In His Honor
Summer, 1967
Reader POV
A small dent in the box Abraxas handed to me told me enough. He and I met in secret away from the prying eyes of my husband. "My father told me to give this to you, a historian recently found it in the highlands of Scotland, it has the name Livingston on it. As of right now, you are the sole survivor of House Livingston as Preston perished."
I nodded. "Thank you, Abraxas." I knew my husband's little trick with the Gaunt ring. He had charmed it so I couldn't take it off, but he never protected it against his own bloodline. As such, I had Pollux easily take it off me and it was lying at the bottom of the sea somewhere. But before I could apparate out, he grabbed my arm.
"Come with me," he said desperately. "Your husband is going to attack the Order. He knows I'm meeting you and urged me to bring you back. He won't harm you or your children. Just come back to him."
I chuckled dryly. "The fact he had to say that was all I needed. He knows that I view him as a monster and that's all the satisfaction I need."
"But you love him. He loves you unconditionally, (nickname)-"
At the mention of my nickname, the one my father and brother called, I aimed a spell and he was sent flying across the cave where we were. "Don't you dare call me that, you have no right. He chose his side and proved his obsession when he stole my memories and twisted my mind so much to do the unbreakable vow."
"Then you know he loves you, otherwise he would be dying."
"I could care less what happens to him." I didn't tell Abraxas, but Philip removed the unbreakable vow off me, instead changing the very properties of it to pass onto my children. Meaning the vow was very much intact, but not with Voldemort, instead with our children who were his very blood. Lord Voldemort was dying, but he never noticed. If the unbreakable vow happened to be broken, he would've immediately felt a force of pain so great he would've felt his heart breaking into millions of pieces and saw his arm burning at the marks of the broken vow as a hideous scar.
"But the fact still stands that you still love him. Otherwise you would be dead. And if he didn't love you, he would be dead." Abraxas slowly got up. "I will pass along his message to you. He tells you to meet him at the place where this all started in three day's time, otherwise he will kill more innocent muggles." And he left.
I went back to the protection of the Weasley home and opened the box, knowing that it was something Philip told me he would do. Inside the box was a locket, the one I had crafted in my childhood for Philip. He must've enchanted it to have it survive as many centuries as he went back, it was our signal to each other that he survived and completed his mission successfully.
All that was left to do was to confront Voldemort. I was taken out of my thoughts by the pounding of little feet against the hardwood floors.
"Mummy?" I opened the door and saw Caelum standing outside with his older brothers and sister. "Where's Daddy? I keep hearing things about him and I've never met him."
My older boys looked at each other. Though they were still only children, they were nearing their 14th birthday and knew all too well the things their father has done due to conversations they overheard. Even little Victor was almost ten, and he would be going to Hogwarts very soon. They had been trying their best to keep their younger brother from asking too many questions, but they too were children.
I picked Victor up and closed the door, Castor and Pollux sitting on my bed. I set Victor down and allowed the twins to hold their younger twin siblings Caelum and Daphne. We were content, listening to the toddlers giggle and stare at their older brothers with fascination. I wanted to freeze this moment forever, knowing fully well whatever I decided to do was going to change the future.
"Mummy, why isn't Daddy here with us?" Caelum repeated. Though all the other children looked like Tom or myself, Victor was the only one who looked just like my brother. I felt a strong sense of sadness whenever I looked into Victor's purple-blue eyes. Daphne looked just like me, and Caelum looked exactly like Pollux. They looked like tiny versions of their father, the one I had loved and missed for so long.
The twins ^^ (Yes ik one looks a lot older, just go with it ig)
Victor ^^
I took the toddlers out of the arms of their older brothers and hugged all of my children. "You know I love you very much, right?"
"Yes! You're the best Mummy ever! And Daddy loves us, he tells us every night when you tuck us in." Victor said.
Daphne and Caelum had never met their father, and it was only natural they were curious about him.
I squeezed the five of them tightly and held their hands in a kind of circle, to show the unity of our family. "Your father was a man of great character, someone who I greatly admired and even aspired to be at times. He was fearless and always there for his friends, one of the best wizards and potion makers I ever know, aside from your Uncle Philip."
"Okay? But where is he?" Daphne demanded. Being the only girl, she was always treated like a little princess and I knew just how much she had everyone wrapped around her little pinky, and I found it adorable.
"Be patient, my sweet." I shared a look with the older boys, knowing that their younger siblings vision of the perfect father was about to be ruined forever and they would be carrying a heavy weight. "You must've heard things from your cousins, hm?"
"They told me Daddy is evil and a monster."
I cringed, knowing that it was most likely Molly Prewett, Arthur Weasley, and James Potter telling my three youngest. It had been years since we escaped, but I knew very well Tom was watching our every move. The older boys faced constant bullying at Hogwarts, though that was put to a stop as soon as I found out. Being the head of a house sure had its perks.
"Your father used to be a wonderful man. I was proud to be married to him," I said with honesty. "He was someone I deeply loved and despite everything he did, I know in his own way he loved me back. But that does not define you boys."
"Your father is no longer the man he used to be, but he still loves you. Others will try to bully you because you are the sons of Lord Voldemort, but you must not ever forget you come from two other powerful houses; the of House of Livingston and the House of Malfoy. Your mother is one of the most powerful witches, your ancestor is Merlin himself. You are your father's sons, but you are your mother's greatest pride." I hugged them close, feeling wet stains on my shirt alerting me that one if not all my children were crying.
"But is it true?" Daphne whispered. "Is our Daddy really the one killing all those muggles like we saw on the Daily Prophet?"
"Yes." I couldn't lie to her and immediately held the two youngest close to me. "You never knew your father, the night before you were born, we left." Though they deserved to know the entire truth, they were still children above all. I would tell them the full truth when they were much older.
"But he is evil. Why did you marry him?" Caelum asked.
"I loved him. I didn't understand fully what he was doing at the time I married and had you," I said with honesty. "He has done many things, told many lies. But he never lied about loving me and loving you. You will be taunted and teased for your bloodline, but I will never let anything happen to you." I stared at each of them, especially Pollux and Castor who took the majority of responsibility to their younger siblings as well as pride of the family. "You are all my children and you will become the greatest witches and wizards the world has seen. Your own mother is. I will protect you from as much as I can, okay?"
I held out two pinky fingers. "But you need to promise me you won't go looking for him. You must promise to protect each other and hold each other accountable for your actions. You are my greatest pride, all of you. I am confident that once you show yourselves to the world as yourselves and not as the children of Lord Voldemort, they will begin to trust you."
"It's true," Castor gave his younger siblings a look of love. "I'm in Ravenclaw, they all hated me at first but once I showed them I'm not the man in the news, they started trusting me. It will take time, but it is worth it."
I looked outside at the dark sky, knowing that my time with my children was slowly running out. Sooner or later Voldemort would strike and I would have to kill him. It was the only way to save the world, and I didn't want it to befall on Harry Potter's shoulders. My great-nephew wasn't even born yet, but I wanted him to be safe.
It was only a matter of time before I would make my move. In three days time, to be exact. He would pay for what he did. I had spent the last seven years getting even stronger and using the elder wand in secret as another one, the fake one my brother crafted, was somewhere in the world.
Time would tell just how much we had changed and succumbed to our greatest fears and our greatest strengths.
