Paying for a motel room with cash, I exit the main office and see Dom leaning against his car. I dangle the key on my pointer finger as I meet him at the room's door.

"This is the first place I thought of, and I figured we'd both be exhausted too." I unlock the door and motion for Dom to enter first. Shutting the door behind me, I make sure the lock is in place before turning to face him. "Plus, this same motel is where we crashed that one night after a drunken high school night out when we couldn't get home." A soft laugh escapes as I think of that night—when everyone was still here, and we didn't have to worry about what the next day holds.

"How could I forget." Dom sits at the side of the bed, watching as I shed the leather jacket and place it on the tan colored chair sitting in the corner by the headlamp.

Playing with my fingers, I sit down on the chair and one knee brushes against Dom's. "I'm sorry," I start, looking from my lap to Dom. "I've been stubborn with dealing with what happened, and how I didn't want to talk it out and hear your side of things. I was hurting though because I thought you wouldn't be the person to leave me."

"I did it to protect you."

Nodding my head, I give him a sad smile as tears burn the back of my eyes. "I know. Mia told me why you may have left, but I couldn't except it—at least back then. I think it's because I told you the night before that I didn't care, and I would've went with you." Letting out a sigh, I get up from the chair and sit next to Dom on the bed. "But I understand now. I wish we would've talked more before you left, but that's in the past. So much as happened since then, and I miss you. I'm not going to let my stubbornness get in the way of my happiness."

Dom reaches out, cupping my cheek, and I lean into the touch. "Thank you. I love you Alexis. I don't want to put you in harm's way, but even when I tried you always end up in some sort of trouble."

"Stop trying to push me into a life where I'll be living a white picket fence life. That's not me." Leaning forward, Dom drops his hand that's caressing my cheek and I place my hands on the tops of his shoulder so I'm able to hoist myself onto his lap. His hands rest on my hips as I wrap my arms around his neck once I'm settled. "As you said, I'm eighty percent devil. Something about this life attracts me," I say, smirking down at him.

Then Letty's face flashes in my mind for a split moment and the corners of my mouth fall. I can register the moment Dom notices the shift in my behavior by the way his eyebrows furrow and his eyes widen slightly. Shaking my head, I purse my lips together. My hands move along the back of Dom's head before cupping his face.

"I miss her," I mumble, my eyes focusing on Dom's nose and lips instead of his gaze, so I don't have to read the sadness within them. I know he misses her too. Sighing, I close my eyes and rest my forehead against his. "I'm tired. Physically and emotionally."

His hand runs up and down my back. "Get some rest."

"I'm going to shower first." Leaning back, I kiss his cheek.

Locking the door behind me, I strip and turn the knob for the shower. Cool water chills the skin of my hand. Reaching up, I adjust the showerhead so it's spraying further out as I turn the cool temperature to warm. Before I step in, I take Letty's bracelet off and set it on the sink.

Warm water glides down my skin and dampens my hair. Turning my back to the showerhead, I tilt my head back and run my fingers through the strains. I take some of the shampoo that was provided and rise my hair of it. Once the washing is done and the hot water starts to turn tepid, I turn the knob to off and step out of the shower.

I wrap a towel around my body once I dried my hair the best I could. Unlocking the door, I step to see an empty room. My heart stops for a moment as I walk to the window. I pull back the white, slightly stained, curtain back a little to see Dom's car gone. Cursing, I let the curtain fall back into place. My hands rubs at the skin where my heart lies underneath as a slight ache forms there.

I walk back to the bathroom and clasp Letty's bracelet back around my wrist. My eyes lift to my reflection as I see a lone tear travel down my cheek. Whipping it away, I kneel to start collecting my clothes when I hear the door open. Eyelashes lift, and I hesitate.

"Alexis?"

Standing, I fill the doorway of the bathroom as I see Dom lock the door with clothes in his hand. My hands curl around the edge of the towel to make sure it holds in place. Dom pockets the motel key as he strides towards where I'm standing.

He holds out a pair of jeans and a shirt. "Mia gave me some clothes for you."

"Thank you."

Taking them with one hand, I shut the door to the bathroom. Letting out a sigh, my heart starts to lull into a normal rhythm once more. I place the towel on the floor beside the shower and dress with the new clothes. I finish gathering my dirty ones and fold them. Exiting the bathroom, I set the clothes on the chair I sat in earlier.

"I got you some water and snacks. It's late, but you drank quite a lot tonight."

Letting out a laugh, I sit on the bed and rest my back against the headboard. Dom joins me and hands me a water and a bag full of chips. He sheds his shirt, placing at the foot of the bed and my eyes take in my fill. When he begins with his jeans, I look to my lap and decides it's best to open the chips. I get a mouth full of chips by the time Dom joins me on the bed.

"Thank you, again."

I lean my head against his shoulder and eat my chips as he turns on the small television. Not paying attention to whatever's on the screen, I take note on his hand on my jean clad thigh as his thumb mindlessly rubs against the material. Dom takes a couple chips when I offer, and places the empty bag once I'm done on the bedside table next to the clock with the red numbers. It's almost close to one in the morning, and I know it's best if we get some sleep.

Unscrewing the water bottle cap, I drink a good amount of the cool liquid before placing it on the ground beside the bed. When I stand, I can feel Dom's gaze on me, but I don't look up as I undo the jean button and drag the material down my legs. Once I step out of them, I hang them over the arm of the chair next to where the clothes I wore tonight are.

Pulling back the comforter, I get under the covers. When my thigh caress Dom's, a shiver runs down my spine. Dom turns off the television and the lamp on the beside table as he rests his head against a pillow as I do the same. He hand finds my thigh again under the covers as his other hand rests on his stomach. Turning on my side, he moves his hand from my thigh so it's wrapped around me so I'm able to rest my head on his shoulder and my hand on his chest.

My pointer finger that's resting on his chest starts to trace imaginary designs on his skin. Leaning my head back, I can see Dom looking down at me. "I'm happy you're back, but if you pull what you did again without explaining, I'll kick your ass."

The corners of Dom's lips curve up as he pulls me on top of him. His hands rest on my hips as my knees are on each side of his. "I'm not going anywhere."

Closing my eyes, I take in his words for a brief moment before opening them once more. "I love you," I say as one of my hands cup his face and my thumb caresses his stubbled cheek.

Before he can respond, I lower my head and kiss him. My body reacts almost instantly. Dom tilts his head a little as he deepens the kiss. I feel one of his arms wrap around me as the other hand moves to cup my bottom. Letting out a satisfied moan, I soon find myself being flipped. A gasp leaves me lips as Dom breaks away for an instant to adjust his body over my own before he connects our lips once more. His lips then travel to my neck, placing a kiss there, before moving to the tip of my nose, placing another kiss there.

At his tenderness, a smile forms on my lips and Dom's mouth curves up in a smile as well once he opens his eyes and meets my gaze. "I love you too." The rough gravel of his voice murmurs between us.
