Kyle made it to the campus and started walking towards the locker room when he felt a hand on his shoulder

?: Word is this is your last day on campus then? - Kyle turned around to see none other than Keith Lee

Kyle: Sup Keith? - he hugged the big guy - yeah I'm taking a hiatus, getting written off today

Keith: I see, may I ask what is wrong? If I can know

Kyle: Nothing wrong with me per say, just what with happened to Tegan and her leaving......

Keith: You're following suit?

Kyle: Wait how did you know? Are you some sort of mystical entity? U wouldn't be that surprised being honest

Keith: *chuckles* No but I wish. I just can imagine what you're feeling now, I'd be the same if something happened to Mia, what are you doing tonight?

Kyle: Actually I talked about it when discussing my hiatus with Hunter....

*Flashback to after Brooklyn 4*

Kyle: Can I come in?

Hunter: Sure! What's up kid?

Kyle: *deep breath* I'd like to take a hiatus - his words seemingly shocked Hunter

Hunter: What? Why?

Kyle: I feel it's the best I can do right now being completely honest.....

Hunter: You remember the plans right? - he inadvertently cut Kyle off - sorry go on

Kyle: Yeah I do. I get to be in Wargames with Rico and the War Raiders, then win the North American at Phoenix

Hunter: Indeed, why you want to take time off then?

Kyle: I know it might come out of nowhere but with Tegan leaving I just.... I just want to be with her, I think she needs me more than NXT needs me right now

Hunter: I get it kid, now let's plan how to write you off

Kyle: I have an idea if you don't mind

Hunter: I'm all ears

Kyle: Rico has a title celebration on TV, I confront him, ask for one last match since I didn't get pinned and he wins

Hunter: I like it, but just so we're clear this means you won't get the belt as we had planned you're aware of that?

Kyle: Yes sir

Hunter: So you're going to Wales then?

Kyle: That is the idea

Hunter: You know for how long?

Kyle: I don't know exactly, but around 2 months

Hunter: You've worked in the British scene in the past, right?

Kyle: True, I know most of the guys in NXT UK, I'm cool with Pete, Tyler, Trent, Mandrews and Flash for starters

Hunter: I have an idea for you, NXT UK is having their first tapings in 3 weeks and we could really use another guy fans are familiar with on the show, would you be interested in being part of them?

Kyle: Sounds like a great plan for me, thank you so much Pops

Hunter: *chuckles* You're welcome. We're going to miss you kiddo

Kyle: I'm going to miss this too

*End of flashback*

Kyle finished telling Keith the story of how things went and Keith just remained there in silence for a few seconds before saying anything

Keith: Seems like you have your mind made up, if this is what you want go for it

Kyle: I really do. Thanks man, I'll miss y'all - he bro hugged with Keith before entering the locker room

*An hour later*
*In the ring*

The North American Champion made his way down the aisle with his newly won title on his waist and a proud smile on his face as he entered the ring and got a microphone

Ricochet: Ladies and Gentlemen beautiful people of Full Sail I think you know me by now but after Saturday I think I need to reintroduce myself. My name is Ricochet, you can also call me the one and only, you can call me the real life Superhero BUT, and this is the part I wanted to get to, you can now call me your new NXT North American Champion! - he raised his title with a smile on his face

Ricochet: Now let me be real honest with all of you, last Saturday was tough, REAL tough, Adam, Kyle, both phenomenal competitors, arguably the best match of the night. But when it mattered the most I was at the right place, at the right time and in the end that's why I have this baby right here.....

The crowd cheered again as Kyle showed up on the ramp with a microphone

Kyle: You're right man. You're right, give it up for your new North American Champion, Ricochet! - the crowd cheered as Ricochet looked confused

Kyle: True you were at the right place at the right time, BUT, I think we're forgetting a small detail of who put Adam on a Silver platter for you to finish, and what's even funnier is if my memory is not failing me, that Panama Sunrise on the stairs SUCKED so it may have messed a bit with my head, but I don't recall being pinned in the finish of the match...... - before he could continue Ricochet cut him off

Ricochet: Hold up hold up, I know where you're going, and reality is, even if you are right in what you're saying, you just had an opportunity for this, and lost, in fact this was both of us second shot, don't forget New Orleans either, and the same happened. You could have won, you did something unnecessary that blew up in your face and someone else did. Where I'm going here is, you've had your chance, it's time for others to have theirs and maybe later we can fight it out if I'm still Champion

Kyle: *sighs* Look, I'm not going to sit here and try to deny anything you just said even if I could, we don't have all day so let me make this short and sweet. Give me just one match for that title, I've never had that chance and if there's a man holding that belt right now you Completely understand where I'm coming from

Ricochet: Fine. You get one more shot for this next week, but you promise this is it

Kyle: If I can't win that Championship, then I don't know what the hell I'm doing here. See ya next week Rico - he dropped the mic and left as his music hit again

*30 minutes later*
After a couple of other segments took place it was time for the North American Championship

Ricochet made his entrance, now in gear, slid into the ring and did his signature backflip before showing his belt to the fans

Kyle made his way to the ring with a look full of determination as he cupped his hand on his ear while standing on the stairs, entering the ring, hyping the crowd and staring Ricochet having a staredown with Ricochet before the introductions were made and the match started

*End of the match*
Ricochet had Kyle right where he wanted him as he had hit the Prez with a Superkick and went to the middle rope and tried to hit a Recoil once Kyle got up. But Matthews caught Ricochet, turned around and hit a Steenalizer on the Champion before crawling to the other corner and running back with a Shotgun Dropkick, making Ricochet collapse in the corner, then running back and hitting a Senton in the corner followed by a Moonsault

Kyle punched the mat in frustration and as soon as he did the lights blacked out

Crowd: OHHHHHH

When the lights came back on the ref was down and the North American Championship on the apron. Kyle then grabbed the belt as Ricochet stood up and was about to use it......

Kyle: *sighs* Not today - he dropped the belt and turned around but was surprised by a Recoil!

Kayla: Here's your winner, and still the NXT North American Champion: Ricochet! - Ricochet celebrated as he was given his title, unbeknownst to what had happened, and celebrated with it before leaving

Kyle then sat up, with a mix of frustration and relief, knowing the opportunity he had let go but glad he didn't step down to win it and watched as the fans gave him an ovation as he held back tears

Crowd: You're a good boy! *Clap clap clap* You're a good boy! *Clap clap clap*

Kyle couldn't hold back a little smile from his face at the chant before limping up the ramp and taking one last look at the fans before leaving

*A week later*
*Kyle's apartment*
The weekly episode of NXT was airing and Kyle decided to watch it as his title match with Ricochet aired

Kyle: We really did a damn good job there he got a bag of Doritos and started eating as his phone rang

Tegan wants to FaceTime

Kyle immediately picked up and saw his girlfriend in her Wales appartment living room

Tegan: Hi luv!

Kyle: Hi! Long time no see, how's everything going?

Tegan: Everything is pretty neat being honest. My family is so big and so loud but I missed them so much

Kyle: And do you miss me? - he teased

Tegan: Of course I do. I wish you were here, not having my Panda sucks! - a cute pout appeared on her face

Kyle's mind: You just wait

Kyle: Awwww. I miss you too love, but we'll see in the future, k just hope it's not that far from now

Tegan: I'll be back I promise you, I can't wait to see you and give you the biggest hug I can possibly give someone

Kyle's mind: Lucky you you might not have to wait for long

Kyle: That's a two way street love. I promise you, whenever we see again I have a fuck ton of love to give you

Tegan: *giggles* How sweet! In other news I watched your match tonight

Kyle: You did? Isn't it like 2 AM over there?

Tegan: 1 AM, but Dakota told me it was out of this world and I got intrigued. Safe to say I need a kip now, but what's next for you?

Kyle: Oh shoot I forgot, I have to make a tweet about it, you'll see what's next for me, but for now you go get some sleep!

Tegan: *giggles* Okay ma'am. Good night love - she blew a kiss

Kyle: Night. Love ya - he hung up and went on to Twitter

*3 AM*
Kyle had been pretty much absent from social media ever since his match with Ricochet aired, selling his mental state, when he decided to break the silence and post a photo of his days in PROGRESS with a description tag

@prezkmatt: 🇬🇧

He then got a bunch of replies to his tweet and a message from Tegan

Tegan: Isn't it a bit late for you to be up at this time? Go to bed

Kyle: I wish I could

Tegan: ?

Kyle: I think a video chat solves this better

Kyle wants to FaceTime

Tegan picked up and saw hee boyfriend in a place that clearly wasn't his appartment

Tegan: *yawns* Hi love

Kyle: *yawns* Hi for you too

Tegan: Where in the bloody heck are you? That's not your home

Kyle: Well.....  Remember when I said I wanted to see you? - Tegan accidentally let out a happy squeal

Tegan: Oh my! You really? - before she could finish Kyle showed her his plane ticket

Kyle: I am indeed - he smiled, knowing what the reaction from her would be

Tegan: Oh my God! - she was in pure shock as she didn't expect it at all

Kyle: *giggles* Is that all you're going to say? - he teased

Tegan: Uhh... Oh...... I love you so much! - she couldn't stop smiling

Kyle: I wanted it to be a complete surprise but realized I have no one to pick me up, so that kinda screwed me up - he shrugged with a sheepish smile

Tegan: *giggles* Ya doofus. What time do you arrive over here?

Kyle: It's 3 AM here so what would be 1 PM Eastern there? 5 PM right?

Tegan: Almost. 6 PM but I'll be sure to pick you up, I still can't believe it I'm so chuffed!

Kyle's mind: Awwwww, what a cutie

Kyle: I'm just as happy as you love

Tegan: No you can't be, I'm happier! - she joked and made Kyle giggles

Kyle: Okay fine - he then heard the boarding call - I've got to go, love you - he blew a kiss before hanging up and going to the queue

11 Hours later
Cardiff, Wales
Tegan made it to the arrivals door and started getting on her tippy toes to try and find Kyle to no avail. A few minutes later she found him and once he got out he heard a shout

Tegan: Kyle! Over here! - she started waving her arms and Kyle rushed to her before they embraced in a big hug

Tegan: I can't believe you're here!

Kyle: I'm here! - he started giving her many little kisses while hugging her tight

Tegan: I missed you so much! C'mon there's a lot I want to show you

Kyle: Sure, but let's take a photo just to remember this - they took a selfie and he posted it
