joy and relief. (F/n) was right there. She finally was back, but he couldn't go towards her. Only his hands slightly moved from clenching the wood more. That was it. At the same time, he was overjoyed and overwhelmed. All of his worries about her having passed were gone, and he wished that he could cry so that he could release some of the flood of his emotions.
When her (e/c) eyes met his dark brown ones, he watched as a smile tugged at her lips until it became brighter. Her eyes lit up, and his breath would've been taken away again if it could've in the first place. She was wearing a plum purple tee-shirt, black lounge pants and black flip-flops, but it didn't matter that her clothes looked simple; she was beautiful regardless and always would be. His optics did move to the bandages peeking out from underneath her shirt, and he remembered the blood that had been leaving her from that area a week ago. Now, though, she was healed, and she was back.
His eyes averted to hers, and she continued to smile. She took a step forward, but he finally was able to move again. Lee let go of the railing and turned towards the stairs. Each of his steps was slow, especially since she began to walk towards him too. How he wanted to run, but he didn't want to hurt her. That wound had been serious, and he didn't want to risk opening it up. And, that made him glad that he hadn't hurried towards her before. Instead, he had taken a moment simply to view that she was before him, and that made him more conscientious of her physical state.
Reaching the bottom of the stairs, he stood right before her. Almost shakily, his hands rose from his sides. She had set her belongings down closer to the door before she had reached him. His hands rested on the sides of her face, and his thumbs glided across her skin in a gentle touch. Steadily, she raised her own hands and rested them over his. (F/n) could feel his hands tremble, and his slipped from hers.
Confusion entered her optics when he began to lower himself. Soon enough, he was on his knees before her. His arms wrapped around her, and he rested his head against her midsection. Lee's body shook slightly, and she felt tears beginning to form. Even if she couldn't see his expression or tears, she knew that he was crying. His action revealed that.
Lee made no motion to stop and write a note. He just continued to hug her to him. A soft smile touched her lips, and her chest felt warm. Gently, she placed her hands on his head and glided her fingers across his black locks. His arms pulled her closer. No words left either of them.
After she glided her fingers across his head a few more times, she pulled away. His arms let her go slightly, and she used that room to lower herself to the ground too. In moments, she was sitting before him. Lee locked his eyes with hers. Tears trickled down her cheeks, and she smiled tenderly towards him. Again, he hugged her, and his face was tucked back into her midsection. Partially, his body rested against her lap.
Caringly, her left arm rested over his back while her right continued to brush against his gelled back locks. The plastic wasn't soft, but she didn't mind. His arms weren't warm, and his body pressed somewhat uncomfortably into her thighs.
None of that mattered. She was just happy to be back in his arms and to be finished with the whole plan; she could begin anew with the support of Lee and her family. Yes, there remained the legal procedures, but she wouldn't be on her own to deal with them. And once those were over, she wouldn't have to interact with Anita, Kaleb and Tristan again.
For right now, though, she enjoyed just being back with Lee. Yes, there was the fact that he might've killed Anita, but he had listened to her and held back. She knew that he could've pushed her aside at any moment during that incident, but he hadn't. He had told her that he'd kill them if they tried to kill her, but he ended up resisting that desire. Yes, it nearly killed her, and she wouldn't have pushed Lee away if he had killed Anita due to the situation at the time, but she was happy with how things turned out.
Thanks to Lee, she survived the whole ordeal, and those three would suffer to various extents the consequences of their actions. Maybe, Kaleb and Tristan finally would learn some humility since they might have to speak in court and admit to at least some of their actions if not all of them in public. And, she hoped that all of them would finally learn to respect people other than themselves.
Breaking out of her thoughts, (f/n) smiled again when she felt Lee begin to relax a bit against her. Gradually, he pulled away and began to sit up. He wiped away the remnants of tears on her cheeks before her hands held his. "Thank you, Lee," she finally said. "Without you, I wouldn't be here."
Strange. Her words, he heard them, but she was the first. The first person he had saved. It felt so odd, but he was so happy. She was alive, and he helped her. For once, someone he loved didn't leave. No one took her from him. Anita didn't succeed. And after all of the people he killed, he finally didn't. Instead, he fell in love with her and prevented her from dying.
Despite her taking a near fatal wound, she still thanked him. She still said that he had saved her. It was so bizarre to his mind, but he also was immensely grateful. To be thanked like she thanked him ... Well, he'd replay the moment over and over again in his head even as the years went by.
With no hesitation, he said, "I love you." The words came out so effortlessly. (F/n) couldn't hear them, but she felt them. His lips were against hers, and she closed her eyes. Lee's hands cupped her cheeks, and she held his hands there as she kissed back.
Of course, her shoulder was sore with even the small movements she did, but during the whole exchange, she didn't pay it any mind. She was too joyful to see, hold and kiss Lee again. When he pulled away to let her breathe, he lowered his hands and held hers. Their fingers intertwined. (F/n) leaned forward and pecked his lips before she whispered against them, "I love you too."
Most definitely, his heart would've skipped a beat if he had one. He would cry if he could. But, he was grateful to be with her even if he couldn't express everything he'd like to. What mattered was that he could spend the rest of his life with her. With her, he really did feel complete.
"Sorry for taking so long." Her eyes met his, and she gave an apologetic smile. "I came back as soon as I could."
Shaking his head gently, he took out a pen and paper from one of his jacket pockets. Don't apologize. I would've waited even if you took longer. I was just ... I was scared that you had died, but to see you alive ... (F/n) paused in reading and glanced to him. He was looking elsewhere. Her eyes looked back to the note to finish. I'm so happy. When she diverted her optics back to him, he still wasn't facing her.
"Lee." Steadily, he turned his gaze to her. "I'm happy too. To be back with you." She leaned her head against his left shoulder. "Thank you for waiting. Thank you for trusting me and letting me trust you. Thank you for helping me." A hand rested softly on the back of her head, and his head leaned against hers. "And when you're scared, I'll be here for you."
Onto her lap a note was placed. And, I'll be here for you. You always can count on that. A smile touched her lips, and she laughed quietly out of happiness.
"Thank you, Lee." She hid her face against his neck. Her lips were near to his plastic skin but not against it. "Despite all of the struggles that this place brought, I'm happy to have met you. I'm glad that I get to stay with you."
Taking his right hand, he held her jaw gently before his fingers moved to her chin. He lifted her chin up and rested his forehead against hers. Briefly, she closed her eyes and just enjoyed his presence. As she opened them, she remarked, "We'll be at my parents' for a bit. So during the day, you might have to stay still again."
Letting her chin go, he wrote another note. I don't mind. Even if that was where we permanently stayed, I wouldn't mind. Just knowing that you'll be there and that we don't have to worry about those three makes me glad. She smiled and rested her head against his chest. Another note was passed to her.
Where we move now doesn't matter to me. I'll go where you go. I'll do what I need to do so that my situation doesn't become discovered by others. What's important to me is getting to be with you now and forever. A smile touched her lips, and she rested her head against his chest. He had no heartbeat, but he was alive, and his hands on her back confirmed that all the more. They held her to him, and her hands held onto him.
Clutching at his jacket and shirt, she closed her eyes and breathed in and out. A smile remained on her lips. Lee pressed his lips to her head and continued to hold her for a little longer until he wrote another note. And, thank you, (f/n). Without you, I'd never have felt so whole in my life. You saved me too. That caused her to cry again, and she couldn't help but smile and laugh lightly.
Stopping laughing soon after, she cupped his cheeks. "Whenever you need me, I'll be here." He smiled even though she couldn't see it and rested his forehead against hers before he closed the distance between them. (F/n) smiled into the kiss, and Lee couldn't be happier. After everything, (f/n) had returned to him.
