"No, guys I swear, he's cool." Stan, Ben, Beverly, Mike, Richie and Bill sat at their signature table in the crowded, loud cafeteria. Richie had stated to the losers that there will be another person sitting with them at their table.
They never invite anyone to sit with them. Richie being the person that argues that it's a law they have no one else but them sit at their table.
"How cool can he be if you're bringing him here?" Mike laughed along with other laughs from the losers. Richie rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. He whipped his head and scanned the large room to find a pair of nut brown eyes with soft freckles dotted under.
He found none and turned his attention back to the conversations his friends currently held. Although Richie was hearing their conversations his mind was elsewhere. Eddie, that boy was doing something to Richie that made his heart fluttered and weak in the knees.
Richie's bisexual, he loves the attention from girls and boys. His mother doesn't really care what team he swings for, in fact she's proud that he came out to her and his friends.
But the problem is; Richie doesn't know if Eddie likes boys at all, but it'll be worth a shot to ask him out. So Richie set in his mind a date for Eddie and him.
He's certainly not the romantic type but he grew up watching sappy 80s romantic movies so it might be helpful.
"So Richie?" Bev's devious tone in her voice and smirk caught Richie's attention. He prayed the red head doesn't mention his crush.
"Are you gonna tell me more about your crush?" Beverly twirled her finger on her hair as she looked into Richie's eyes. Disappointed, annoyance and embarrassment swiped across his face.
It was difficult figuring out which one best described how he felt at the moment. The whole group caught interest and leaded their attention to the pair.
"N-no, I'm not gonna talk abou-"
"You have a crush?!" Ben exclaimed, both confused and excited. Richie rolled his eyes, leaning into his chair.
"A boy, to be specific." Beverly winked at the group. Richie turned tomato red. He wanted to hide his whole being from embarrassment.
"N-no I don't guys." Richie stutter, nervously combing his thick locks with his fingers. "Aww, Ri-Richie's in lu-love." Billed smiled, pinching and pulling his cheek. Richie swatted his hand away from his face, clearly annoyed.
"What does he look like, Rich?" Mike asked, picking at his food on his tray. The others turned their heads to Richie, praying that he would tell them.
"Nothing!" Richie groaned aloud. Stan made a face at Richie, like he was stupid. "Nothing? So he's imaginary?" Bill laughed. If Richie had a dollar everytime he had to roll his eyes, he would already be halfway to a million.
"No he's not fucking imaginary, Stanley." Richie groaned, glaring at his friends. "Su-so you d-do have a cu-crush on him?" Bill asked in his sweetest tone just to get an answer put of Richie.
The blushing boy wanted to leave the table and end the conversation for good but a certain soft voice froze Richie in place.
"Richie?" His heart skipped a beat or two when he heard the voice behind him. He whipped his head around and smiled softly.
"Can I still sit with you?" Eddie asked. He felt small with the stares from the losers. Richie nodded his head violently, afraid that if he opened his mouth he might say something stupid.
Richie gestured Bill to move over more so Eddie can pull up a chair and sit next to him. Richie gulped, watching his friends react to the new kid sitting with them.
"Well?" Stan spoke out. Richie's attention was no where near Stan, he was busy lost in thought that Eddie Kaspbrak was sitting next to him.
"Richie!" Stan shouted, yanking Richie out of his daze. "What? I wasn't listening." Stan looked at Eddie then back at Richie.
"Aren't you gonna introduce us to your new friend?" Stanley said looking at Eddie. "Oh yea. Guys this is Eddie but everyone calls him the new kid." Everyone smiled or waved, making Eddie feel more comfortable around them.
"Eddie, these are my friends, Beverly, Ben, Mike, Stan, and Bill." He pointed to each one. The stare Beverly gave Eddie made him most uncertain if she liked him here or not.
While the group made small talk with the smaller boy, Bev scanned his face, her green-blue eyes flickering back and fourth between Richie and Eddie. She watched how Richie looked at him. She never seen him look at anyone in that way.
The red head studied his small features on his face, his freckles, eyes, hair. Why does he look like.... Bev thought, until it all set in place.
"Oh my god." She whispered, covering her mouth to contain her smiling. Underneath the table, she kicked Richie's shin making his head turn to her. She smiled at him and pointed her eyes to Eddie.
I know. She mouthed to him, which he understood. Richie lowered his eyebrows and slightly shook his head, knowing what she was gonna do. A sly smirk played on her lips as she cleared her throat.
"So Eddie, i was wondering if you wanted to come with us to see a movie?" Richie lowered his shoulders and glared at Bev who smiled at him genuinely.
"I mean we would all love for you to come with us, right Richie?" The curly haired boy gave her a death stare but her smile only grew bigger.
"Yea, would you come with me- I mean us to see a movie?" As much as Richie hated Bev for doing this to him he also wanted to hug her.
"Sure I got nothing else planned." Eddie smiled at Richie, making his face flush with red as he returned the smile.
"Great! It's a date!" Bev winked as she stood up from her seat and walked away from the group. Richie sighed and closed his eyes, taken back from her comment.
The bell rung, signalling everyone to start up class again. Once the group got into the hallway they went their separate ways, expect for Eddie and Richie.
"Sorry about Beverly, she can be a bitch sometimes." Richie sighed. The shorter boy looked up at him and smiled.
"No I don't mind, she's fine and your friends are great." The brunette reassured, causing Richie to smile.
"Um look you don't have to come to the movies with us if you don't want to." Richie looked down, secretly praying he doesn't turn him down and walk away.
"No, I'd love to." Eddie responded. Richie's heart thumped in his chest. He really couldn't believe he was coming with him.
"So here's my number." Eddie grabbed out his blue pen and held Richie's hand in his own to write the numbers on his soft skin.
Richie was sure Eddie could hear his heart bump in his chest, but he didn't care. He blushed while looking at Eddie in awe. The curly haired raven examined the numbers and printed them in his mind.
"I'll pick you up around 7, alright?" Richie stated looking into Eddie's nut brown eyes. The orbs had Richie in a daze again. Eddie blushed, looking and smiling down at the ground. Eddie still held Richie's hand. The warmth the two had made their hands sweaty.
"It's a date than." Eddie teased, causing Richie to snap out of his daze and back into reality. Before the taller boy could say anything Eddie had already released his hand and walked into the crowd of students.
Eddie Kaspbrak had Richie Tozier wrapped around his little finger but he wasn't complaining.
