Date to Hide

A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.

Soon enough, another note landed in front of her. And, don't you think it odd that she wants you to go have dinner with this Tristan? At first, she didn't respond since her mind was processing the question and going over various reasons of why Anita would want her to meet with him. Frankly, though, it was rather hard when she had a mannequin staring right at her that could kill her in her sleep if he wanted to. (F/n) didn't think that he slept after all.

Or, maybe, he did, but she doubted that he'd disclose that information to her, much like how he was vague on what he was besides just being a mannequin. Perhaps, he really just was a mannequin named Lee, and that's all there was to him, but she had trouble believing that. Mannequins just didn't come to life. At least, none of the ones she had seen in the past had done so.

"No," she finally responded, setting down the note. "Anita likes going on double dates. She likes me having someone to have by me." (F/n) huffed. "Probably so that I don't ..." Lee rested his chin on his palm, and she just had a feeling that he was smirking. "Okay, fine. She likes me to be occupied with someone else so that I don't focus on her relationship unless she needs to vent to me about hers." She crossed her arms. "But this time, I'm all too aware of Kaleb, and she can't stop me from being concerned just by having me meet this guy."

When another note found its way onto the bed, she lifted it up. Still, the timing is odd. You don't like Kaleb, and all of a sudden she finds this guy for you? Well, it was kind of out of the blue, but Anita had been teasing her about dating someone for awhile, so she might've been looking for someone and recalled this guy she knew for awhile. Though if she did know him for awhile, why hadn't she brought up Tristan sooner? Knowing Anita, she would've asked him to come along on their last dinner that Kaleb and they had together.

Continuing to read, she frowned a bit as more thoughts on the matter pestered her. And, she just happened to meet him in a bar, and they kept in contact? Anyone can use that as a cover story; it's incredibly common. I mean I know that can happen and all, but why not mention him sooner if she likes having double dates so much? So, he was thinking the same thing as her. Or, he might be pushing her in a direction that he knew the answer to already. Plus, he advertises his flings, only to want to commit to a relationship? I mean he's honest, but he also sounds quite arrogant. When did he even show others these pictures? Is that on that cell phone too?

"And, you're not arrogant?" she asked, raising a brow. He sat up straight, and she realized she shouldn't have said anything, but it was true. He was sitting at her desk like he owned the place and acting like he could control her every action. Then again, she was listening to him and letting him get inside her head, but his points annoyingly made sense. Another note greeted her.

I'm confident because I know what I see and hear. You're the one who wants to believe that Anita won't betray you. Now, are you going to answer my last question? She tsked. "Yet, you fail to tell me why she's going to betray me." He didn't move or right another note, and she inwardly groaned; however, she didn't forget what he was capable of. Instead of 'helping' her, he could be attacking her. "Fine. And yes, the picture date is ..." Wait, that was a good point. (F/n) had been so caught up in noting that he had flings that she hadn't actually paid attention to when they had happened, only that they had.

Pulling up his social media page, she kept her guard up and kept an eye on Lee. He simply stared at her as he sat in a relaxed manner. His most recent picture had been a couple of weeks ago. That wasn't long ago, and a heavy frown appeared on her lips. "I already agreed to meet with him. Well, more like Anita agreed for me," she muttered out towards the end.

Once more, a note landed on the bed. Well, I'm not saying not to meet with him. Just that Anita may want you to meet him for reasons different from her usual ones. She gave him a look that indicated for him just to tell her what he was implying. Another note rested on the bed. Use this as an opportunity to learn about how she will betray you. How might Tristan be involved? Just what benefit might he bring?

"Okay, but you could also solve this problem of mine, which you seem to be pretty invested in," she noted, raising another brow at him, "by just telling me what you know. Why go the long way?" This time, she caught the note.

Unfolding it, she frowned again and couldn't help but glare at him. This is more entertaining. Besides, you don't even entirely believe what I've been telling you. No point in spoiling the answer now. But, I know that you'll find it. She gave him a look that asked just how he was so sure of that, and she got her answer soon after. Because, you have my help, and I'm quite good at finding out about people's lies.

"Right. There's your supposed confidence," she muttered as she got off of the bed and created some more distance between them. Luckily, he didn't motion for her to sit again, but she did tense when he stood up. "And, I take that you're not going to tell me how you're such a good lie detector." He walked closer to her, and she backed up a little, but he walked right by her and towards the door. Writing in the air, he answered in the negative. A huff left her, but she was glad when he left the room.

Yet she knew that he wanted to leave her with her thoughts. Based on what he had told her and how he carried himself, Lee probably wished for them to sink in and have a lasting effect. Well, they certainly were. Now, this next dinner carried a lot more worry with it. Would Anita really want her to meet someone because she was planning on betraying her down the road? And, how would meeting someone help that? Make her distracted ... Actually, it could if she did happen to like Tristan, but she already wasn't too fond of him, minus his looks.

There also was the fact that Anita didn't give her the password for her laptop. (F/n) glanced over to the item, and she turned it off. She needed to put it back, but she did wonder just what might be on there. Anita's excuse did raise some alarms. Did Anita really not trust her enough to let her use her laptop?

Grabbing the object, she stared at it a moment longer before her (e/c) optics fell onto her room door. Was Lee standing just outside again? Perhaps, he was waiting to see if she would try and get on the laptop, but she wouldn't. First, she'd meet Tristan and see if he really was Anita's way of getting her distracted from whatever she was hiding. Hopefully, that wasn't Anita's plan, and she really hoped that Anita wasn't going to betray her.

Then again, she could just be letting herself fall into a trap of Lee's. It was bizarre enough that the mannequin was alive, but now she was taking advice from him, or at least listening to him. And when things came down to it, she really should trust Anita over an old, creepy and alive mannequin. With that in mind, she steeled herself and opened her room door. He wasn't there, and she checked the hallway as she walked to Anita's room.

Going inside, she didn't spot him in there either. Rather, she was able to place the laptop on Anita's bed, which was where she usually kept it. She knew that since she always saw it there when Anita's door was open and she wasn't on it. Though, her door had been closed earlier, but she figured that it'd be fine. If it wasn't in the right spot, she'd just tell Anita that she had grabbed before she put it back in her room after she didn't disclose her password.

Leaving the room, (f/n) froze somewhat when she saw Lee leaning against the wall at the top of the steps. "... Did you need something else?" He pushed himself off of the wall before he shook his head and headed back downstairs. So, she had put the laptop back instead of trying to figure out the password. How kind of her. Even if he thought it foolish, it did extend the show for him. Besides, he was helping her out and giving her nudges in the right direction, which was more help than he needed to give. In fact, he didn't need to give any; he could just let (f/n) fall to ruin, but he'd much rather see Anita and Kaleb in that position than (f/n). To him, they definitely were more deserving of such a fate.

Annoyed and still worried about his behavior, she wasted no time in getting back into her room. She closed and locked the door, as well as moving a nightstand in front of the door, before she grabbed some clothes and headed into her bathroom. A warm shower would do her good. (F/n) just wished that she didn't have a mannequin roaming the halls as she took one.

While her thoughts were relaxing, Lee debated on whether or not he should check her computer, but he still was worried that she might find out too much information on him, then. What if she could track what he was doing on the laptop? These new inventions seemed handy, but he had no idea what negative consequences they might have either. It certainly would be nice to know whether his old friend was dead or not. And if he was dead, how he died.

Pausing in his steps, he glanced back up to her room. He could just hear water beginning to run. A smirk touched his lips. So, that's why he heard her moving furniture. Most likely, her door was blocked in some fashion or another. Cute. Regardless, her laptop was in there, and he wondered if he could learn on the device itself whether it kept information about his searches on there. It was worth a shot. Maybe when she was in a deep sleep, though. If she was up, she'd probably try to look at what he was looking for. Then, she could try and use that information against him. Would she actually be successful in doing that? He didn't know, but he'd rather not risk it either. Sure, it might be fun to watch her piece together his history, but he also didn't want to make himself even more vulnerable. Her knowing that he was alive and willing not to attack her already gave her an opening.
