Fall to Disbelief

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Frowning heavily, Kaleb rolled his eyes and tsked. "So, what if I did admit to them?" His dark brown optics met Anita's light brown ones. "You never had any problem with me cheating in the past. You just came right back to me." A smirk touched his lips. "Every single time." No longer was Kaleb trying to hide what he did, no longer was he trying to make up with Anita. His worried self minutes before had gone, and he no longer was pretending to be someone he wasn't. (F/n) could see the same transformation with Tristan. He wasn't looking awkward anymore. Instead, he appeared as though he was watching a movie and had some popcorn with him.

"Well, we weren't official!" she countered, stepping closer to him. "I expected a little more loyalty this time around, especially since you were going to be part of my business!" Her business? (F/n) almost bitterly laughed. Ah, so Anita never considered her to be a business partner in the first place. Good to know.

"Did you?" He placed his hands in his pants' pockets. "I'm willing to invest in your café. Help you boost your sales. Get you a sh*t ton of money, and you're concerned about me cheating on you?" Kaleb rolled his eyes. "Seriously, do you even realize what you're giving up right now by acting like this?"

"I'm realizing that I trusted the wrong person!" Anita didn't flinch at his words, but her tears kept coming. "I was looking forward to being your business partner. To us being something more, and you played around with that like it was some f*cked up board game!"

"So then, we're off?" he asked, seeming bored with the conversation now. His gaze held none of the affection it had previously, and he no longer looked like he cared about explaining himself. Instead, he just appeared disappointment.

"... I ..." Anita looked away from him and bit her lower lip. (F/n) seriously hoped that Anita wouldn't stay with him after what just happened. If Anita did, well ... Then, (f/n) might've just backed herself into a corner. "... Yeah, we're off." Her optics met Kaleb's again. "I'll make my café successful without you. I don't need your help."

"A shame." Kaleb sighed. "It had such potential, but," he turned his gaze to (f/n), "you could take her place and stay with Tristan if you want." A chuckle left him, and he peered over his shoulder to his friend. "You're okay with that, right?"

"Sure." Tristan shrugged and no longer pretended to be someone else. A vile smirk was on his lips. "I don't mind. It's not a bad deal, (f/n). With Kaleb's investment, this place can have other locations, and you still can move out with me to a nicer home than this once those locations are built."

"After all, you did pull this off," Kaleb complimented, smirking to (f/n). "I'm impressed and also now aware of what I need to make disappear on social media." He grinned. "Thanks for the information." Holding out his right hand, he asked, "So, you in?" Anita's jaw dropped again, and she looked heartbroken and hateful. (F/n) honestly was surprised that she didn't punch him when he gave the offer. But, her slight hesitation earlier did make (f/n) wonder if Anita still had feelings for the scumbag.

Not even lifting a hand, (f/n) raised a brow. "You're kidding, right?" Kaleb shook his head and kept his hand extended towards her. Now, she did laugh. "F*ck no. I wanting nothing to do with either of you disgusting a**holes." She pressed her hands on the table and leaned towards them both. "So, get the h*ll out of here. Anita's seen what you both are like, and I have too. The fact that neither of you even really care about what I just presented on the slideshow speaks volumes to your despicable ways." (F/n) pointed to the front door. "So, go." Her tone was low and commanding; it left no room for argument.

Shaking his head and shrugging his shoulders, Kaleb laughed. "What a bunch of idiots." He gave one last glance to Anita. "We could've had something special here." Anita didn't answer. She stared down to her feet and let the tears continue to fall while her fists remained clenched. "Have a nice life," he commented, mockingly, and waved once his back was turned.

"I wish that I had seen this side of you sooner," Tristan remarked, grinning over to (f/n). "Pity. Would've made for some interesting times." An eyebrow of hers twitched, and she looked ready to throw one of the dishes at him. He only chuckled and followed Kaleb out of the café. The door closed, and the dining room became quiet.

Diverting her eyes over to Anita, (f/n) sighed gently and stood up fully. Anita remained in the same position, and tears continued to hit the floor. It took a couple of minutes before she finally met (f/n)'s gaze. "I ... I can't believe you knew. This whole time." She released a shaky breath and wiped away her tears only for more to come. "And, you're still willing to stay here and work with me." (F/n) didn't say a word yet, and Anita used the back of a chair to support herself upright now. "I'm so sorry."

Despite her words and tears, something in her gaze just didn't look apologetic. There was hope there but something else too. It was beyond anger it seemed. Something more? And, it was directed at her as though Kaleb and Tristan weren't to blame even though they had argued fiercely moments before. "Are you regretting letting him go?" (f/n) inquired, not moving and almost chuckling in bitterness at the situation. If she answered yes, it only affirmed (f/n)'s decision to leave Anita behind all the more.

"I ..." Anita clenched the back of the chair between her hands. "It doesn't matter." Ah, so she did. (F/n) sighed. If she was to stay, she'd only be betrayed in the future again by Anita. That was certainly clear. "Just thank you –"

Cutting Anita off, (f/n) answered with no doubt in her voice, "I'm not staying." Anita stared, completely caught off guard once more. "You were going to kick me out of this business. You stomped upon my dream and thought it right to throw me to that vile excuse of a man." (F/n) pointed towards the front door in the process as though Tristan was standing there. "All this time, you used my friendship for your own benefit without a care how your actions affected me."

"What?!" Anita cried out. "I can't afford this place on my own, and where can I find a manager on such short notice that'll know how to run this place at the professional level it's being run at?" Anita moved closer to her. "And, your share of the company doesn't mean anything right now. We still have loans to pay off for this place. I won't be getting any extra money. If anything, I might only be able to pay off some of those!"

"You were going to have me leave anyway, right?" (f/n) asked, an eyebrow of hers raised.

"But, that was with Kaleb helping the place!" Anita argued and began to look desperate. "I need you, (f/n). Even if I were to find another manager, I'd have to pay them. With you, you don't have to get paid first." She moved closer to (f/n). "Plus if we need any more money, I can't get it from your parents, then. They won't help if you leave me like this, if you tell them what I did." Grabbing (f/n)'s hands and holding them tight, Anita begged, "Please! Stay! I'm sorry!"

"I'll pay off the loans that are under my name as I'm supposed to, but the rest falls on you." (F/n) ripped her hands away. "I'm not letting you toy around with my future anymore. We'll talk to the staff tomorrow about what they want to do."

"You're going to tell them about this?!" Anita yelled in horror.

"Yes, they have a right to know why I'm leaving."

"They'll leave too, then! They won't trust me!" she practically screamed out, tears now flowing rapidly down her cheeks. "(F/n), please reconsider! Why are you being so cruel?!"

"You brought this upon yourself, Anita. I'm not going to lie to our staff and let them be used by you either. They won't suffer your deceit for years like I did." (F/n) frowned deeply, and her gaze was firm. "You're the one who still is being cruel by asking me to do such a thing to them."

Slowly, Anita's hands fell down to her sides. She went over to one of the chairs and seated herself. Anita looked completely defeated. "I'll go put this food away."

"What a waste." (F/n) paused before she grabbed any of the dishes at Anita's comment. "This is all your fault."

"Ruining dinner, yes. Deciding to leave, yes." She stood up straight again. "I made those decisions. But, everything else. I was defending myself. I wasn't going to let you just walk all over me, Anita." Once more, she went to pick up one of the dishes.

"I ... Kaleb was better," she muttered, but (f/n) still heard. Anita was broken, and she looked to be in denial of what happened and the severity of her own actions. (F/n) sighed and picked up the dish. As she walked by Anita, though, and headed for the kitchen, she missed Anita moving her right hand. It grabbed the knife on the table. Lee witnessed the movement, however.

Continuing to walk towards the kitchen, (f/n) was completely unaware. "You ruined it all. And now, you're leaving me alone?" Anita asked quietly. (F/n) paused in her steps. "I'm not selfish. You should've realized before we even started this café and told me off before things got to this point. You're the selfish one here, (f/n), not me." As (f/n) turned around, Anita got up, and a knife swung through the air.
