Ask to Question
A/N: As usual, I would recommend putting the video on loop.
Silence continued for a little bit longer, and before she even could utter somewhat of a response, she saw another spoonful of stir fry and rice in front of her. (F/n) stared at it for a moment. The spoon moved closer, and a sigh left her. She took the bite before she chewed and stepped away from the counter. If she felt it safe to punch Lee, she would, but he ... wasn't the true problem in that moment. Instead, it was her own doubt.
Sure, his words had brought her doubt to light, but they weren't the root of the issue. They only shed illumination on it. Anita hadn't given her the password to her laptop, and she had pushed her into the situation with Tristan. She hadn't told her that she'd be introducing her to Kaleb, the jerk who she thought Anita was over with. All of this did create a lack of trust, and it hurt horribly, especially since Anita kept pushing her into more uncomfortable situations.
Had she always been like that, though, and she just had turned a blind eye to Anita's behavior? Was Anita simply using her and just acting really well since high school? It was ... terrifying. To think that all along she never really had known her best friend and business partner. But ... No, she wasn't sure of anything yet. Yes, Anita had done those things to her, but her intent truly might not be anything related to betrayal. It might just be Anita getting overly excited and wanting her to accept Kaleb as her boyfriend.
As for Lee, he watched and waited by the food. He didn't want the food to get cold, but he also wanted his questions to sink in, and they clearly were. Her gaze looked distant, and a heavy frown was forming on her lips. Most likely, her thoughts were tugging her towards many facts about Anita's behavior. Anita was a horrible friend. End of story, and he had a feeling that (f/n) already knew that, but she was in heavy denial from ignoring such facts for so long.
When he thought that the silence had served its purpose, he retrieved another spoonful for her and held it out to her. She didn't response, and he sighed. He moved closer to her and tapped the spoon to her lips. That woke her up out of her thoughts, and she nearly knocked the food off of the spoon when she jumped slightly. Her eyes moved to the food, and she reluctantly took another bite. Lee put the spoon back and held out the dish to her.
"I'm really not hungry," she tried to use as an excuse, but he knew otherwise. She knew that she was lying too. Earlier, her stomach even had growled, and a few bites wouldn't satisfy it. He continued to hold the plate out to her, and she eventually took the dish before he signaled for her to follow. Behind him, he heard footsteps. Good.
"You meant to do this, didn't you? It'll be entertaining to you if Anita and I fight, won't it?" She scowled when she saw him nod, and he walked out into the dining room, taking a seat. He motioned to the one across from him, and she reluctantly seated herself. The plate soon was in front of her on the table. Lee had brought paper and a pen with him.
Soon, he slid a note over to her. But, am I wrong? Your silence would indicate otherwise. I think that even you know that she's not the friend you make her out to be. He crossed his arms over his chest, and she really wished that she could see his expression just to wipe it off of his face.
"You're ... I already admitted that I'm beginning to doubt her a bit, but to say that our whole friendship has been a lie ..." She trailed off and somewhat stabbed the spoon into the food before she slowly scooped up some and took a bite. After she swallowed, she continued, "... I just can't. I can't believe that she would do that to me."
Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean that it isn't the truth. But, she clearly has done a good job to keep you in such denial. A bitter chuckle left her, and she ate the next bite angrily. Maybe, he should just go back to scaring her. At least, she wasn't questioning her friend by listening to a creepy, living mannequin, then.
Actually, that was a good point. Why should she let him get into her thoughts? It was his opinion. She didn't have to let it affect her, but then why ... Why were his words impacting her so much? His words wouldn't bother her so much if she didn't believe him at all, but a part of her ... did. Almost, she took another angry bite, but she stopped. "Why am I eating your cooking again?" she muttered out, a scowl on her lips.
Note coming over to her, she rolled her eyes after she read it. Because, you weren't going to eat decently, and you said that it isn't bad. The way you're eating too must mean that you enjoy it. When she went to push the plate away as if to prove him wrong, even if she really had said that, he pointed to the kitchen and made a stabbing motion with his right hand.
"... Fine," she muttered in annoyance. He might not kill her or even injure her, but she didn't want to take the risk. No matter how calm he acted around her, it didn't erase the fact that he was capable of twisted ideas. Everything he had done prior to her confirming him being alive pointed to that. For all she knew, he might cut her and force her to admit that she had tripped and got a nasty wound somehow in the process. She didn't know, and he wouldn't give her too much information on himself that would convince her that he really wouldn't harm her, at least physically.
Or, he might decide to throw everything out the window and attack Anita. She doubted that, but he had so many unknown facets about him. Who was he? What was he truly? How old was he? Where did he come from? Who taught him how to cook? Who was important to him? And, many more questions surrounded him. An answer to any of them would give her a bit more insight into his personality and what he might do in certain situations. All she could go on was what he did presently, and that wasn't too helpful. Sure, he might've cooked her meal tonight, but the next evening he could throw the plate at her and hope the glass pieces cut her skin.
In front of her, another note founds its way there. It's going to get cold. I won't leave until it's done. A sigh left her, and she formed a paper airplane before she threw the note back to him. He caught it with ease, and she wondered if he was smirking.
"What am I? A child?" Lee shrugged and didn't move from his spot. A frown greeted her lips, and she focused on finishing the meal. That way, she could leave and not have him pester her more about Anita and her. The thoughts on the subject were still very present in her mind, but she didn't want him getting into her head any more at the moment. If he never did again, that'd be appreciated too.
Finally finished with the meal, she got up and headed towards the kitchen. He didn't stop her. Instead, he got up a little bit afterwards and opened the kitchen door. She was washing any dishes that couldn't go in the dishwasher. "Are you going to watch me clean up the kitchen? Though, this is your mess." A chuckle parted from him before he stepped into the room. (F/n) froze a bit when he stepped right up next to her, but he left a note for her and left.
You ate it, though. A rough sigh parted from her, and she heard the kitchen door close. Her body finally relaxed a little, and she heard his creaking steps get quieter as he distanced himself from the room. Lee probably was going back on her laptop. He could've stayed longer and messed with her a bit more, but he felt that she had enough to think on for the night. It'd make her more cautious on her dinner date with Tristan, and she might learn something that he couldn't since he wouldn't be there.
Upon his lips was a smirk. Anita should prepare herself. Then again, she might be alright if (f/n) ended up disregarding everything he had told her, which was a possibility, but, hopefully, she would know better since she was beginning truly to doubt Anita's sincerity.
Entering the other dining room, he took a seat back at the table with the laptop. The screen was black, and his brows furrowed. Thankfully when he moved his finger across the touchpad, it came back up from where he had left it. His right fingers tapped against the tabletop as he scanned over the other locations. Nothing too vital came up. There were orders for items from out-of-town markets and hygiene products. He did note that she really liked milk and honey scented items. It wasn't important, but that would explain the milky-looking water that had been in her bath that one night.
Other than that, he found what appeared to be a location for various films? He only knew that because he had recognized some of the titles he had watched in the theaters. There were so many new films since then that it was kind of overwhelming. If he found himself bored, though, he could watch some of the films he had watched all those years ago or try one of the newer titles.
For the moment, he closed down that screen, especially when he found locations that pointed to her having looked into mannequins, hauntings and other such things. An amused smile touched his lips. Cute. Of course, those searches were less in number after the day he had formerly proven to her that he was alive. There still were some here and there, but they wouldn't lead her to the truth. Only he could do that in regards to who he was and what had happened to him.
"So, have you dug through it all?" He had heard her footsteps, and he had been expecting her to say something. A smirk touched his lips, not that she could see it, and he averted his eyes over to her. Lee nodded, and he watched her expression closely. Her lips were downturned in a frown, and she huffed. "Great. Maybe, you can be done with it now."
