Evening to Resolve

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Water ran in the bathroom. They both had moved upstairs with the laptop and charger in tow, along with the new phone. (F/n) was taking a bath since he had encouraged her to relax after the long day. Lee was sitting at the desk. Before (f/n) had headed into the bathroom, she had uploaded the recording from her phone to the laptop. In front of him was all of the evidence they had collected.

The various pictures, posts and now recording were all there, and it was the recording that tied everything together. For the entire time that Kaleb had known Harper, he had known Anita. There remained the possibility that Kaleb had met Harper before Anita, but they didn't have evidence of that. That didn't matter, though. What was of importance was that Anita had solid proof now of Kaleb's betrayal and what he had in store for her. He'd keep Anita for the money and fun but also maintain things with Harper for additional fun. It was clear that he liked having someone completely separate from work, and Anita wouldn't give him that.

Truly, Kaleb disgusted him. But so did Anita and Tristan. Anita was willing to give up a loyal friend for that scumbag and increased business if that lowlife of a man even really could boost the café's sales. As for Tristan ... Lee glanced to the phone. (F/n) had told him that Tristan had bought the phone for her and the accompanying charms. He didn't very much care for that lying pervert gifting (f/n) something, but he was happy that she intended to get rid of the phone.

What made his blood boil even more was what Tristan had said on the recording. The implication of what he meant ... Well if Tristan ever did try that, not that he'd get the chance, he'd find himself receiving a very different call, and it'd probably be good for him to get a running start. But, he'd find Tristan. Somehow, he'd manage.

Hearing water stop, though, he broke out of his thoughts and glanced to the door. She'd probably be several more minutes. His dark brown optics stayed on the door for a bit longer. He was grateful he changed his behavior towards her and had discovered Anita's true intent; he was thankful that (f/n) trusted him now completely and had accepted his help to take down those three. A fond smile touched his lips.

Even better, they'd have their picnic in the future, and they wouldn't have to worry about those three any longer. They'd be gone from their lives, and he could help (f/n) with starting up her new business. He didn't know what she had in mind yet, but he'd be there for her; he'd help in what ways he could. And, he'd keep away from his old ways unless someone threatened her. Remaining by her side and keeping her safe was more important than his past hobby. Not to mention that indulging himself in it might get her in trouble, and he didn't wish to risk that. Lee wished to help her in her future dreams, not destroy them like Anita intended, and he never desired to become like that deceiving pile of trash.

Eyes breaking away from the door, he sighed lightly and got up. They had everything they needed; they just needed to discuss when they were going to reveal everything. Lee walked away from the desk and headed towards the window in the room. It looked peaceful outside. Stars were becoming clearer in the sky, and silhouettes of birds were just visible. Soon, they'd fly away from the café too.

Bathroom door opening, he peered over his left shoulder and smiled to her even though she couldn't see it. She smiled when she saw him. Her (h/l) (h/c) still was drying off, and she was in her grey pajama pants and top. Purple slippers were on her feet, and she seemed cozy, which maintained the smile on his lips. (F/n) walked over to him and stared out the window. "I'd say that we did well on time. Beat the two months and escaped anything worse from happening with Tristan."

Taking some paper and pen out of his jacket pocket, he passed it to her after he finished the note. You dodged a bullet today and found a cure in its place. His hands were intertwined behind his back, and he stared outside as she continued to read. And, we'll be gone from here soon. I'm looking forward to it.

"Well, you'll get to see more of the world again after so long. And in person, not through a screen." She leaned forward and smiled up to him. "I'd be excited too."

A light chuckle left him, and he wrote another note. That's not the most exciting part, though. Upon her lips grew a smile when she read the next line. Getting to be with you without worrying about any of them will be. Having a lifetime with you will be. Being able to hold you in my arms, give you kisses goodnight and see you wake up beside me in the morning will be. All of that.

"That's right." A soft smile remained on her lips. "You won't have to head back downstairs in the morning. You'll be able to stay with me." Her fingers held the note gently, and she stepped closer to him. She stood on her tippy toes a bit and kissed his lips. Happiness shone brightly in her eyes. "I'll get to wake up and see you first thing." From her lips came a joyful laugh. "That is exciting."

Hands cupped her cheeks, and he tilted her face up towards him. Lee nodded while his thumbs glided across her skin in a soothing manner. She closed her eyes momentarily just to enjoy the feeling. A light pressure was against her lips, and she smiled into the kiss. When they both pulled away, Lee took her right hand in his left and led her over to the desk. He pulled out the chair for her, and she sat down before he pushed her in a little.

Resting his arms across the back of the chair, he watched her glance over the timeline he had written up of all the events and the pieces of evidence that went with them. "I'll print this out when it's time. And, I'll have the recording ready." She reached back and grabbed his hands briefly. "Good work, Lee. The timeline will show that Kaleb never changed his ways for her. And, the recent recording will ensure that Anita can't brush aside his behavior as being in only the past."

Before he could respond, the phone vibrated. She averted her eyes to it and saw that she had a message from Tristan. "Talk about timing." (F/n) looked to the wall clock. "Yep, it's been about a few hours." A bitter smile touched her lips. "At least, he was honest about that."

Typing in the security code, which she had changed after the initial one, she unlocked the phone and pulled up his message. Would love to take you to the hotel again. Again, sorry that our time got cut short there. What day would work for you? And, what time? Hands rested on her shoulders, and she knew that Lee was holding himself back. (F/n) placed down the phone and placed her hands over his.

"What do you think?" Her hands squeezed his a little. "When should we bring this charade to a close?" (F/n) released a slow sigh. "The sooner the better, right? I'm so tired of all of this sh*t."

Squeezing her hands back, he leaned forward and kissed her right cheek. His arms soon reached around her, and he wrote another note. She leaned back against the chair and enjoyed the comfort of his arms around her. Yes. Didn't you originally have a date with him this Thursday? (F/n) nodded, and he wrote another sentence. Let's plan for Thursday, then. Afternoon due to café work.

"Okay, I'll have him meet me here. Anita will be here, but what about Kaleb?" She crossed her arms. "We need to make sure that he's available, but Tristan will think it odd that I want him to come over too when we talked about having time to ourselves." (F/n) shivered at the thought.

Doesn't matter if he thinks it odd. We just need them all here. Lee rested his chin on her shoulder. You can finally show Tristan the café, and it'll make them think that you've taken a huge step by inviting both Tristan and Kaleb over. They'll be caught off guard completely.

"True, and I'll have everything prepped." (F/n) picked up the phone and texted him back. She set the time for five in the afternoon this Thursday. Service would be over, and she'd use the remaining time to prepare everything. Of course, she'd just tell Anita that she was getting ready for Tristan's arrival. Anita would grin and squeal from excitement while suggesting revealing outfits, not that she'd let Anita into her room.

Text sent, they both waited for a response. To their surprise, the phone began to ring. She saw that he was calling her. Must've been more of a shocker to him than they had been expecting. Answering, she put the phone on speaker. Lee became motionless so that no creaking would be heard. "So, I thought that you wanted it to be just us?" Tristan chuckled out.

Forcing a laugh, she responded, "I did, but I think that you've both earned the right to come over here. We can all have dinner together." She sighed a little and sounded apologetic. "Last time probably hadn't been the best for Kaleb. So this time, I'll play nice."

"Will you now?" he teased, and she practically could envision his vile smirk. "Well, I know that both Kaleb and Anita will appreciate that. I'll see if Kaleb will be able to come." Before he hung up, he added, "And, should we go to the hotel afterwards so that you still get to see more of it." Almost, she gagged.

"Yeah, let's plan on that." Her tone was kind, but she didn't want the conversation to continue anymore. "I'll see you Thursday?"

"Yeah, I'll get back to you about Kaleb." He chuckled. "Just be prepared with Anita. I'm sure that she's going to be asking you a lot of questions."

"Oh, I know." Then again, Anita might be in too much shock to inquire about anything. She chuckled a little gently to make it seem like she was amused. "I'll keep a listen out for her. Talk to you later." He hummed in response and returned the phrase before they both hung up. Soon, it'd be over.
