fifteen: for letty

My hand runs along the back of Dom's white, ribbed shirt. I wrap my arms around him as we let the night surround us with its quietness. This is the calm before the storm. Both of us know that.

Letty's grave sits a foot away.

"We're so close." I whisper. "We know who Braga is now."

Dom lets out some sort of grunt. "He knows we'll be coming in hot. He also knows Letty's our weakness."

"Good."

He turns, cupping my face in his rough palms.

"He's underestimating us." I get lost in his dark orbs. "You don't mess with our family."

______

I'm sitting on a flimsy lawn chair next to Dom, who's wearing his mechanic outfit, working on his car in the Toretto garage.

"You know you don't have to sit out here."

"I know." I lean back in the chair, crossing my legs. "The view is nice though."

Dom sends me a look over his shoulder, shaking his head.

Movement from the door has me catching Brian standing there. "Hey Brian."

"Hey Alexis." He comes over to give me a hug. "Everyone's looking for you," he says, his eyes trained on Dom's back.

"I'm right here."

Brian walks so he can see what Dom's working on easier. "It's nice to see you've gone with the times and switched to electric fuel injection. Looks good."

"Look who knows more about cars now." I send Brian a smile as he shakes his head.

Dom nods, "Buster became a gearhead."

Brian looks from Dom to me, then back to Dom. "I'm going with you two."

"You don't have to," I say. "We—we weren't planning on coming back unscathed."

"If at all." Dom adds.

I send him a wishful look, which only goes noticed by Brian since his back isn't facing me.

"I know that." Brian says otherwise.

"Hit the throttle."

Dom's words go unanswered by Brian as he turns his head to look out the garage door. I see his face, and I know by the way he leaves the garage is that it's Mia. Those two deserve each other, and by the look on Dom's face as he watches Brian leave, I can see he knows what's about to happen.

"There he goes."

I stand and Dom turns towards me at the same time. Both of us wrapping our arms around one another. Even though he's a tad sweaty, I wouldn't trade any moments like this with him because this may be the last.

"You know, he might be awhile."

Dom gives me a displeased face as his nose scrunches up. "I'd rather not think about that."

Rolling my eyes, I move my hands so they're resting against his cheeks. "Mia had to hear stories about us. It's only fair."

"Not when she's my younger sister."

I pull his head down, and Dom tightens his arms around me as our lips brush against one another. "I say we take this final alone time to the next level. I need you."

The corner of Dom's lips curves up. Our lips fuse together as his hands run down my back and to the back of my thighs. His palms cup the jean clad skin there as he pulls my legs up and around his waist.

I break the kiss as he places me on top of the trunk of the car. "This sure is bringing back some memories."

Dom's chuckle is cut off as I take his mouth as my hands toy of the uniform. I just hope this isn't the last time we'll experience this.

_______

"How do you say goodbye to your only brother?" Mia asks, walking into Dom's arms to give him a hug.

"You don't."

Pulling away from Dom, Mia smiles at her older brother before turning to me. Copying her gesture to Dom, she wraps her arms around me.

"I'll be waiting. I expect you to come back. Alive."

I rub her back. "I will."

Mia nods, leaning back. "You get Letty's killer."

"I will."

________

Brian, Dom and I drove past dawn. All of us taking our own cars to the Mexican border. Braga fled to Mexico, but thankfully I know have an ally—kind of—on the inside. When I called up on my favor, she made sure not to disappoint. If all is forgotten, I can forget the past where she tried to flirt with Dom.

Letty always said I'm a bitch when I'm jealous. Sometimes it's needed though.

Sitting on the hood of my car, my feet dangling, I wait with the guys. Brian and Dom are leaning against the fronts of their cars—the two couldn't be anymore in sync. It's quite fun to watch.

"So, you and Gisele?" Dom asks, quirking an eyebrow.

"Did I miss something?"

"Alexis just hasn't been the—biggest—fan of Gisele's," Dom fills Brian in.

"Excuse me if I didn't like the woman who clearly wanted you." Folding my arms against my chest, I looked away from the guys and out into the scenery before us. "Anyway, yes, she owes me a favor, so I figured why not? Maybe her and I can mend fences if all works out."

Gravel under tires brings our attention to a car coming up the hill. Hopping off my hood, I walk closer to where Gisele stops her car before ours and gets out.

"Thank you for coming."

She shrugs her shoulders. "You saved my life. Plus, you said I owe you. Don't like to leave debts unpaid." She holds out her hand, and I take the folded paper. "This will help get you to Braga."

I stare at the paper. The seriousness of the situation settling in.

"Alexis." I lift my eyes to meet Gisele's. "Going in there is suicide."

Grief floods my body, and through it I manage to give the woman a reassuring smile. "I need to do this. I have hope I'll come back alive."

Gisele studies my face, and her eyes travel to where my hand is absently twisting Letty's bracelet around the around wrist. "You must've loved her very much."

"She was my best friend. My family."

She nods. "Good luck Alexis. Thank you for saving my life."

Gisele turns, walks to open the driver's side door of her car and drives away. Letting out a long breath, I turn to the boys.

"This is where my jurisdiction ends."

Dom looks to Brian. "And this is where mine begins."

________

The material of the gun feels warm in my hand. Nerves have turned into adrenaline moments ago when Braga entered the church. The three of us are waiting until he's alone to approach.

Even though I know this could end horribly, I also know I have two men with me who would defend me until the end. It makes it more comforting to know I can count on them to have my back. If things go bad, I know Dom will make sure to tell my dad what happened, and if my dad were to ever get out, I know Dom would make sure he has a comfortable life, as would Mia.

Pain slices at my chest as I think of Dom, and what he'd go through. Letty's death hit him hard, and I've seen him revenge hungry, but if I were to pass—I can't imagine the sorrow Dom would take on. We've lost so much—Dom's father, my mom, Jessie and Letty. Vince and Lance are elsewhere, hoping living good lives. Brian, I'm sure, will take care of Mia.

Hearing the doors to the church close, I don't let the possibilities cloud what we need to do. Braga is leaning on the floor, his hands intertwined together, when we approach with our guns drawn.

"You ain't forgiven," Dom says as we stand before him.

Braga's eyes open and he turns his head to us, seeing Dom's gun pressed close to him. "You guys want to arrest me?"

"No, we're beyond that," Brian answers.

"You can't buy your way out of this one." I can't prevent the mocking tone that comes through.

Braga focuses on Dom. "You and me—you and me, we're not so different. You're no hero."

Dom cocks his gun, pointing it back at Braga. "You're right. And that's why you're going back across the border."

Brian pulls out handcuffs and cuffs Braga.

"Fenix is mine Brian."

He looks at me and nods. "You got it."

Brian drags Braga into his car, and peels out onto the street with Dom following behind him, and me following behind Dom. The tightknit streets makes it hard to turn and avoid people, animals and other objects until we're out onto more open roads, away from the people.

Dom puts on the breaks on a turn, signaling me to get between their two cars. "Stay close to Brian," Dom's voice comes through the walkie-talkie.

The rough terrain jolts the car over every bump. My hands grip the steering wheel to help keep control. Upcoming up on a sharp turn, shoots erupts and bullets start raining down beside ours cars, barely missing us. Looking on each side of me, multiple cars begin to appear down sandy hills. Hitting the gas, the driver on my left misses me by a hair, but Dom turns his car so the bumper hits the car.

With the bullets and added cars, it creates more kick up of the sandy soil, making it harder to see. Keeping focused on Brian's car ahead, I try to tune out the guys hugging my back bumper.

At least until bullets break through my back window. Jerking the wheel, I get out of the car's main sight, seeing them shoot through Brian's back window. Cursing, I speed up, seeing the car that was shooting being lost in the shuffle. I keep close to Brian, hearing the revving up an engine from above. A truck speeds over the tight passage Brian and I took, landing by where the other cars are to our left.

"Right behind you." Dom intercepts the white, pickup truck by driving into its side, eliminating him from rushing us again. Dom is back to driving behind me.

Once we hit more open road, Dom and I veer a little to Brian's side. "Lets use the tunnel," Brian's voice comes over the walkie-talkie. "We'll use the tunnel."

"I'll keep close to Brian," I add, reassuring Dom I'll do what he suggested.

A car speeds next to me, ramming into my side and forcing me over enough where it can get next to Brian's. Letting out a curse, I get my car under control in time to see another car coming next to Dom. Hitting the window button, it rolls down enough so I can stick my arm out, pulling the trigger on my gun. A few shots and one of the car's front tires blow; the car loosing speed and falling behind.

Dom does a similar maneuver with the car on his side of Brian. "Get out of here you two."

Licking my lips, I take a quick look over my shoulder at Dom. Raising the walkie-talkie to my lips, I silently pray everything will turn out okay in the end. "See you on the other side Dominic."

Pressing the gas, I get behind Brian as we're approaching the stone walls. The tunnel door isn't open this time. In the rearview mirror, my breath stalls for a spilt second as Fenix closes the distance between us.

I have a few seconds to recover before Brian drives through the wall covering the entrance to the tunnels. Keeping enough distance between myself and Brian, in the event of Fenix pulling something to make us crash.

The headlights on Fenix's car is an unspoken mocking signal. He pushes on the gas, hitting my bumper. The quick jerk doesn't disturb me as much as the second, causing me to jerk left instead of right, causing Fenix to get behind Brian.

"Fuck."

Getting behind Fenix, I see the wall coming up in front of us. Brian goes left, breaking the wall between the two tunnels, avoiding smashing into the dead end.

Pressing on the gas, I hit the back of Fenix's bumper. The slight hit doesn't do much, but it slows him down a split second slower, allowing me to jerk right and getting beside him. He turns to look at me—the face will forever me embedded in my head as Letty's killer.

Throwing him the bird, I turn the wheel so his car slams against the rock wall. The small victory doesn't last long after I move my car back, going back to following Brian. Fenix recovers sooner than I expected. There's single, wooden poles in the middle of the tunnel, allowing Fenix enough room to speed up enough so when his car's front turns into my back, it swerves me, focusing me to let up on the gas and giving Fenix the time to move back behind Brian.

Seeing the wall to the end of the tunnel, somehow Brian turns his car to the side. Fenix and Brian's car fly out. I'm exiting the tunnel to see Brian's rolling car come to a stop upside down, and Fenix stepping out of his that is parked beside the now wrecked car.

Helping Braga out of the car and pulling him to his, Fenix watches as I pull my car to a stop in front of them. The same moment Brian kicks open the car door, coming out with blood running down his face.

Seeing Fenix approach Brian, I get out of the car the same time Fenix kicks the Brian's door closed, kneeing him in the head before kicking Brian down so he's lying on his back.

We point our gun at the same time. Fenix's eyes leave Brian to see me with mine pointing at him.

"You can't do it. We all know Toretto pulls the strings." Braga's voice cuts through the tension.

Moving my arm, I fire a shoot, hitting the car hood a few inches from where Braga is leaning over where Fenix left him.

"Say that again?" I move my attention back to Fenix, taking a few steps so I'm standing in front of Brian.

"Alexis," Brian's mumbled voice almost isn't caught.

"You're just like your friend," Fenix states, raising his arm so I'm staring at the chamber of his gun. "Stupid."

My finger pulls first. The bullet piercing his chest. Fenix's eyes widen in shock. I take a step, pushing the hand holding the gun away as he fires a shoot. Using my body, I push his into Brian's car, taking the gun out of his hand. His warm breath fans across my face, and I can feel his muscles weakening.

"My friend. Her name was Letty." I say through clenched teeth. "And this is for her."

Placing the gun against his abdomen, I fire another shot.

Fenix falls to the ground as Dom's car flies out of the exit. Hearing Brian's grunts of pain, I help up sit up, leaning against the front of Fenix's car as Dom gets out.

"You saved my life."

Looking at Brian, a smile twitches at the corners of my lips. "Two birds with one stone." I focus on the wound on his side. "Keep pressure on that."

Sirens can be heard, coming closer to us. Brian looks to Dom. "You gotta get out of here."

Dom's eyes travel from Brian's to mine. "I ain't running anymore."

The reality of what that means refuses to settle in—at least for the time being.
