A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Behind him, she kept her distance and watched his every step. His limbs moved normally, but that creaking sound emitted from them. He had to have been locked away down there for some long portion of time, and she wondered how much of the metal in him was rusted. There also was the question of how he even became a mannequin, or was he always a mannequin? Was she dealing with a demon possessing the item, and when they had Jason take down the wall, they had broken some unseen seal keeping him locked up? (F/n) didn't know, and that's why she wished that he had answered her question last night better other than saying he was a mannequin named Lee.
Her lack of information only made her more cautious. For all she knew, he could spin around and jump her. Thankfully, he didn't, especially when they were on the stairs going up, but he wasn't even telling her what he wanted at the moment. There was paper and pens in the kitchen, so it's not like he wouldn't have been able to communicate to her back there. Even if there wasn't, he could've used hand gestures to try and get his message across.
At the top of the stairs, he headed over to Anita's room. Inside, he grabbed her laptop and held it out to her. "What? You want me to go on her laptop?" She raised a brow. "I'm not going to intrude on my friend's privacy." Lee continued to hold it out to her, but when she wouldn't take it, he simply walked by her and into her room. He placed it on her bed and motioned her to sit before he headed over to her desk and took a seat. His eyes locked onto her, and he just stared with his hands intertwined on the desk. "I already told you that I'm not going to spy on her."
Lee unfolded his hands and grabbed what he needed. A paper airplane flew over to her and landed at her feet. (F/n) picked it up and read over the message. She will betray you. Look. Don't you want the upper hand? "She's my best friend, not some enemy who's going to ruin my life." He continued to stare, and she crumpled up the note. Yes, she was worried that he might try something by her refusing, but she wasn't going to put all of her trust in a living mannequin that had been tormenting her previously and still was. "You know how you can make this easier?" Folding his hands once more, he waited. "You can tell me why you think she'll betray me. You obviously know, but you're getting a kick out of me not knowing."
If his face could change, he'd be smirking in amusement. (F/n) couldn't see the smirk. She only saw his blank eyes continue to look at her. When he didn't write another note, she threw up her hands and turned away, but when she heard her desk chair move, she remembered just who she was dealing with. Perhaps, she had gotten a little too comfortable with the present situation since he had seemed just to want to talk presently.
Peering over her shoulder, she saw him standing up. His right index finger was pointed down. "... And, what will you do if I don't?" If only she could hear him sigh. She honestly was lucky that he couldn't leave the house and mess with someone else. Not to mention that she was being betrayed by her best friend and he could relate. Otherwise, he probably would've killed both Anita and her and moved onto somewhere else. He knew Anita's secret, and he easily could get Anita to confess to it in front of (f/n), which would lead to (f/n) spilling her secrets. After that, his work would be done, and he could move onto killing them.
But no. He was trapped in the house, and he couldn't just kill off his two victims. Sure, there were customers, but they'd stop coming if the business closed. Maybe, some ghost lovers would come around to inspect a haunted building. Those weren't certainties, however, and he didn't want to be bored out of his mind for so long again.
Seeing that she wasn't budging, though, he began to walk towards her. That's when she finally seated herself on the bed. He opened the laptop and motioned for her to type. Her hands didn't move, though. "No. I already said no." She looked up to him, and he pressed the power button. "Look, I don't even know her password." Lee paused before he moved over to the desk.
Another note landed in front of her. Shouldn't that make you question some things? "No. She doesn't ..." Wait, Anita did know her laptop password. A third note was in front of her. And if you don't know hers, why were you arguing so much about going on her laptop? "I was arguing because it's the principle of things." Her brows furrowed, though, in thought. Anita used her laptop because Anita's model was older than hers, and it sometimes was quicker for Anita to order items online through her laptop.
Even still if she ever needed to use Anita's laptop because something happened to hers, she wouldn't be able to if Anita was out of the house. Sure, she could call and ask for a password, but why hadn't Anita given her the password in case of emergencies? Another smirk fell onto Lee's lips. Good, he got into her head again.
Retrieving her phone, (f/n) texted Anita if she could have her laptop password since her laptop was acting funny at the moment. She sent the text and waited. When she was about to set her phone down, though, she practically jumped since Lee was right by her. Quickly, she backed away from him, and he stood back up fully before he went over to the desk and seated himself once more. Her eyes stayed on him for moment, but she kept her distance from him.
Shortly after, her phone buzzed. She reached across her bed, grabbed it and read over the message. And, it ... wasn't what she had been hoping for. Sorry. Can't at the moment. Have you tried rebooting your laptop? My laptop is older than yours, so it probably won't help too much anyway. Sure, it was older, but that didn't make it useless. Besides, she already had Anita's laptop up, courtesy of Lee, and it seemed to be working fine.
In front of her, a note landed. Looks like you didn't get the answer you wanted. Almost, she told him to shut up, but she remembered who she was with and that such an answer probably wouldn't go over well with him. "... No. But, she's probably busy or has had a few drinks." Then again, Anita just had left several minutes ago. So, that argument didn't hold much weight to it, and with how Lee rested his chin on his hand, she figured that he knew that too.
Looking up, she saw another note coming towards her. She caught it. Now, do you believe me? Tsking, she threw the note aside. "She won't betray me. I don't know what you know, but she won't." He leaned on his hand more, like he didn't believe one word she said. Her irritation at him canceling out her fear at the moment, she pointed out, "You keep making Anita out to be a villain, yet what about yourself? You've been spending these last days and nights terrorizing me. Not to mention that incident in the bath!" Her voice raised towards the end, and it stayed at that volume for her next statement too. "How about we talk about you being pervert for a moment?!"
Only after her words left her did she realize her mistake. Lee sat up straight and rested his elbows on his knees. He stared ahead at her and hung his head as though he was laughing. Maybe, he was, but she couldn't hear it. In the next moment, though, he was on his feet. Swiftly, she hopped off of the bed and backed up towards her room door. Her next steps were too quick, however, and she tripped over her own feet, landing on her bottom.
Standing over her, he crouched down before he grabbed her shirt and tugged her forward. Fear dominated her eyes, and she was too scared to lift up her hands. He seemed to analyze her for a moment before he stood up and brought her with him. When she saw that he was about to throw her, she grabbed his hands, but she was too late. She landed on her bed and bounced a little. Quickly, she backed up against the headboard and picked up the nearest item, her phone.
Crossing his arms, he watched her in amusement. She held up her phone even if it wouldn't do much, and he walked back to the desk. This time, he held the next note in front of her face. Shakily, she grabbed it. I can't feel anything. The only pleasure I got from that was watching you get worried at that time when you realized that you might've not been imagining things.
"That doesn't excuse you invading my privacy," she harshly said back, only to grow quiet when he leaned closer to her. She gulped, but he only grabbed the note and added another sentence. No, but I was entertained. But, I won't invade your bath time again if you admit to me that you're doubting your friend. "What? You shouldn't invade it regardless!"
Getting another piece of paper, he answered soon after. Probably. But, you forget that I don't care. You should just be grateful that I've decided to help you rather than keep making you think you're going crazy.
"... Fine. I'll agree to your deal if you apologize." She locked her eyes with his. Her heart was beating faster since she didn't know if she just pissed him off or not, but she also didn't want him coming into her bathroom when she was bathing. After all, Anita wouldn't be at the house during the night for a little bit. So if she wanted to stay clean, she'd have to bathe with the mannequin in the house.
For a moment, he didn't do anything. Eventually, though, he went over to the desk and wrote another note. When it landed in front of her, she picked it up. I suppose that's fair. I'm sorry. But, it was amusing, and you are attractive. An eyebrow of hers twitched, and she sighed. "Next time, just stop at, 'I'm sorry.'" She met his eyes. "But, you did apologize, so I'll admit that I'm worried about Anita. It doesn't take long to write a password, and we've been friends for long enough that she should trust me. It makes me think that she's hiding something from me, like she had hid Kaleb."
