Jeongguk’s head shot up when he heard his phone ping while he was reviewing patient details. He glanced at the screen and saw V’s reply. Excitement sparked in his eyes as he dropped his pen and began typing with newfound enthusiasm.

Taehyung checked it, expecting more silence, but saw a new message from JK:

He hit send and waited eagerly, feeling a wave of relief. The whole day of radio silence had been a drag, but now, it felt like things were finally picking up.

Taehyung blinked, surprised at how quickly JK had replied.

"Whoa, he’s actually replying fast this time," Taehyung muttered, shaking his head. "And making jokes about patients? Interesting."

He typed back, trying to stay cool.

Taehyung was mid-sentence typing out a message when his phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen—Erin and Hwan were calling him. He sighed, knowing he couldn't ignore them.

Picking up, he said, "Hey, Erin, Hwan. What’s up?"

Erin’s voice crackled through the speaker. "Yo, Tae! We’re heading to the store. You coming or what?"

Hwan chimed in, "Yeah, we’re grabbing snacks. You know you want in."

Taehyung grimaced but knew he couldn’t ditch them. "Alright, alright. I’m coming. Give me a sec to get ready."

Erin sounded relieved. "Sweet. We’re at the corner store by the park. Don’t be late!"

Hwan added with a chuckle, "Yeah, or no ice cream for you."

Taehyung rolled his eyes but smiled. "Got it. I’m on my way."

He hung up and quickly shot a message to Jk.

"Guess it’s time for some snack runs," he muttered to himself.

Taehyung grumbled as he got ready to leave. He was really into the convo with Jk and hated that he had to cut it short.

He quickly typed,

Taehyung tossed his phone into his pocket with a frustrated huff. "Yeah, yeah. Just wish I wasn’t stuck with these guys right now."

He grabbed his jacket and headed out, muttering to himself, "Gonna make this quick. Can’t wait to finish this and get back to the chat."

Taehyung heads out, mentally preparing for the social outing while wishing he could keep the conversation going with Jeongguk. Taehyung shaked his head with a smirk. "Well, let’s see if the ice cream’s worth it."

Taehyung finally met up with Hwan and Erin at the convention store. As he walked in, Hwan gave him a big bear hug. "Dude, you actually showed up! Thought you were ditching us!"

Taehyung chuckled, hugging him back. "Nah, couldn’t let you guys down. Let’s get this grocery run done."

They grabbed their carts and started making their way through the store, tossing in items here and there. As they moved from aisle to aisle, Taehyung saw couples around them, snuggled up and stealing kisses. He couldn’t help but smile, though a twinge of sadness hit him as he thought of his chat with Jk.

He wandered off to another rack and spotted banana milkshake—something Jk had mentioned as his favorite. "Oh, this is it," Taehyung murmured, grabbing a bottle and tossing it into his cart. "Gotta try this sometime."

After collecting the groceries, they headed to the counter. Taehyung bowed slightly as he asked, "How much for all this?"

The cashier scanned the items, and Hwan, grinning, handed over the money. They even got an ice cream for Taehyung as a treat. "Here’s for being a good sport," Hwan said, handing him the cone.

Taehyung laughed, taking the ice cream. "Thanks, man. It wasn’t that bad."

With their bags in hand, they said their goodbyes. "Catch you later!" Erin called out as they went their separate ways. Taehyung walked home, the banana milkshake and ice cream making him smile, despite the mixed feelings he had about Jk.

Taehyung walked home with his grocery bags, feeling a bit more relaxed. He pulled out his phone and instinctively messaged Jk.

Jeongguk’s fingers hesitated over the screen. For the first time, he was about to ignore Shezam’s message. He was more focused on V’s chat. And unexpectedly, he ignored it ....kind of swiping the notification to focus on V.

Back to V’s message, Jeongguk quickly typed.

Taehyung flopped onto his bed, scrolling through his phone with a grin. "Man, Jk’s messages make my day," he thought, chuckling at a meme Jk had just sent. He tapped out a reply, teasing Jk about his taste in music, then tossed his phone aside, feeling unexpectedly upbeat.

Meanwhile, Jeongguk leaned back in his chair at home, his phone resting on his chest. He read V’s latest message and laughed. "This dude really gets me," he mused.

He typed a quick response, asking about V’s weekend plans and joking about his own ridiculous work stories. As he hit send, he couldn’t help but smile, feeling like he’d found something special in these random chats.

Jeongguk stifled a laugh as he read V’s text about tripping down the stairs. He was about to reply when Shezam, with a sly grin, slid into the seat across from him, holding two banana milkshakes.

'Hey, babe," Shezam said, handing him a milkshake. Jeongguk quickly hid his phone and tried to focus on his boyfriend, but Shezam’s hand brushed dangerously close to his crotch.

"Remember I told you I’ve got a holiday next week?" Shezam whispered, his voice low and sultry.

Jeongguk nodded, trying not to let his mind wander. "We’re heading to the vintage area. No network, no distractions. Just us."

Shezam’s hand pressed a little firmer, making Jeongguk’s breath hitch.

"I want you to think about that while we’re here," Shezam murmured, rubbing his hand deliberately against Jeongguk’s groin. Jeongguk’s eyes widened as the sensation hit him, making his heart race. The thought of being cut off from V, even for a short time, made him uneasy.

"Come on, babe," Shezam purred, leaning in closer. "Let’s enjoy the moment. No need to be distracted by that phone."

Jeongguk’s mind was a mess. The idea of a week without talking to V was gnawing at him, but the immediate heat from Shezam’s touch was distracting. He gulped, struggling to focus on his boyfriend.

"Can’t we just... I don’t know, take it easy?" Jeongguk muttered, a hint of desperation in his voice.

Shezam’s lips curled into a teasing smile. "Relax, babe. Let’s make this night count."

As Jeongguk tried to suppress his anxiety and enjoy the moment, his thoughts kept drifting back to V. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was about to make a huge mistake.
