Close to Call
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Mentioning that he could be done with the computer, he chuckled. Well, he could, and he had gone through all of her history. Plus, she wouldn't tell him the usernames and passwords to get into the other locations. He always could threaten her again and see how much she really meant her other words, but he'd rather not take to torturing her at the moment. Not to mention that if he accidentally killed her, he'd be stuck with just Anita in the building when the other staff and customers weren't around. Even worse, Kaleb might move in. Then, he might just have to deal with two a**holes until someone new came along. Yeah, he definitely wanted to avoid that.
Deciding to be nice, he turned off the device and closed it. He faced her and rested his chin on the knuckles of his right hand as if saying, "Happy now?" A non-amused expression crossed her countenance before she rolled her eyes and cautiously went towards him. (F/n) unplugged the device and wrapped up the cord. She proceeded to grab the laptop, but she watched him out of the corners of her eyes too. Lee continued to maintain the present position he was in.
It wasn't until she exited the dining room that she heard a chair slide back. She paused in her steps and glanced over to him, and she was half-tempted to bolt up the stairs when he started walking towards her. Instead of bolting, though, she inched closer towards the first step. He, however, walked around her and went up the steps first. At that, her eyes widened, and she hurried up after him, especially when she saw him make a phone sign with his hand.
"You're not going through my phone either!" she called up after him. He continued to walk. "You can't even use it without my help!" Lee, though, didn't listen and managed to make it to her room before her. By the time she entered, he already had her phone and was sitting at the desk. A glare set on her face, and she clutched her laptop and charger to her chest out of frustration.
A note found its way over to her. Hesitantly, she put her laptop away along with her charger and managed to keep an eye on the mannequin even from within her closet since she only partially was standing in it. Once that was away, she closed the door and glanced to note. I know that I can't. I want you to help me. I won't look at your family information. That's blocked from my view, and we already had that discussion. I want to see what else you have on here.
Lee didn't know about the contacts section on her phone, but that would have her family's information on it too. It even had some of Anita's in case her parents ever needed to call her because they couldn't reach Anita themselves. Even if he didn't know about that section, he'd probably be able to find it, especially since it came up on the home screen.
"No." She didn't want to tell him, but he'd keep pressing her if she didn't. And, she didn't want to risk finding herself in a worse position than she already was. "That has my family's information on it too." Of course, she could delete all of her contacts, but she wanted to see if he'd stop wanting to go through her phone. He didn't know that she could do that.
I won't look at it. I won't have access to it either unless I actually will. He most certainly was smirking. She just knew it. I suppose that since this is a phone you reasonably would know the phone numbers of your family members. I'd learn their names too. Perhaps where they lived as well given how advanced these modern tools are. A frown continued to grow on her lips.
"I'm not giving you access, and I'm not guiding you through my phone. I don't trust you not to look through that information." Lee began to toss her phone up and down, and she wondered if he was pissed off. Just in case, she moved closer to her room door. He caught the phone again and stared at it a moment before he tossed it over onto her bed, but she didn't move towards it. Another note came her way.
Very well. Can you get rid of that information on there permanently? If so, do so. Then, you can guide me through. She really wished that she was a better liar. Right now, she desperately needed that skill, but she couldn't think for too long. Otherwise, he'd detect that she was bluffing, but was bluffing too risky? What would he do if he saw right through her? (F/n) had to try, though. Worst case scenario, she always could delete other personal information on her phone while he thought that she just was removing her family's information.
"I can't do that. Once it's in, it's locked in." She held her ground and wore the most convincing expression she could muster. Lee stared back at her, and she forced herself to remain as calm as possible. It was hard to do when his expression gave away nothing and constantly remained the same. Barely, she could keep her heart rate steady.
Slowly, he got up. She needed to remain calm. Lee was trying to intimidate her. His creaking steps grew all the nearer, and she resisted the urge to gulp and run. No matter how hard she tried to hide her lie, he could see right through her. Sure, (f/n) was remaining relatively calm, but he saw it in her (e/c) optics. There was very real fear there; she was scared completely that he'd see through her. A smirk formed on his lips. How silly. (F/n) should've known better.
Standing in front of her, he placed his hands in his pockets and leaned down to her eye level. She tried to maintain her composure, but she was falling apart steadily. (F/n) tried to resist trembling, but she couldn't help herself when he just stood there and watched her, especially since he was so close. Her heartbeat no longer was consistent. Rather, it increased its pace. Could he hear it? He probably could, couldn't he?
When one of his hands began to come out of one of the pockets, fear took over. With no more hesitation, she bolted. She didn't run out of her room. Rather, she hopped up onto her bed right before he could grab her wrist. (F/n) had felt the plastic just graze her skin. If she had taken a second longer, he would've had her.
Picking up her phone, she hopped down and stood on the other side. The bed was between them. She held the phone above her head. "I'm not showing you my phone. I just need my laptop to manage the business. I can use Anita's phone, which I doubt you'll look through since you won't be able to get to it unless you reveal yourself to her." Lee placed his other hand back in the pocket. "Drop your curiosity, or I drop this."
Dropping her phone wouldn't break it. She'd have to smash it, and he wondered if she thought she could do that before he reached her. Still, it was an interesting situation. Just what else was on that phone of hers that she so desperately wanted to hide from him? As for (f/n), she didn't want to break her phone, and she could delete what else she wanted to on it, but in her surge of fear, she found herself in this situation. Her adrenaline had pushed her into a circumstance that might spell out even worse consequences for her.
Yet, maybe, it was better. If her phone was gone, she didn't have to worry about him going through it or threatening her at another point for further information. Well, he might force her to tell him what she was hiding from him, but she hoped that he wouldn't. She should've just told him the truth and deleted what she wanted to in the process. Her hand was shaking around the phone, and Lee took a step towards her.
What should she do?! Now, she was panicking again. He took another step towards her, and she wished that she could read him better. She could hear her own heartbeat. Then, he bolted towards her. Out of instinct, a scream left her, and she slammed the phone down. It collided with the ground, but it didn't break. He threw himself towards it, but she did too. Just barely, her hand grabbed it, and she tugged it towards herself.
Quickly, he reached for her. She lifted the phone up and threw it against the wall opposite. Her position wasn't the greatest, so it didn't hit the wall too hard. It remained intact. Lee noticed. He got up, but she picked herself up and tackled him before he could get closer. What was she doing?! At that point, she didn't know. Adrenaline was guiding her. Judgment was out the window. If anyone could read her thoughts at that point in time, they'd just hear a stream of curse words.
Managing to knock him down, she pushed herself up and shoved him down. Barely, she pushed him down, but she got up and went to the phone. His right hand grabbed her ankle and tugged her back. Almost, she lost her balance, but she used the wall to keep herself up. Swiftly, she reached down and retrieved the phone all while he was tugging her back.
After another hard tug, she slipped, but she tossed the phone into the bathroom in the process. Hitting the ground hard, she groaned and heard Lee get up. D*mn it! She saw him walk by as she got up. Again, she went after him. He turned in time. Both of his hands caught her wrists, and he pushed her back. She landed on her bottom on the ground. Lee leaned down to grab the phone, and she managed to throw herself at his ankles. It knocked him back just enough to cause him to crash against the bathroom tiles.
In the process, he dropped the phone. She grabbed it, but he was recovering speedily. It'd take longer to break it than she had time for. Without another thought, she tossed it into the toilet since the lid was open. Water splashed up, and the phone submerged. Besides the sound of her breathing, silence followed.
