The leader

Heavy bass music boomed through the halls, ricocheting off the pesky walls and billowing on until it reached the wooden main door, forthwith meeting with an abrupt soundproof silence.

The Jeon's mafia was bustling with life, preparing for a grand celebration in the name of their newest victory.

The main five were the busiest, owning claims as the hosts even though Jungkook kept telling them there was no need for a party. It was his job afterall! But for his dear hyungs, anything that Jungkook accomplished mattered a lot. And this recent deal? As Namjoon quoted, was nothing short of a miracle, like a whole ass ship sailing in to save the drowning anthill.

And so the word got out, and the poppers flew in, re-establishing the fact that the Jeon's knew how to party. It was arranged in a top notch neighborhood in L.A, in a single unit basement the mafia usually used to store their Atlantic stock.

Yoongi honed in with the security arrangements, taking extra care to make sure everything was in place. They couldn't afford a leak when there was always potential danger lurking around for the likes of them.

Therefore the guests were limited only to Jungkook's own men - his family that he'd grown up with, the people he had trusted the most.

Jimin and Namjoon were taking care of the eatables (if classic smuggled booze and light drugs could be considered so) while Seokjin stayed with Taehyung and Hoseok, merrily enjoying the little moments of no worry.

Seokjin tipped in his third glass of pink martini, oblivious to the groan and little giggles that erupted in the background.

"Hyung, can you atleast let the party begin?" Hosoek made his classic judgemental face causing Taehyung to giggle out louder.

The older removed the glass and smacked his lips together, sighing in pure contentment, "Ever heard of pre drinking hobi?"

"That's done when we're planning to dine out or hit the club hyung, not when we still have a toast to raise!" Hobi sighed in exasperation.

"Toast? What toast??" The older blonde slurred, looking between the youngers in confusion.

"A toast to Jungkook ofcourse! Did you forget the party was for him? Hyung!" Hoseok slapped his forehead, having had enough of his drunk elder brother already.

"Hyungie, i think you need a break," Taehyung offered sweetly, going about his shoulder to support him,"need me to take you to the couches?"

Seokjin wobbled on his feet before leaning onto the younger, who then began taking careful steps down to the main party floor.

"Damn Tae," he slurred again, raking his eyes over Taehyung's body, "You look hot."

The said boy blushed a deep shade of red, eyes unable to look up as he continued their gait downstairs.

It was obvious how Taehyung had put in a greater effort to dress up that evening, even going up to the extent of re-dying his hair into a striking cobalt blue, matching it with a blue printed jacket over a white tee and some black ripped denims. His glasses were replaced by a pair of blue contacts that he wore for the first time ever, albeit with Seokjin's undeniable help that is.

For others it was a makeover that made him look good but for Taehyung it was only a part of his mission.

"Rightt?? I mean yeah we've been seeing him for only a few weeks but he looks different tonight, doesnt he?" Hoseok added teasingly, nudging the boy until he broke into a shy boxy smile.

"Stop it hyung!" Taehyung whined as they finally reached the ground floor and began shoving through the drunk or high men to get to the couches.

With that tall crowd towering over him, Taehyung still looked like a small pup walking into a sea of wild animals. But did he care? Not really. He was here for one person and he couldn't wait to see him already.

But he was supposed to wait along the others, the young boss reportedly having gone to meet with his father first, probably thank him about the acknowledgment letter he had sent.

Namjoon joined the trio after a while, also dressed in casuals and rolling his shoulder joints as if he was getting ready to party hard. He wasn't drunk or high yet, just pretty relaxed after a long while, bringing a smile upon his boyfriend's lips.

"Oh i think i just found my toast for the night guys," Seokjin licked his lip, mischievously pulling the younger onto the couch next to himself, "Party safe little ones!"

"No, not again." Hoseok closed his eyes in disgust when the couple started to make out right in front of his eyes but it wasn't unusual. His hyungs were the only ones in their group to be in a relationship, a long lasting one at that.

"Taehyung, let's just leave the love birds alone and go find ourselves something to drink-- Tae?" The orange haired paused noting how the brunette stood rooted on his place, watching the two olders in a daze, "Tae, you listening to me?"

He shook the boy on his shoulder but Taehyung didn't budge, his eyes stuck on the way the two men held each other, with so much love. He subconsciously found himself wishing if he could have that too. Sitting and cuddling together with someone after long nights of making love...

Oh how he wished.

Taehyung's reverie finally met an end with the loud hollers that filled the living area, announcing the arrival of their boss. The brunette looked around and noticed the way the people cheered for Jungkook, as if he wasnt just their employer but their head, their family.

Taehyung got to his toes, trying to catch a glimpse of the said male over the crowd as Jungkook finally walked into the hall guided by a host of no less than ten bodyguards.

After a little struggle Taehyung finally saw him, emerging from the crowd like the victorious leader that he had proven to be. He felt his breath getting stuck in his throat, mouth parched as he slowly took in the older's form.

Dressed in all black leather clothes that stuck to him like second skin, wet raven locks strewn messily over his forehead and his favourite black Desert eagle D2 jutting out from his waistband, Jungkook looked like he was out with an intent to rule.

Rule the kingdom that he owned since the day he was born.

Jungkook was being escorted by Jimin and Yoongi who walked ahead on both his sides, gradually passing the area with the couches until they reached the small stage setup at the centre of the basement, Taehyung's eyes following behind him.

The leader stepped upon the pedestal, the spotlight honing in on him as he took the centre stage. The music stopped and people quieted up, looking upto their boss in anticipation.

"Tonight... is a special night," Jungkook began slowly, looking as solemn as possible with his voice the only thing resounding in the basement," so thankyou all for joining us."

The people cheered again, raising their beers in his honor. Jungkook gave them a single nod, a small smile breaking onto his lips.

"It's always been amazing working with you people. Let's strive to make this new endeavor a greater success. Together. Shall we?" He said proudly raising a bottle himself as per tradition, the crowd breaking into a huge applause and chatters.

"Three cheers for our leader, Jeon Jungkook-- come on, hip hip--"

"Hurray!!"

"Hip Hip--"

"Hurray!!!"

"Hip hip--"

"Hurrayy!" Taehyung found himself clapping along, unable to contain his excitement as the party had officially began. He watched as Jungkook dismounted the stage and allowed his bodyguards to disperse and enjoy themselves as well.

This is the time.

Hoseok patted the boy on his back and left his side, walking over to Jungkook. Taehyung wanted to follow him, go see Jungkook and probably talk to him but something stopped him on his tracks.

A wave of nervousness flushed through his body, his mind recalling the purpose  he was here for.

Since the news of his big achievement arrived, that was about three days ago, Taehyung noticed how Jungkook had begun to act distant. Although he'd rather believe the older was simply busy handling his new projects that also had him stay outdoors for the most part, he couldn't help the odd feeling gnawing at his insides.

First off, he had to sleep alone in the nights. Again. And he didn't particularly like that ever since he had found the older as his bed partner. Secondly whenever he did come back, Jungkook didn't even look at his way for more than a few seconds, let alone talk or summon him for sex as per usual. It was almost as if he was pushing him away.

And Taehyung wanted to know why. Was it his "missing home" fiasco that ticked Jungkook off to such an extent? Heck, it was just a misunderstanding!

Or was he mad about something else?

Maybe... he's just bored of me?

Taehyung shook his head in denial.

Jungkook wasn't like that.

He couldn't be... could he?

Taehyung wasn't sure but he was going to find out what was wrong.

The boy ran a cautious gaze over his attire and set his hair again, ironing his heart to go talk to Jungkook. He had made all this effort to grab his attention afterall, he wasn't going to chicken out without even trying.

"Hey Taehyungie! Come over! Here!" Hoseok called out for him, pointing at the place where he and the others including Jungkook stood, sharing drinks and vibing with the music.

Taehyung traced his steps through the crowd, smiling nervously by the time he reached his familiar circle. He noticed Jungkook's eyes on him for a moment, scanning him from head to toe before looking away like nothing happened. Taehyung smiled internally, hoping he could just get a few minutes alone with the older tonight and maybe sort things out.

"Enjoying the party Taehyung?" Namjoon asked the boy, who simply nodded in return, before looking around and noting the absence of his other hyung.

"Where's Jin hyung gone?" He asked back, having to raise his voice in order to be heard above the music.

"He passed out on the couch already. He's a light drinker, and i swear this is not the fastest he's blacked out at a party," Namjoon chuckled, causing the others to laugh along, "what do you want to drink?"

"Aha annyo, i don't drink." The boy told him, nervously tucking a strand behind his ear when he heard a few groans from the other boys.

"Come on Tae, it's a party. Drink up!" Hoseok insisted but Taehyung shook his head again, looking down at his shoes.

"Let him be hyung, this one sure knows how to spoil the mood," Jimin scoffed from the side, taking a swig from his own bottle. He looked pissed for some reason but it wasn't odd for Jimin.

Oh, Taehyung forgot to mention how Jimin had gone back to acting like a complete asshole with him after that one morning. Yeah, that too. He wondered if it had anything to do with Jungkook's recent behavior but he couldn't be sure. If anything, Jimin seemed equally as bipolar as his bestfriend if not more.

"Not sure how him wanting to drink or not affects your mood, Jimin-ssi." Yoongi butted in taking Taehyung's side, narrowing his eyes at the look of hatred Jimin threw at him.

"Fuck off, im out." The shorter ravenette scowled, stomping away to someplace. Hoseok sighed and glanced at Yoongi, silently begging him to follow the younger. The latter groaned but did so, leaving the four others behind.

Taehyung looked after them, wondering what their deal even was. Sometimes they acted like friends but sometimes, they looked like they wanted to kill each other.

He was lost in his thoughts when he felt a familiar hand rest on his shoulder.

"Kitty."

Taehyung spun on his feet, eyes widening in their sockets at the familiar nickname he had been dying to hear for the past few weeks. He was stunned to find Jungkook standing behind him, a small smirk playing on his lips.

"J-jungkook?"

The said man blinked, staring down at Taehyung with what looked like an all too nostalgic look of fondness swimming in his eyes.

Taehyung felt his knees wobble, eyes clouding over with a haze, heart pounding away in its cage.

Jungkook was back.

Jungkook was talking to him.

Jungkook was--

"Drink."

Taehyung paused, eyes falling down to the beer bottle extended in front of him.

"H-huh?"

"I said, drink." Jungkook repeated casually, keeping his voice as cold as ever. He handed out the bottle to the boy, looking at him expectantly.

Taehyung was in a fix. He hated the taste of liquor but Jungkook was asking him to drink it. Should he say no? But he couldn't! Not to Jungkook atleast. Besides he needed to talk to the older, maybe this was his chance?

The boy hesitantly took hold of the bottle, bringing it to his lips to take a small sip. His mouth immediately scrunched in distaste, wanting to spit it out that very moment but the older stopped him with a warning look.

"Finish all of it." Jungkook demanded sadistically, causing his friends to frown.

"Kook you shouldn't force him--" Namjoon started only to be stopped by the blue haired boy himself.

"I-its fine hyung. I- will drink it." Taehyung said, throwing a glance at Jungkook before slowly tipping the whole bottle upside down, trying to chug the resentful liquid at one go. He wanted to gag but stopped himself.

If he listened and obeyed, maybe Jungkook would want to talk to him again?

Hoseok and Namjoon both threw concerned looks at the boy but Jungkook watched him with a set of blank eyes, glinting with nothing but a hint of amusement.

His eyes momentarily wandered down to the apple of Taehyung's tan throat bobbing ever so beautifully with every forceful gulp. But then he looked away and crossed his arms over his chest, putting on his usual emotionless mask.

While they waited for the youngest to finish chugging the beer Jungkook's phone went off in his pocket, vibrating until it drew his attention down to the new message that just dropped in on his inbox.

+6747855867:

I'm on my way.

See you in five? :*

The ravenette closed his phone and tucked it back into his pocket, flicking his wrist to check the time on his rolex before looking around the crammed up space.

"Kook? Going somewhere?" Hoseok asked the boy, who nodded in reply.

"Got some work, will see you guys later. Ask the men not to follow me, I'll be out late." Jungkook said briefly, turning to leave but then he stopped and looked over at Taehyung, who was still only halfway done with his beer.

"Enough," he growled, snatching the bottle from the boy and throwing a mean glare at him,"now go get some fucking sleep."

"B-but-" Taehyung hiccuped, stumbling on his feet as his head already felt light on his shoulders. He helplessly watched as Jungkook already turned his back on him and walked away to the main entrance, disappearing behind the door, "H-hyung wait--"

Please talk to me...

Jungkook exhaled as he reached the driveway outside the basement, fingers curling around the nozzle of the beer bottle he'd brought along by mistake.

A hoard of thoughts raided his mind, circulating a little too quickly for him to retain. They were the ones that had lately begun filling up all the sane space in his head, sucking him further and further down into an endless abyss of more thoughts.

Three weeks.

Three whole weeks had passed.

Jungkook wanted to smash the bottle on the floor and scream at the top of his voice but he held himself in, gulping down its contents instead. He threw the empty bottle away and stumbled on his feet, messy hair making it difficult to see where he was going.

A sudden screech on the gravel caught his attention, causing the ravenette to straighten up and compose himself before putting on the face he had for the rest of the evening.

The car stopped right at his feet, engine turning off but no one stepped out.

Jungkook waited patiently, sliding his hands in his pockets as he looked ahead with a blank expression.

The blinkers lit up after a while, a tinted glass sliding down from the window on the passenger's seat. Jungkook cocked his head and peered inside, eyes meeting the face that he'd been seeing a lot from the past few days.

"Missed me?" She pursed her lips in amusement, causing the boss to raise a brow at her.

"Not quite," he told her before opening the door and sliding in next to her," knew you'd come back anyway."

Kara scoffed but didn't deny it, simply changing the gears of her expensive rover as she reversed out of the driveway.

"The party looks nice," she started glancing at the raven head who got busy scrolling through his phone,"think we could've waited till it got over?"

"Nah," Jungkook stated, attempting to covering a yawn,"it was nothing all too interesting anyway."

He turned on his seat and raked a fast gaze down the beautiful woman sitting beside him, a small smirk drawing over his lips when he noticed her blush hotly.

"And besides, i believe you can prove to be a much better company for the night, don't you think?"
