*A month later*
*1/25/18*

Kyle was sleeping at home, enjoying the fact he had the day off at the PC for a change since the next Takeover was coming up next day and everyone in charge was leaving for Philadelphia, when his phone started ringing. He then  saw the screen

Kyle's mind: Unknown number? The hell? - he then picked up the call

Kyle: Kyle Matthews, who's this?

?: Hi Kyle, this is Hunter speaking

Kyle: Holy sh..! Sorry I just didn't expect this, what's to offer?

Hunter: *chuckles* Don't worry it's all good. As you might know we usually tape the episode post Takeover before the actual show......

Kyle: So you want me to be there? Oh sorry I just got excited didn't mean to cut you off, sir - he felt a cold sweat down his neck

Hunter: *chuckles* Kyle relax everything is fine you don't have to call me sir just call me Hunter. Yes we want you here for the tapings. Congrats kid, you're making your NXT debut

Kyle was just awestruck. He just couldn't find anything to say as the shock got him

Hunter: Hello? Anyone there?

Kyle: Oh yeah! Yeah, I'll be there *whispering* oh my God. Bye Hunter!

Hunter: Bye kid

They hung up and Kyle quickly got out of bed and took off running and jumping around

Kyle: I'M GOING TO TAKEOVER. YES! - He swung his fist in celebration and ended up alerting both of his dogs, which came in alerted by the noise and both laid there tummy up asking to be petted

Kyle: You heard that guys? I'm so happy! - he started rubbing both Huff and Puff's tummies as the dogs started playing with each other

Kyle: I gotta get someone to take care of you two.... - he started thinking about who could it be but couldn't come up with an answer. He then decided to text Candice

Kyle: Candice
Pixie: Hi!
Pixie: Everything good?
Kyle: Yeah
Kyle: Hunter told me I'm scheduled for the post Takeover tapings
Pixie: Awesome!
Pixie: You need anything?
Kyle: Actually yes. Can you take care of my dogs just two days?
Pixie: I am actually going to Philly myself
Kyle: Accompanying Johnny?
Pixie: Not exactly 😏
Kyle: Colour me interested, but I still need to leave Huff and Puff somewhere
Kyle: You know anyone who's staying?
Pixie: I know Dakota and Tegan are staying here, you can ask them
Kyle: Oh! Okay
Kyle: Thanks!
Pixie: 😃

Kyle then started looking for plane tickets to Philadelphia and right after that he decided to call Tegan

*With Tegan*
Tegan had gotten up not long ago, since she and Dakota spent most of the night gaming. Tegan was already in the kitchen making breakfast when her phone rang

Tegan: Kota!

Dakota: Hmmm, what?

Tegan: Can you pass me my phone?

Dakota: Uhhh i wonder who that is - she teased and unlocked the phone to see Kyle was calling

Dakota: It's Kyle - she picked up - Hello?

Tegan: No no no! Give me the phone! - she tried to reach for it but Dakota stopped

Kyle: Kota?

Dakota: King Kota for you *giggles*

Kyle: *giggles* Fine, is Tegan there, King?

Tegan: Give me my phone!

Dakota: Ummm, nope. What do you want to tell her?

Kyle: I need to ask her something, and give her her phone I can hear the screaming from here

Tegan: Gotcha!

Dakota: Fine you win. Tegan your crush is on the phone

Tegan: Dakota! - she slapped her in the arm

Kyle's mind: She's kidding right?

Kyle: Sup there?

Tegan: Hi! Sorry bout that, Dakota loves to pester me when she has the chance

Kyle: Just what best friends do. Hey, are you in town this weekend?

Tegan: Yeah, why?

Kyle: Hunter called me for the post Takeover tapings in Philly, I'm debuting!

Tegan: Neat! Congrats lo... Lad, I meant lad - she blushed and Dakota couldn't help but laugh at her expense

Kyle: I need to ask you, can you do me a favor?

Tegan: Sure! What is it?

Kyle: I need someone to take care of my dogs, I tried everywhere but nobody can, can I count on you?

Tegan: Count with me mate

Kyle: Oh thanks Tegs you're awesome! - his comment made her blush - I'll be there in a few hours if that's fine

Tegan: Perfect! Late mate!

Kyle: *chuckles* Late mate - they hung up and Tegan noticed Dakota glaring at her

Tegan: What?

Dakota: You almost said love there I heard ya. Just admit you like the guy it's not the end of the world!

Tegan: I don't know okay? I mean I think he's a good guy and a friend but what if he sees me as just that?

Dakota: I have my reasons to think that's not the case..... - she teased

Tegan: And I have mine to be careful with this. Don't do anything

Dakota: Won't make promises that I can't keep - she shrugged as Tegan stared a dagger on her

*Two hours later*
Kyle made it to the front door of the girls house with both of his dogs and before ringing the doorbell he got down and talked to them

Kyle: Listen to me you adorable bastards, I'm going to be out a few days so you're staying here. Be nice to Tegan and Dakota and don't break anything you heard me? - he got happy barks as an answer as one of the puppies started jumping to his leg

Tegan: I think they heard ya - she surprised him from behind

Kyle: Hi! - they hugged - how're you doing?

Tegan: Pretty well, but what about you you're getting your debut!

Kyle: It still feels..... Woah - he did the mind-blown motion and Tegan ended up laughing

Tegan: You'll be great you been busting yo ass there is nothing to worry about - at that point Dakota showed up doing kiss sounds

Kyle: King!

Dakota: What's up? This are your boys right?

Kyle: Yep. Huff and Puff - both puppies laid tummy up on the feet of the girls while shaking their tails

Tegan/Dakota: Awwwww - they immediately started playing with them

Tegan: Why the names tho?

Kyle: Just waiting until the morning, they'll show you how

Dakota: Doggy alarm clocks?

Kyle: *giggles* Pretty accurate description

Tegan: I guess I can leave my alarm off then *Giggles* Hey, wanna come in? - Dakota left doing kissing sounds with her mouth

Tegan: Shut up!

Dakota: Never!

Kyle: *chuckles* What's with her?

Tegan: Oh just ignore that, just Kota pestering around. Hey, wanna come in?

Kyle: I'd love to but I have to pack, Johnny is coming by to pick me up in like 2 hours and I haven't started shit

Tegan: Better run then. Don't worry your pup's will be fine here! - she petted the two dogs

Kyle: You promise me you will be nice  with Tegan guys? - the dogs ran into the house full speed

Tegan: *Giggles* They'll be fine. See ya! - they hugged before Kyle left

Two days later
Philadelphia, PA
Kyle made it to the Wells Fargo Center early that afternoon as he was so thrilled about the opportunity he was getting. As show time was getting closer and closer the nerves started to grow, and he decided to go to the stage before everything got started. He sat on the ramp and contemplated the setup for the show in awe. As he was deep on his thoughts he heard a voice behind him

Johnny: Pretty dope isn't it?

Kyle: Yeah, I have to ask you something

Johnny: Sure fire away

Kyle: When we were beating the shit out of each other in Dragon Gate, you ever thought this would come? I know I didn't

Johnny: Honestly? Not a chance. I get what you're saying this is probably your biggest night so far, but having been on your spot all I can say is relax and try to enjoy it

Kyle: Easy to say for you, you're not about to explode. I don't know how you do it, if I was main eventing a Takeover I'd probably shit my pants

Johnny: *chuckles* Yeah me too, a bit, but for now relax bud, come on let's get something from catering. Heard there's pudding

They got backstage but before they could do anything Triple H ended up calling Kyle aside

Hunter: Matthews!

Kyle: Boss calls, see you later - he said to Johnny and went to Hunter

Kyle: Hi boss, everything good? - they shook hands

Hunter: Yeah, you know you don't have to call me that right?

Kyle: Oh yeah sorry, what can I help with?

Hunter: I wanted to talk the details of your debut with you of you can

Kyle: Sure! Here or we go somewhere - he started nervously bouncing

Hunter: Here's good, and calm down kid, save that excitement for the ring

Kyle: Roger that! - he saluted

Hunter: Great. You're making your debut against the Velveteen Dream

Kyle: Oh, okay, that's it? Entrance, music any of that?

Hunter: Not for tonight, we want to give the fans a surprise, you'll start off as a perfect unknown for the crowd. You'll get music when you're in the Full Sail tapings.....

Kyle: Great! Oh sorry didn't want to interrupt - he blushed - do I get to keep my Indies theme?

Hunter: We're working on that, what was the name again?

Kyle: The Bomb dot com 2.0 by Sleeping with Sirens

Hunter: Oh yeah! We're working on that, but for now until we deal with that we decided to give you a placeholder

Kyle: Oh - he seemed pretty bummed about it - is there any chance I can hear it? Just so I know what I'm getting

Hunter: And? What do you think?

Kyle: Not bad at all! If you don't get the rights to my indy theme can I keep this one?

Hunter: That's the plan, glad you liked it. Good luck tonight!

*A few hours later*
The first Pre-show match had already come and go, and now it was time for Kyle's debut. He was already in gear and getting prepared to go out when he ran into the Undisputed Era

Adam: Hey, watch yo step! - he joked

Kyle: Sorry ma'am

Adam: Relax it was just a joke. You're up next?

Kyle: Yep. I'm about to explode

Adam: I feel you. Want to leave a good first impression right?

Kyle: Indeed

Adam: Then be laser focused on what you have to do and you'll be more than fine, who are you facing?

Kyle: Velveteen Dream

Adam: Yeesh, good luck with that. But don't worry, just try to enjoy the moment

Kyle: Okay. Gotta go, see you later! - he crossed the curtain and walked down the aisle

Dream entered to cheers from the crowd and made his extravagant entrance down the ramp. Kayla Braxton announced him and Dream quickly took the mic off her

Dream: Thank you Kayla but I think everyone knows who the Dream is - the crowd popped for him

Dream: But the Dream wants to know, who the hell are you? - Kyle then rolled his eyes and snatched away the mic

Crowd: OHHHHHH

Kyle: Oh yeah Dream my bad where are my modals. My name is Kyle Matthews, and I'm going to whoop your ass - he then slapped Dream, making the crowd heat up

*Beginning of the match*
Dream charged right after Kyle, backing him into the corner before surprising the President of Kick Country with a Splash and a series of punches in the corner as the crowd counted along. Dream then girated his hips and that was it for Kyle, who swept his opponent's legs and made him eat the turnbuckle and tried to go for a suplex but Dream landed on his feet and girated his hips, to which Kyle answered by throwing a "Suck It" at Dream. This enraged him as he tried to go after Kyle in the corner again, but he was prepared this time as he intercepted Dream with a dropkick to the knees followed by a hesitation dropkick in the corner. Kyle lifted Dream up and tried to whip him into the corner but got countered. However, Kyle managed to surprise Dream by using his momentum to box jump to the top rope and backflip over Dream who ended up crashing shoulder first in the ring post. Kyle then sat in the mat and looked at the surprised Dream with a goofy smile on his face and shrugged, earning a pop from the crowd

- Kyle hit a kip up Pele Kick
- Kyle hit a Tope con Giro to the outside
- Dream hit a spinebuster
- Dream hit a Superplex
- Dream hit a Tornado DDT
- Dream hit a scoop slam
- Kyle hit a step up Enzuguri
- Kyle hit a Butterfly effect for a near fall

*13 minutes into the match*
Dream had Kyle under control, he had countered a Moonsault attempt by blocking it with the knees and caught him with a Superkick.

Kyle was still in it and Dream was clearly upset about it. He picked up the Prez and tried to go for a Purple Rainmaker but took too much time, as Matthews blocked him and hit the Butterfly Effect for the cover

Now it was Kyle who couldn't believe it. He went to the corner and waited for Dream to start to get up
Kyle: COME ON! - he then went for the Good Night Kiss but Dream countered and got him up on his shoulders and ready for a Dream Valley Driver. Dream went for it but once they hit the mat Kyle countered into a crucifix pin

Kayla Braxton: Here's your winner. Kyle Matthews!!!

The crowd exploded in cheers as the upset shocked everyone in the arena. Both Kyle and Dream laid on the mat frozen for a second but the "rookie" knew what was coming and fleed out of the ring before Velveteen Dream couldn't attack him. Kyle then leaned on the barricade exhausted as the fans near him started patting him and he just rolled with it before leaving

*Backstage*
Kyle made it back and was immediately met by Hunter

Hunter: Great job kiddo - he pulled Kyle closer for a hug - get ready for tapings, you'll be on TV starting next set

Kyle: Holy shit thanks! - he then saw Dream make his way to the back

Kyle: Hey! Hell of a match - he offered a handshake but Dream stormed past him and Triple H

Kyle: The fuck is his problem?

Hunter: Don't mind it he must be angry. Now go get some rest, you deserve it - he patted Kyle in the back as the latter hit the showers

*40 minutes later*
Kyle went out of the locker room and into catering, where he watched the start of the show as Adam Cole and the Undisputed Era came by

Adam: And? What did I tell you?

Kyle: Hate to admit it, but you were right - he earned a light shove from Adam for his troubles

KOR (Kyle O'Reilly): Gotta admit, thought you were getting squashed out there, you fooled us all

Kyle: Yay it worked! Man I'm so sore - he chuckled and rubbed his shoulder

Bobby: You put on some ice? Do it or you'll be hating your body for a few days by the look of it

Kyle: Yeah I really should, but you need a trailer to get me out of here. I don't want to move - he sunk even more in the chair before unlocking his phone and starting to text

Adam: Who are you texting? Your momma?

Kyle: No..... Well fine yes but that's not the only woman I'm talking too

KOR: Any hot babes? - he mocked

Kyle: I mean, if Tegan is in your description of hot then I guess yes

Bobby: Well done! You're on something with her?

Kyle: *sighs* I don't know, I mean we're just friends but being honest I do like her

Adam: Awww you're in love - he mocked

Kyle: I'd punch you but you're probably right. The thing is I don't know how she feels and I don't want to make things awkward

Adam: You'll never know if you never try. Look at me and Britt for example, but don't be too direct. My point is you'll have to risk it eventually or else you may lose your train. In the worst case she says no and you're back to where you are now, but I have a good feeling that won't happen

Kyle: Let God hear that - he sighed as the Undisputed Era left him alone again. He then saw a photo he was tagged in and decided to repost it
