Christmas.

Kira had a very mixed opinion of this time of year. There were some things she enjoyed.

The decorations.

The music.

The spirit of Joy it gave most people.

The lights.

It was all fun. But there was something that made her dread this cheery time of year.

Loneliness.

"This will be the best Christmas party ever!" Mina exclaimed, helping Uraraka decorate the garlands around the dorms. "All the lights look so pretty! I wish we went with the pink theme I suggested... Green and red... Boringgg."

It was the first time these kids had been together for Christmas. But all of them were excited to celebrate with their new friends. Despite the situation.

"I'm excited to go home for Christmas day too." Uraraka sighed. "It'll be the first time I go back since I moved here. I wish I could go home more often." She said with a small frown. "My parents will be all alone... I'll be sure to FaceTime them."

"You should be more grateful! The league is still at large and they're getting pro heroes to personally protect each of us on our way home!" Iida lectured.

"Yeah, but that doesn't make it less of a bummer." Jirou said with a frown. "Come on, aren't you gonna miss your family Iida?"

"Of course I am!" Iida stiffened. "I'm simply saying we should be grateful for what we all have!" He said with a red face. "I hope they don't have the impression that I don't care about seeing my family..."

"My family has a big party a few days before Christmas. It sucks that I have to miss it this year man." Kirishima sighed. "It's like a tradition."

"That sounds fun!" Mina smiled.

"Yeah! There's games and music. It's totally manly." Kirishima said with a smile. "But this dorm party is sure to be awesome too!"

"My dads always take me Christmas shopping! We don't normally have surprise gifts that we open that morning. We go shopping Christmas eve before the stores close." Mina said, hanging up an ornament.

"That's unique, Ribbit." Tsu said with a head tilt. "My family usually just holes up inside and tries not to leave because of how sleepy the cold weather makes us... But I guess that's kinda weird..."

"Yeah, we like it better that way, so we know we're all going to like what we get." Mina explained with a shrug.

"That's quite smart." Momo said, creating the hooks for all of the ordainments. The students had forgotten them when they went shopping. "My family hosts a gala for all of our company's investors and their families. I have friends that I only see that night... It truly is a pity I won't be able to see them this year... I'm sure they understand though."

"Wow really? Just once a year?" Kirishima asked with a sad frown.

"Yes, they live all over the country. Some even live in different countries. Though we still do write letters." Momo nodded. "I do miss Francis and Bernard... And Melissa."

"How fancy." Uraraka said with a sigh. "My family just does the usual stuff... Guess it'll be a lot different this year."
"I'll be gone and he... Nevermind! I don't want to think about him!"

"Sounds like everyone has cool traditions huh?" Sero asked. "My family just does the boring normal stuff."

"I'm sure it's not boring! Christmas could never be boring!" Denki argued. "I fucking love Christmas! My whole family gets together and we pig out on awesome food while watching as many Christmas movies as we can all day long. I can't wait."

"What about you Kira? What do you and your uncle do on Christmas?" Iida asked Kira curiously. Who was currently connecting all of the various ornaments to their hooks.

She looked up in surprise at them asking. What was she supposed to tell them?

"Yeah you look like you're pretty good at decorating. You did that whole side of the garland all by yourself." Mina said, looking at them with a bright smile. "She did so good, it looks so perfect. Minus the lack of pink of course."

"Oh just the usual." Kira shrugged. Thinking back to her most recent Christmases.

She was bending the truth just slightly. But she normally did that, so it was okay.

"Like you know... Getting a tree and stuff. Nothing special."

Where Kira Kokoa had gotten a saw no one really knows. But here she was, cutting away.

The twelve year old held the trunk of the pine in one hand and the saw in the other, sloppily cutting the tree in half.

After a few minutes the small top of the tree fell off, leaving Kira Kokoa with a small natural tree about half her height.

She smiled in satisfaction and picked it up with a mild struggle, looking around to make sure no one was coming. Her quirk was still quite weak. She couldn't hear someone until they were in arms length of her, so she used her eyes and ears instead.

Kira wasn't really sure if this was considered illegal or not. She certainly hoped it wasn't.

She was in a public park after all, and her uncle did pay taxes. So technically she owned this tree. Or at least that was her logic.

The solo tween secured the tree onto her little red wagon with some string before she was off. Pulling it behind her through the snow. She had a hat on that covered her messy long black hair and a scarf that wrapped over her nose. Pink from the cold. She pulled the wagon away from the trees with great purpose. Making her way out of the park.

Thankfully not many people strolled around the area during the holiday. So Kira was practically in the clear.

She pulled the wagon with dutiful purpose towards her own, lonely apartment.

The students gathered around the TV. Holding various hot drinks. Like ciders and teas and hot chocolates as they debated the best Christmas movie to watch.

"Die hard." Bakugou said stubbornly. Crossing his arms. "Best fucking Christmas movie ever."

"THAT'S NOT A CHRISTMAS MOVIE BAKUGOU!!" Mina argued, seconds away from throwing hands.

"I think the Christmas Carol is a classic! Perfect to watch!" Iida said with a smile. Ignoring the two arguing as he made his own suggestion.

Kira put her hand on Bakugou's shoulder to prevent him from arguing too much. "Eri's going to watch too. So we're not watching Die hard." She told him with a frown.

"Well what the hell do you suggest??" Bakugou asked. "The kid's coming? I didn't know that... Totally shouldn't let her watch Die hard... I'll just watch it on my own later."

Kira shrugged.
"I don't know. My favorite has always been Home alone."

The house was set up. Sloppily as usual. This year thirteen year old Kira had a small plastic tree set up in the corner of the living room area. Beside the TV she sat watching.

Kira curled up underneath a blanket as it played. Humming the theme of her favorite Christmas movie.

The snow was falling and the main character Kevin had been victorious in defending his house from two evil robbers. Rigging it with multiple crazy traps to keep them at bay like a true war hero. He woke up. Walked around his house, dejected over the fact that his own family... Still wasn't there.

The door opened!

And Kira shut off the TV.

Despite it being her favorite holiday film she never finished it. She didn't want to see the scene where his family came back for him and they were all happy and smiling and proud.

It made it less funny.

She got up quickly, checking her windows in a way she only really did around Christmas time. She put toys and glass ornaments on the floor by every window seal. Just in case a barefoot robber tried to climb in.

She even had her own small BB gun filled with pellets just in case she needed to shoot at someone. Though she never did.

It was always good to be prepared.

"Now!" Iida said during the party, the movie was over. Unfortunately they eventually chose elf instead of Home alone. Not that Kira minded much.

Eri sat on her lap, dressed up like a cute Santa Claus. Kira herself had a red Santa dress and hat on, like most of her classmates. Except Bakugou, who was only wearing his hat because Kira had made him. No other reason.

"It's time to exchange our secret Santa gifts!" Iida said with a smile. The students looked around in excitement. Wondering who got them a gift, or if their own gift would be appreciated.

"I hope he likes it!"

"Maybe I should have done more... Nah... I'm sure Uraraka will be fine with a keychain right? I wish I could give Kacchan a gift... I don't think he'd take it though..."

"Damn it this sucks... Raccoon eyes is probably gonna hate it... I just won't tell her it was from me... What was I thinking... A t-Shirt... Even though Kira gave me advice. I hate this game."

"Is it selfish that I hope it was Kira who got me?"

Kira of course knew exactly who got who. And what they got them. She's done this before in parties at middle school. It was easy for her honestly.

Kira picked up the gift like everyone else to give out. This year had been easy, like most.
"Hey Jirou!" Kira called out. Jirou was giving her gift to Momo. It was a custom burnt CD and CD player. In case she didn't already have one. Very sweet and personal, Kira knew about it awhile ago. She also knew how excited Jirou was to give it.

"Yeah Kira?" Jirou asked looking over.

"Merry Christmas." Kira held out her own wrapped gift.

"Oh Kira got your gift?" Momo asked looking over. "How lucky."

"I remember in middle school Kokoa was notorious for getting the best gifts at parties... Guess now I know why." Iida said, his attention also turned. "I still have that amazing Atlas she gave me! I use it often!"

Kira frowned and looked away. Iida had been the easiest person ever to give a gift too. All he needed was an interesting looking book packed with useful knowledge and he was perfectly happy.

"Wow..." Jirou said, slowly opening it. "There's no way she got me what- OH MY GOD."

Kira smiled as she took it out. Eyes wide.

"It's the deluxe signed edition of my favorite album!!" Jirou gasped holding it up. "How did you get this????"

Kira shrugged. "I have my ways."

"It must've cost a fortune!!" Jirou hugged it to her chest. "I can't take it."

"I don't want it back." Kira said with an eyebrow raise.

"I love you." Jirou thought. Hugging Kira. "I mean thanks- hahaha."

Kira pat her back. "You're welcome Jirou."

After much consideration Kira had ended up buying Tenya Iida an Atlas for her Christmas gift exchange present. She'd known the boy all of two semesters and all he thought about was his family or school. So this seemed quite fitting.

It was the first time in quite a while Kira actually had plans on Christmas eve. Normally she stayed in her apartment, away from the cold eating a microwavable meal and Christmas cookies she bought from the store. She didn't know if she was excited or not though, usually she skipped school parties. Especially ones with parents or guardians invited. But thankfully this year was students only.

Minus the staff hosting of course.

Kira walked out of the bookstore. The Atlas was already wrapped by one of the workers.

She didn't know why she put so much effort into his present. When Zoe from their class was only getting her an impersonal T-shirt with their school's name on it. Maybe it was because Kira didn't often get the opportunity to give gifts... So she wanted this one to be a good one.

Even though she wasn't terribly fond of the guy, and they weren't close at all she still hoped... He liked it.

*•.*•.*•.*

"You okay?" Bakugou asked her. Bumping shoulders playfully. He found her standing apart from the rest of the group. Watching.

"Yeah... Just... Christmas. You know?" Kira said with a sigh. "Guess you can say it gives me the blues."

"Seasonal depression?" Bakugou raised an eyebrow.

"That's what some people call it. I just... Haven't had the best Christmases these last few years." She admitted. "But I don't want to tell everyone about it... My uncle's actually trying now and... I'll feel bad if I make them see their hero differently."

"How about this year?" Bakugou asked her. "How do you feel now?"

"... maybe better once you give me your present." She glanced up at him.

"Can't you just pretend to be surprised?" He mumbled. Pulling out a small wrapped box.

Kira fake gasped. "A present? For meee? What is it?" She said with fake surprise.

"Nevermind. Don't pretend. Just fucking open it." Bakugou scoffed.

It was a simple gift. A bracelet with orange, green and black beads, the same colors as his hero costume. With letters spelling "Newbie" on it.

"Awh you got use friendship braceletss?!" Kira asked with a smile. "You're so cute!!"

"It's not a friendship bracelets!! It's a single bracelet for you. That's all. We're not matching or anything stupid." He crossed his arms. "Is this corny. No I think she likes it... Just as long as no one sees this I don't care... I just want her to be happy..."

"Oh really? Does that mean you won't wear mine?" She asked, pulling out another bracelet from her pocket.

"Damn it Kira." Bakugou groaned.

She held up the bracelet. In black, white and dark purple with "KitKat" on it. Matching her own bracelet.

"I fucking hate you." He whispered. But Kira felt a spike of joy from him. He was happy. He put it on and Kira did the same.

"Yayy were matching!" She cheered. Hugging him. "Why am I still 'Newbie'? I've been here for months. I'm not new." She questioned. Pulling back.

"You'll always be the stupid new kid." Bakugou grumbled. Crossing his arms as she pulled away.

"Awh... Really?" Kira pouted, but it was obviously faked. She grinned and leaned closer. "Forever?" She asked.

"Yes." He responded. Cheeks tinted pink as she got closer. "She's so pr- close... She's so close. I'm glad she likes it... You do like it right?"

"I love it." Kira smiled. Leaning in and kissing his cheek.

"What the hell-" he backed away. Face red as he looked around, making sure no one saw. "What was that for?!" He whisper-yelled.

Kira giggled. "Look up, moron."

He glanced up and saw hanging above him. A small clump of mistletoe tied with a ribbon.

"Not my fault. It's tradition." Kira shrugged and walked away with a hum. "Merry Christmas Katsuki~"

Ding ding.

Kira hadn't realized he had been coming. For the first time ever her uncle was actually here. On Christmas eve.

She didn't know if she should be excited or nervous. He had never come over for Christmas. At all. She didn't have anything for him, not that he expected anything anyway. But still she was completely thrown off.

"Hello Kira I um..." All Might rubbed the back of his neck. He was just as nervously awkward as she was. Which made her feel a little better. "Let's go get a nice Christmas dinner! I'm sorry I can only stay with you for a night... I have to be at my agency in Tokyo tomorrow morning..."

'Theyre having be dress up as Santa Claus to give gifts out at a children's hospital... I don't know if I could have looked them in the eye without thinking of Kira here alone.' He thought to himself with a smile.

"I have gifts!"

*•.*•.*•.*

"Kira... Can I see you for a moment?" All Might asked carefully. Finding Kira on the edge of the classes Christmas party.

"Oh you're here... Uh.. sure." Kira nodded. Following her uncle carefully. She knew what this was about. And she had no idea how she wanted to approach this conversation.

Thankfully she didn't have to. He wrapped his arms around her in a hug. "I'm sorry Kira." He told her once they were standing alone on the porch.

"Uncle Yagi... I know..." She said, letting him hug her. She didn't quite hug back yet. Just standing there. "It's okay."

"It isn't... I know... Being alone must've been hard on you... And it was all my fault..." He whispered.

Kira didn't say anything.

"I know I'll never be able to fix what I've done... But... I want to try to be better." He told her. Pulling away quickly. "So... If you want. We can... Do things this Christmas break. You know... Go out... Do activities that... Families do?"

"As much as I want too... I don't think showering her with gifts. That would only temporarily make myself feel better. I need to spend more time with her instead... Quality time. That's what's more important." He thought.

Kira smiled softly.

"Yeah... I'd like that."

A/N: Yeah so I was watching Home alone and was like... Wow... That's pretty much how Kira lived isn't it?

Kinda sad but... At least it had a good ending 🥰

Merry Christmasss
