mario and venecia came inside

he and I looked at each other oddly

exchanged names .. shook hands

he dropped the half full pilliowcase

on the coffee table with a loud thud

it wasn't easy for me to act at all

like I didn't notice the bloody tissue

protruding from his red swollen nose

Immediately I knew he'd been snorting

cocaine .. for what must've been quite a spell

neatly he laid out a pile of flake

divided it into four equal parts

we all snorted an eight ball each

wow .. the stuff was high grade

excellent .. we were all flying high

mario began acting paranoid 

he'd a private talk with venecia

next thing I knew .. she came to me

it was odd .. we're all in the same room

hesitantly .. she related he didn't trust me

somehow or another he thought I was a narc

I replied .. why would he share his cocaine

she couldn't answer except to say be careful

the women went to the kitchen to make drinks

I approached him at the fireplace .. face to face

he stuttered .. said he felt i'm not a cop

yet there's something bugging him

why I didn't move to colorado with viola 

when she first moved there .. then later on

he flashed a .38 snubnose .. crazy look in his eyes

started talking crazier .. wanted to fight

cocaine had his weak mind wound tight

I was floating too but it was a cool high

i'd my .45 just inside of my back waistband

if push came to shove .. i'd have to shoot him

I told him c'mon .. let's go outside

we can get this over with quickly

away from the women .. out on the lawn

suddenly he backed off .. said forget it

since I didn't flinch nor bat an eyelid
